not so sure but maybe yes i will still use and support bitcoin secretly, if ever it is already prohibited in my country I will find a way to keep in touch with my coin and will keep it on a desktop wallet despite that I will be punished badly if they caught and traced me using this bitcoin Grin but i don't think they will implement a strict law on bitcoin that they will punish you like hell.

You lead and I'll watch you walk away.
I will use it because i don't use bitcoins for illegal activity, but i don't know what for people come from Europe, because Europe Will Have Power to Ban Blockchain Tech in January 2018.
At a blockchain conference last week in London, Patrick Armstrong, Senior Risk Analysis Officer, detailed ESMA’s approach to blockchain technology. One strategy he noted was to ban blockchain products or processes altogether.

It is bad for Europeans

Its really a bad news for Europeans since they are serious of banning blockchain products and processes. It may be implemented on 2018 but still a year to go left for those bitcoin users on Europe. Its quiet a big news for me that the government could possibly ban bitcoin on a particular place but i wont still totally believe until that time arrives i would like to see on how they gonna do it.
That is very bad news. Banning of bitcoin on europe has a huge effect on bitcoin. Bitcoin price might get dump.
Or if other country get an idea too to ban bitcoin on their country and spread the ban to the whole world
But earlier, most of the European countries had cleared their stand on bitcoin to treat it as a 'digital asset'.

But now we are hearing complete new things. I believe this will not get implemented when more number of people finds the advantages and potential of bitcoins.

Yes, governments will be forced to listen people's choice, that is the reality as per history. So no need to worry, I believe.

Governments will be forced to listen to the people? What planet are you from?  Some of the most democratic countries in history have not listened to their people until it was too late to stop the revolution.

Don't know how many of you remember it used t be against the law in the US to have Gold. Jewellery was excepted but bars, coin etc  could not be owned.
Although governnent not allowed us to own bitcoin, they can not do anything to prohibit us to own bitcoin, becouse bitcoin have anonimity that protect the users. I read in some articles that even us is starting to regulated bitcoin.

Way too late for me.

No, more of a Prohibition just moves it underground and doesn't stop it. Also gives the state a pretext to control your wealth. Just posting here may in the future give the Gov cause to search your home and computers.

I disagree yes voters realize this would be a prohibition like alcohol was in the US in the 1930 and POT is now. outlawed but millions use it anyway.

The poll so far shows 63.3% of forum members have some sort of cognitive dissonance psychosis.

Really? Are you saying you're dependent/addicted to Bitcoin like a drug?

There are special treatment programs for alcoholics like AA. Maybe I should start a BA treatment program. LOL

All the more reason it's psycho to get on a public forum and say anything other than you would immediately stop using Bitcoin if your government told you too, right.  Wink

Everything will be very difficult for the Government, because it was decided in the Government have some things that are definitely there in the bitcoin. But the Government also won't benefit greatly if using bitcoin, because they certainly wouldn't be able to attract a fee or tax in the bitcoin by automated means. But it all depends on the creators of the bitcoin, if the creators of the bitcoin appeared and took over may be different

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
Bitcoin does represent people, and we are free to choose what we wanna, and speak as long it doesnt offends the other person. I dont like some rules and restriction about what you can do with fiat, that makes bitcoin more and more atractive, i wont stop using bitcoin because the politicians say its a problematic currencie or ponzi.

funny how they use ponzi scheme on the things they disagree with.  If you look at the trading industry, it is one big ponzi scheme.  People buy the stock, then sell it to another people in a higher price.  The first person will get his profit from the second person and so on. That is trading with profit.  Isn't it a big ponzi scheme itself?  Why not address the trading as a whole and not point in Bitcoin only.

Code:
Pon·zi scheme
ˈpänzē ˌskēm/
noun
a form of fraud in which belief in the success of a nonexistent enterprise is fostered by the payment of quick returns to the first
investors from money invested by later investors.

Not really if you buy stock for X price and then that business grows and you sell for 2 times what you paid then you are obtaining profit because the business grew and became more valuable, even though the one buying your stock is the one handing the money to you your profits came form the growing of the business.

Need some spare btc for a new PC
Hm, that would depend on what would the consecuences be, but I don't think I'd be risking a fine or some jail time over a bitcoin. I mean, I'd probably try to earn it in some way, staying low, but I don't think I'd be exchanging it or buying anything online with it.

I think I'd give up on bitcoin if it was made illegal in my country, unleast untill the ban is lifted or I move to the country where the bitcoin is legal.

I thought about it for some time. It is a very tough question, isn't it? If 90% of your life savings are in Bitcoin, will you be willing to give them up? I don't know the answer.... It will depend upon the probability of getting caught...

EU will have the power to make BTC illegal 1/1/2018. Doesn't mean they will but why give your gov that power?

I wouldn't because I don't want to be involved in such things that can affect me in some way, so I prefer not doing that but a lot of people would. Why? Because they simply do not want to have their rights taken away or they are criminals or something. Bitcoin doesn't affect the economy of our countries in any way for now, it can be easily implemented in lur system (but that would make everything way less anonymous).
i think that it depends what is the punishment of using bitcoin.
For example if i would buy a PC with btc ( through blockchain payment ) and i would get 2 years for it then welll... obviously...

No, I wouldn't. At least not openly or not as I frequent as I use it now.
I'm not gonna risk being jailed just so I could use Bitcoin. Maybe occasional checks on investments.

If however, I was able to make a LOT of money with bitcoin, then I'd use that and certainly move overseas where my bitcoins would be welcome.  Grin Grin

That is a good point too, if someone really knows he is doing a work which can be continued and guaranteed and he is earning good enough bitcoins with that then he could move to somewhere else where bitcoin is not illegal and he could keep using it there.
