If you already have 100 BTC there will never be more than 210,000 people who have more bitcoins than you.

Think about that for a moment, and then think about how many have been lost forever already.

What a great way to think of it!

You should have put it that way when they cost $10 each. Now its too expensive for me to buy 100 btc (expensive as in i dont have the money, not that the price itself is expensive), because as you put it, if it ever becomes mainstream, then being in the top 0.0035% of bitcoin holders would be priceless.

These things have been posted many times when the price was lower than $10.

Fair enough, unfortunately I wasnt here to read these words of wisdom. Smiley Why does important crap like this never get to my Facebook page, instead I get pictures of lol catz and dogs... wtf?!?

That's why I dont have a facebook account, it's a waste of time !

Sorry you lost me at if 21M people had 1 BTC each, how do you figure that anyone else would have any BTC's when there can only be 21M BTC's ever? If you start dividing them out then the top 21M people don't have 1BTC each they have less than 1BTC.

0.003 BTC each if bitcoin was evenly distributed to every human on earth

Who has the record for most BTC owned?
The most BTC at a single address is owned by the FBI.  However, this is just the most BTC at a single address.  The largest holder of BTC would probably have their holdings spread across many addresses for safety, security and privacy reasons.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/z-295302

Note that the #1 address 1FfmbHfnpaZjKFvyi1okTjJJusN455paPH with 144336.40430282 BTC is the BTC confiscated from DPR by the FBI.

Here is some more information along these lines:

Rival, let's hijack your thread and make a poll. I am very curious how many people have 5,10,50,100 or more BTC.

You can get some sort of an idea from this report; http://www.klmist.com/keysreport.html - updated daily. The top-owners report http://www.klmist.com/topowners.html is also enlightening - not updating currently.

When btc are a million dollars each, owning a coin will not make you a millionaire, it will make you a single-aire.

And that will never happen.

99% of the world's wealth is owned by 1% of people.

99% of the bitcoin's wealth is owned by 1% of bitcoiners.

Just reading a great book "the creature from jekyll island" about the creation of the Fed in 1913, at that time 25% of the world wealth was in the hands of less than 10 people!  scary stuff.  well worth a read.

Actually one needs very few limited resources to have a sane, wealthy, healthy and happy life.
- Good home, not too big but not small either, maybe with some self-sustainable features like green energy, garden
- Technology; TV, cellphone, computers, etc
- Cars. one or two, for the family
- Some physical silver and gold
- A few bitcoins (10 I'd say)
- Cash / bank account for emergencies, including medical

I'd say that for US 400,000 would be enough. For EU, 150,000 euros are great.

Everything people have above this and do not use to make things happen in this world (medical research would be at the top - check how many die each second without basic health services) is just greed. And greed for power, which is the worst, changes one's character in such twisted ways that you are reluctant to call that person human. I saw some cases...

you mean 400,000 in assets with no income? because 400,000 is not nearly enough, especially if you are living in a city.

Take a look at new innovative coins like eMunie or OpenUDC, the distribution of wealth is much less unequal and much more thought out.
eMunie does look interesting.  At least it is not just another Bitcoin clone pump and dump shit coin.

From what I can tell OpenUDC looks like a huge SNAFU but all I could find was French pages that had to be translated into English.  Voting on money creation, hmmmmm... Created by a committee of French socialists, hmmmmm...

It is a fascinating thing to think about, when we know the exact maximum finite amount of Bitcoins.

Assuming Bitcoin really did takeoff and go mainstream to be used by hundreds of millions of people, that puts even those who own just 1 Bitcoin in a strong position. And for those who own the most Bitcoins, in terms of FIAT,  billionares?  trillionares?.
