It is likely that Altcoins will actually go down following Bitcoin if they experience a big dump. It is a fact, Altcoins will also be subject to a pretty terrible correction.

I think many of you weren't around in 2017 so I will tell you what happened there.

Bitcoin had two consecutive 30% drops, one for a week in early January and the other for 3 weeks in early March. These two drops were the start of the altcoin bullrun.

In the first drop you could see some coins already having good upsides but in the second BTC 30% drop hundreds if not thousands of altcoins started to make 2x,3x,4x...10x price increases.

We are in 2021 and we had the first drop of bitcoin from 34k maybe or not was this 20% drop we had a few days ago was the end of it and what happened? ETH skyrocket!!!

Wait for the next drop in March. Altcoin season will start. Be ready!!!

if bitcoin corrects 30-40% alts will crash at least 60%. Alts are way more volatile than bitcoin and trading volume is also low. Dont forget back in 2018 when bitcoin corrected like 80%+ ,most alts lost 99%+. Even see what happened in march and all alts just plunged from January and way more than bitcoin. Plus Bitcoin has growing institutional buyer base which will keep the price even more stable than what we have seen earlier. I would say stick to bitcoin for bulk of your purchase and use smaller amount for alt moonshots.

I do not think that they are any different when it comes to movement. Some people think when btc goes up, alts go down, when alts go up, btc goes down and so forth but I disagree with that. Look at bitcoin, it moved from 7k to 35k in a year right? Well, ETH did something similar, from around 150 bucks to over 800 bucks increase in one year.

This is why I think it is quite obvious that you should not really consider anything different between alts and bitcoin, they all act together, the whole crypto market acts together. Obviously there are some times when one individual alt could do something different than others because of a news, but normally that is not the common thing, that is only because of some news. Which is why if btc corrects 30% or 40%, to me that means Alts will also have a 30% or 40% correction as well.

Hi everyone,

I would like to invest on a few ALTs and I would like to know if the BTC corrects by 30 or 40%, will the ALTs also correct?

Thank's  Smiley

If Bitcoin gets a 30 or 40% correction, the major alts will probably get an even more significant drop and small alts will die or be close to the bottom. This is what we saw in 2018, and I guess in a case of correction things will be the same. Bitcoin is the King and all alts are following it.
I also remember 2017-2018. In those days, Bitcoin became just super popular, almost everyone knew about it. I am afraid that now, when Bitcoin has risen again even higher than the previous peak, all altcoins and Bitcoin may collapse to the bottom again. Definitely, altcoins are dependent on bitcoin, I have often noticed in my experience. I don't know the percentage, but it is. I wonder how altcoins will behave in the current situation. Ether has already grown by $ 300.

I think in a bull market everytime when btc corrects its volume and liquidity flows towards the alts so most probably alts value will grow if btc will undergo correction during the bull market.

Yes there's a possibility, but you should understand that not all altcoins are created equal, there are altcoins that will deliver better than Bitcoin or after Bitcoin make a pump, it's all go down on the potential of the coin, Ethereum is still the best altcoin in the market and always move whenever there is movement on the price of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin isn't always correlated to alts; sometimes Bitcoin takes a slump while alts literally go crazy bullish. Usually, when we have Bitcoin bull runs, once BTC's price stops getting pumped it's time for alts to "shine" again. ~
That's right, but if btc price get 30-40% correction then it will surely create impact in altcoins price. Cause more than 30% price correction is a significant change. Which will create fear among altcoin investors. As a result altcoins price will have a correction too. We can easily check the correction difference by observing bitcion marketcap dominance while it had correction like this (more than 30%) in past.
There is no real connection but there is also relevance. If bitcoin corrects that much, it should mean that alts do something as well, doesn't 100% have to be the same direction, but it has to be some movement nevertheless. So let's say bitcoin corrects 40%, that means alts have to either go down 40% or go up 40% (numbers can change) but they can't just stay at the same price while bitcoin moves, that is nearly impossible.

Look at what happened previously, when bitcoin was about 24k and dropped under 22k, alts went under their prices as well, but when it was 34k and went to 28k, they all went up instead, so as you can see they didn't stayed the same, but they didn't go the same direction each time neither, they just move but it could be any direction. I personally believe there is no stopping them now, they are going to break over their all time high prices, specially ethereum.

To the best of my knowledge, I think this will depend on the type of altcoins. Before it used to be this way, Bitcoin pumps and all altcoins dumps because people or investors tends to sell most of their altcoins to Bitcoin in order to gain more, and also, when Bitcoin corrects all altcoins dumps as well. But nowadays, looking carefully at the market one will see that, when Bitcoin was increasing in price, few altcoins or rather top altcoins were increasing as well but at a slower pace, and when it's about correcting few altcoins also picked momentum to grow even more as seen in the case of Ethereum. So I think, the price correction of Bitcoin will only give more altcoins room to grow, but like I said earlier, it will depend on the altcoins which I can say will be top altcoins.

if bitcoin down about 30% or 40% i think altcoins will follow my friend,
then if you predict the price of bitcoin will go down, i think its better to buy a stable coins, such as tether or others
then you can buy back alts or bitcoin in the deeper price

At this stage< I think the correction in Bitcoin means people have started positioning themselves in Altcoins for the next Altcoin seasons, Altcoins, especially DEFI tokens do not dump significantly this year because they are priced in USD and not BTC and their BTC value remain stable. If I were you I would be buying the Altcoins I'm looking to buy now

It seems like the Correction is Now coming to market ,Ethereum Dropping to 900$ level again from Climbing 1,100$ level.

Bitcoin on the Other Hand Is now Continues falling ,almost dropping to Below 30,000 after Staying for the Whole week.

If this is the correction then Surely I will buy again ,And altcoins may be affected also ,There will be no Altcoin season that Most Bounty hunters mentions.

Hopefully not since altcoins didn’t pump that much so I think this can be a great time for them to pump as well while BTC is on a correction but right now we see a big update on altcoins, they are starting to pump as well. We are waiting for the altcoins season for a long time, maybe this can be the best time for that.

If Bitcoin really dips 30% or even 40%, alts will definitely bleed as well. With such a massive drop weak hands would start to panic.

But if Bitcoin would slow down a bit with the pumping, money could also be moved from Bitcoin to Alts.

Yes its possible since more of the altcoin is also following bitcoin price when it dumps.so if you see bitcoin decline you should secured your profit to stable coins before it affect the altcoin price.if the correction in btc is high, it is possible that the price of altcoins will also be significantly lower so securing your money to stable coins is the best option once you see decline in bit coin price.

If bitcoin loses more than 30% of its price, it will lose nearly $200 billions and it will strongly affect the price of alts. I believe that when this happens, most of altcoins will also drop and create a huge FUDs in the crypto world. But dont worry, it is hard for bitcoin to drop that hard. A correction will only reduce the price of bitcoin to at least 20%

such price drop is quite huge in the market. so theoretically speaking, if that will happen to btc, most alts will follow such trend as they follow the movement of btc. but in reality, losing 30% of btc value is far from happening at the moment. i don't see it happening anytime soon. but in crypto, we need to be always ready as everything happens fast without a warning. and some alts can stay on their track, if they have solid foundation and devt is active. but not many alts can keep up with their market performance.
