Best time to buy is when they are dip. Dont buy when they are high. Simple rule but very important.
From your answer, you more interest in ico project, but for me i prefer to state 3 top exist coins like etherium waves and ltc.

If i have 1 bitcoin to invest in alternate coins, then i will choose an alternate coin that has a big market capital and on my list it's probably Ripple (XRP) will get 50% of allocated 1BTC, 30% of it goes to IOTA (MIOTA), and the other 20% will be invested to NEM(XEM) and i will only check for them after a year or two.

I would buy Monero. This coin is so different than the others. Privacy is becoming more important lately and people will start to undestand it.

Put it into ACOIN and turn it into 10BTC...

If only I do have 1 Bitcoin on my hand, I would really want to buy a lot of coins with good project this year, but of course I would still choose two of the top coins of today and that's ethereum and litecoin, and for the other one, I want to buy XRB, because it's price from mercatox is really pumping and their target price by next year is 0.001 btc, so I'm so eager to buy and hold it.

Have 2 bitcoin and take 1 bitcoin to buy altcoin is good idea.
If i have to choose 3, those are etherium, litecoin and waves.

I think I'm going to invest in Universa for the new token and the rest of the money or in bitcoins would probably be investing in NEM, Ethereum.and Waves because I think I'll make lots of profits out of these coins.

One Btc is good enough to turn into investment. You can invest in eos, waves and bitcoincash after it drops to buyable levels of course. Currently investing in altcoins is a little risky because market is very unstable. Wait a bit and then buy these or some other high potential alt coins from lower prices.

I guess I would diversify this one BTC into all the top ten coins (except for BTC). Or I would invest it in a very promising ICO, but one that is really worth investing in, not some shady ICO. However I think I would go with the first proposal, it bears way less risk and will likely also bring huge profits if you wait some time.

Good thing that as a project was miserably founded, actual team doesnt work on ICO collected funds. Part of the development was made pro-bono. In v1.4 theres going to be a slider that lets you to set up whatever percentage of staking funds you receive from supporting networks towards project development fund (actual development + marketing). As you can guess it will help distribution alot since donated coins would fly on the market

I have invested in these coins because they all have blockchain and these 3 projects cooperate with big companies.

With 2BTC, I'll use 1 to invest in my best teams ofJustice league, avengers and X-men(Ethereum, Litecoin and Waves)

I boarded the NEO ship some days ago, bought VIA today and I keep my eyes open for LISK and IOTA after prices go lower

If I where to gamble, I would look at Litecoin. Litecoin is becoming increasingly interesting due segwit on both chains now, due atomic crosschain transactions up and coming lightning network.

Monero would also get some BTC if I wanted to invest in the future of anonymous coins.

Finally and as a big risk:big reward bet: Poswallet is looking pretty nice with the rebranding and introduction of TPoS technology.

Some consider Chainlink as a good bet but I haven't researched that one yet.

This is not different than other threads but I'll give you some hints anyway. If I invest 1 BTC to 3 altcoins I would pick like that:
0.35 BTC worth ETH, 0.35 BTC worth WAVES, 0.30 BTC worth NEO. You can replace NEO with OMG or TAAS. I think that's very good portfolio for starters.
