i would choose Litecoin as the secon cryptocurrency if i want to choose because it is the closest thing to bitcoin and has a big marketcap.
but the important thing about litecoin is that it could keep its position over the years. coins such as ethereum which are big right now could have a chance at the second place if they can stay alive for a year or more!

Bitcoin is obviously my first choice in the crypto currency world. But I also love Dash and litecoin becasue of their potential.
Dash has already shown and litecoin is one of the most stable coins since its inception.
Also I like dogecoin a lot and earning a lot of it through cloud mining.

Bitcoin is first crypto-currency (as fiat currencies are more used than bitcoin), second crypto-currency would be litecoin or ether (witch is growing very fast).

you are looking for what is called Altcoins or Alternate cryptocurrency. you can find all the active altcoins on coinmarketcap with their price, link to their website and block explorer. also you can check the altcoin announcement and discussion boards to find out more.
the second popular crypto-currency is always changing but some of them could keep up with bitcoin like Litecoin, Ripple, Dash, Monero, Doge, and a couple more. but nothing could be as big as bitcoin yet.

If you are talking about Crypto currencies, I would rather say Dogecoin were the second most popular coin. Lately a bunch of other coins are making good progress, but this is mostly due to shilling and spamming and creating hype around these coins.

i think OP mean, "If bitcoin is the first popular cryptocurrency, so what is the name of second popular cryptocurrency?" maybe litcoin if i'm not mistaken,this coin was created in October 2011 by former Google engineer Charles Lee.

I would say after bitcoins most popular is USD as a currency , and if you want processor then surely Paypal stands next to BTC, though Paypal has many issues, it being worldwide accepted many people like using paypal.
