I will still use bitcoin, there are regulations to banned some illegal activities in every country but it never can be stopping people to do those things. Actually, in my country already band some sites that consider bad thing, but by using vpn people could visit the site.
Luckily bitcoin is digital currency that bring many advantages for us, so gov won't ever ban bitcoin I think.

It will be the final test to see if people still use it once the governments make it illegal all over the world. If people get scared and stop using it then ti will mean bitcoin failed, because bitcoin is supposed to resist all government attacks and keep working no matter what happens. It would suck if it gets reduced to a tiny amount of people using it. Sure you can claim bitcoin still wins because the technology works, but what's the point if only a few people use it? the idea is to take over the world.

this is an interesting question in my opinion and there are a bunch of interesting replies but i think it comes down to how hard will be banned or made illegal.

and as someone who lives in a country that still has no rule about bitcoin and there has only been talk about it i fear these things but i guess i will continue holding some in my cold storage in any case but reduce my usage.

For me it would totally depend on the situations of my country because if i find others using it without any serious notice then i would do that too, but if i found someone being punished for using it in a bad way then i may stop using it.

I don't think that I will continue to use bitcoins if its declared illegal by Government as it may put me in risk and if I got caught using it then they might think that I am involved into illegal activities and may start treating me as a criminal so in that case I will prefer to stop using bitcoins.
Well in my opinion, if the government gives restrictions about bitcoin, I won't easily accept that because to me, bitcoin has become an important part in my live. I won't give up on it that simple and I've been thinking of two ways to turn this law down. I maybe run a protest to against this or maybe I just keep using it because it's not an easy task for the government to track down who uses bitcoin.

Yes it is illegal in my country. If a government of an entire sovereign nation feels threatened by Bitcoin doesn't that just reaffirm its power and value? There's huge political potential with Bitcoin, what would happen if a small African country wanted to start selling oil for Bitcoin?

Why do people not understand that they are the ones with the power. The masses cannot be contained if they all for one and one for all.
The government does not control you, we control them! If the government was to pull a dirty move like that the only thing left to do is protest 24/7 until they change it.

It reminds me of the occupy wall street protests, the crowd was protesting the wrong thing. Instead of protesting against the 1%, they should protest the government who passes dirty bills to increase tax and create inflation.

I would keep using it  Cool
But I would secure my connection with Tor, so that I'm safe from government tracking.

Also i would file a petition to remove such law. All users of Bitcoin will be encouraged to support it.
And it would be called the Bitcoin Movement. Grin

However, I'm sure such law cannot be introduced in my country. A senior official in our country said that they have no plans to regulate Bitcoin.

I don't use much VPN now for the reason that it only causes my connection to slow down. I am worry free because there is no law that prohibits to use bitcoin here in our country. Maybe others consider bitcoin as illegal because it is use to purchase in the black market like drugs and weapons.

Just the idea that someone would risk jail time for a payment system is kind of looney. If the government said you would get five years in a federal prison (no parole) would you risk using PayPal? ApplePay? M-Pesa? Google Wallet? WePay? Braintree? Skrill? I understand they are different from Bitcoin but they are still just value transfer systems.

You're all making Bitcoin sound more like a sinister cult than a Peer-To-Peer Electronic Cash System.

Exactly, But still this is not impossible yet this idea is too imaginative as well. If we are going to really think of what is currently hapenning right now then this idea really do sounds like a sinister cult
This an idea, and it wasn't getting a chance at this time.
However, We must have thought at that if that was going to happen.
Still feeling comfort with the bitcoin, Although it was imagining by others that so terrible.

Indeed i would definitely use it, it makes a lot of work and processes easy. I'm going to use it until forever.

How could bitcoin make your daily processes easy if it is going to be banned by the government? I think that's not the OP means... If government would ban bitcoin, I think we will have difficulty in transaction, most of our moves should be carefully planned so I think that would just slow down the way we earn and risky too, so by that, I think it's time to quit bitcoin if it is going to be banned by the government...  Smiley
it work before so for sure even its been banned it will still exist and more value will it takes like drugs when supply has been decrease the value rises up for sure if bitcoin got banned in most country we can still find ways like direct wallet to wallet transaction and there still someone will take chance to exchange it in our own currency.

I think I would still use it. By banning it, I think they just don't want to change at all. They don't want to be improved in any aspect. The government would be left out in the technology advancements.

If Bitcoin was made illegal by your government and the punishment was very bad, would you still use it, would you still openly support it?

Maybe no, because i dont want to go in jail. Since the government knows that bitcoin is illegal then i will find some other cryptocurrency that will be exchange for bitcoin. But for now, i think bitcoin is not to be illegal because as far as i know, many users uses bitcoin and do some transactions for it.

For me i stop using bitcoin if this is already illegal by our government i want to work fare in my country i need to work hard to make me successful and i do not like to be successful because i do illegal things which is illegal can have money easily.

Practically, I would quit gambling, no second thought on that, not because it is illegal but because government is going to punish you, imagine if your important rights have been removed by the government because you where jailed. So, I'd rather stop using bitcoin than compromising my life in prison.
