Sorry for your loss.

He may have sold and if the price goes up he will profit so no worries. He is still richer than most of use.

He had chance this summer to sell at the price he bought, I was advising to sell half, hopefully he did it.

Just to recap the facts... the home value was ~$400,000 and the OP traded it for 648 BTC

At the current pricing the OP now has ~$117,000 in BTC

but property is stable ,if we kept the house he would have minimal predictible gains
with the volatility those btc could be worth 2-3 million usd  in a few yrs

thats the differnce Smiley

The upside is much bigger for Bitcoin and you have a legal risk of owning a property and many costs associated with it. Bitcoin is very risky and more volatile.

Yeah could. But cashing out, go to the casino and bet all on red has a higher chance of winning (49.9%)

49.9 % ? what game is that ? roulette wheel has 1/2  white stripes too so i think its not as close to 50% after the house edge

i think btc could raise by 5000%

#wait and see Smiley

Let's bump this thread in 2017, shall we?

We can compare his bitcoin worth then, with what the house average appreciation would have been had he held on to it. Wink

We should let this thread die. its just flogging a dead horse at this point.

OP has disappeared, hope he is ok.  Very bad timing on investing if true, think many of us lost some though.

He could have sold it cheaper and invest in stocks, gold, ... probably there would be only 5-10% gain per year. But he lost nearly 70%.

I sure hope he didn't lose everthing... Bitcoin was a bit higher in the past... Cry

If he sold the house around 800$ and the price is now 300$ he lost 5/8th of its value but he said he would not have been able to sell the house if it wasn't for bitcoins (which I doubt is true)

He sold the house on the 7th March 2014, when exchange price dropped from 660$ to 620$. Right now it's about 180$, this must have hurt (if he still holds coins and cares about price).

hodl them until next year or longer  Wink
