However, I believe there are two types of ignorance. One is that which is easily surmountable. The other is that which takes more than a little amount of effort and time to get addressed. The latter could be considered forgivable but never the former.

The sad thing about a lot of people falling victims to various crypto scams is that they could have avoided them altogether had they just exerted a little effort to do due diligence. Many of these victims could have prevented what happened to them if only they used a little amount of common sense.

Newcomers often have to face a technological learning curve, besides learning how to build a wall of defences against scams and such. This is when one is particularly weak and exposed, and the best one can hope for is for a quick learning curve with prudence at the core.
Also, completely not seeking ROI, or a means to make money whilst that learning curve goes on will do a great job, if you do not send out money (to scammers) you do not lose any of it right, if as a newcomer, you ardently are only out to strengthen your knowledge, and put a strong foot on the learning ropes, imo, you'll be just fine. Then by the time considerations on ROI and other whatnots regarding it starts to rise up in your head, you can no longer be a victim to the scammers.

Knowledge is power, without it you are nothing.

You are prone to hack or scam if you are ignorant because you are more likely an easy target for scammers and hackers.
But no one become perfect instantly, we do it by practicing which would improve our knowledge and most especially if we learn from our mistakes.
I have some experience that I was hack and scammed as well, but gladly I was able to take it, now I keep learning because I know that we are in the crypto space where considered a high risk market, without knowledge you lose.

NEVER ENTER INTO CRYPTO WHEN YOU ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH KNOWLEDGE.

You'd get scammed the exactly same way if you were to go on Craigslist right now and get rich out of nowhere. You'd look for amazing deals and you would most likely get scammed in the end.

All people really need is common sense. Have you ever felt the need to double someone's money randomly? If yes, how would you do it? Would it make any sense to ask the other party to send you money in order to send them the double, or is it an unnecessary step?

Common sense. Ask yourself as many questions as possible and, if in the end it sounds even a bit sketchy, move on.

Finally, a member who is aware of scam and hacks, nowadays we cannot deny that there are a lot of people are still one of the victims of scams and hacks even we already told them to take care and make background research about to those platforms they don't really know, but we cannot blame them because some of their mindset are getting too much greedy to make more income and there is no easy money right now. @OP if you find out some platform that is risky to the other members better to report immediately to our scam accusation board as cryptoaddictchie gave.

drop it here: scam accusation board

why the way they talk is so effective

Well, they are good at sales talking some of their basic moves are first, getting the trust of their victims, second let them win their first investment on the platform and finally get their trust again to make investment more and this is the scams will happen. Even there are a lot of victims and told already that this is a scam or hack they always fall on those traps.

I’m with @pooya87 on this one. Ignorance is not the sole driver. On its own, ignorance (as in don’t know enough/do not master rather than lack of culture) would not lead people to fall for some of the listed pitfalls, but rather the main driver is likely gullibility, combined with a hasty urge to get something practically out of thin air. Of course the more versed one becomes, the less likely to fall for these traps, so concurrent factors are rather entangled.

Newcomers often have to face a technological learning curve, besides learning how to build a wall of defences against scams and such. This is when one is particularly weak and exposed, and the best one can hope for is for a quick learning curve with prudence at the core.

in most cases it is not so much ignorance but greed and desperation combined with gullibility.
for example the case with all ICOs and their derivations like STO, IEO,..., the altcoin pumps, the Ponzi schemes and more are because the gullible newcomers want to make money but cannot do it because they don't understand how the market works and how useless these things are. so it is easy for them to fall for the false promises and pretty designs and big fake numbers.
We also should consider that the scammers are smooth operators, now what I mean by that is that most of them will sweet talk you to go ahead and try their scams, this kind of people are very good with their words and they play with emotions rather beautifully, this also is another thing that you should consider, if the guarantor is sugarcoating their words then that is a red flag, the other thing why the way they talk is so effective is because they know what they are doing and they know the mechanisms behind the scam that they are selling which makes them more convincing. There are also a type where they guilt trip you into joining their scam, they try to target your negative emotions like guilt or sometimes manipulate you which is very dangerous and undetectable if if was performed correctly, be careful out there, if they try to play or use your emotion then that is a red flag.

I was so thankful to be one of the members of this forum, I would have been scammed or my wallet would have hacked. I have learned may things about this cryptocurrencies. I just want to appreciate this that this forum is very useful and led me to crest this topic most especially for people who are not on this forum that browsed about it using google search engine because it can or may not be new to most people on this forum, but it is very possible new members are included to learn from this thread I started.

1. I have seen seen someone that was decoyed by a fake lover on social medial to send bitcoin to a given address but was actually a same, ignorance makes them to believe who they never know.
2. Ignorance and greediness make some people to invest on ICO and on a pumped project but later lose.
3. Ignorance make some people back up their wallet seed phrase on device they use, if the device is damaged then the seed phrase gone and the wallet and coins on it will be lost.
4. Ignorace makes people to carelessly use the wallet device online and install malware which result to bitcoin and altcoin or the whole wallet loss.
5. Ignorance make people to collect airdrop careless but leading to phishing attack and/or malware installation.
6. Ignorance makes people use public WiFi to even use it to open there bitcoin wallet.
7. Ignorance make people fall for ponzi scheem.
8 ignorance make people decoy to pay certain amount to collect big about to doubler sites and nothing it return and they are scammed.

These are just few, but this forum made me realized that all we need is to have knowledge about how scammers do their tricks, to avoid them is simple but lack of how to avoid them makes people to be easily scammed, I have blamed many people before but I later understood it is because they know nothing about scam. And lastly, I thank this forum once again for revealing how scammers can try to scam.

Although ignorance resulted to scam but I have to add this comment from Coolcryptovator
Well wrote OP, although ignorance isn't the only reason it's one of the important reasons why we get scam. Most scam cases happen due to greedy behavior and to become quick rich. The quick rich method is one of the most dangerous reasons for the scam. Wherever we see some greedy offer we jump on it without conclusions. Some scam happens due to lack of enough knowledge, to be honest, I meet with PONZI word after joining on this forum. Before that, I wasn't aware of Ponzi even I was an investor of the rev-share scam at the beginning (I wasn't into bitcoin that time). No one explained to me about this ponzi scam because of their referral commissions. So it's more important to learn from such as forum and nearest friends. Ignorance scam could happen when you know something but you get scam due to carelessness.
