If I was in desperate need for money i'd personally live like a bum and drop money into the stock market. There's no point in going out hanging loose for temporary satisfaction when no money is being made.

Yup, compared to other, banks offer a good and low interest, sad to say, others make it a habit that after paying they would borrow again even if it is not for emergency purpose, I saw some of my office mates did that... After paying the loan they would file another one and sometimes they do it on two different banks at the same time... But anyway, I think it's good to invest on things that has value when you pawn it or use as collateral.. It will be useful during emergencies...
