Honestly learning a skill before entering the university is very important, it serves as a side hustle and that money can be used to sort out a lot of emergency school issues. Instead of making calls to parents everytime for every little thing that comes up, someone can just sort those things out singlehandedly. I'm just saying this thing based on my own personal experience. If one has a skill, money problems or issues will reduce, there are even some people that are in the professional stage of the skill they learnt, they're already pros so they make good money out of it and are able to sort out their financial issues with ease. Because in the university so many unforeseen expenses can just come up and it will help prevent someone from being stranded

Learning a skill before entering school can be invaluable. It not only helps during school but also prepares you for life after graduation. Many graduates struggle to find jobs, but those with prior skills often have an edge. For example, someone who studied marine engineering but couldn’t find a job still benefited from the skills learned earlier. Developing skills early on provides opportunities beyond academic achievements.

Skill is very important for someone to have even if you are not entering school because it will help you any day or anytime or even when you least expect it. Most of the people that are complaining in this country are the people that don't have skill or any work to do, skill gives one advantage not just an advantage a very big one in that matter because imagine when you went to apply for a work and there are other people who came searching for same work, some company will give you people a test and imagine when you (skilled person) is doing test with someone that don't have skill or experience you will be automatically picked or selected and the service you will render because of your skill can make them retain you for a longer time because of the value you are giving their company. Skill is very necessary and very important to have and the best time to acquire it, is when you are growing let say like 10-15 year depending on individual sha.

This is an interesting topic,before after school skill is  a very good added advantage to whom it concerned a skill while still ln higher institution is good because you can still use the skill to be making money anywhere,it help so much ,so skill while in school is very good

Your right and i notice that if you have a skill before entering the university you won't get to face some challenges some students do face because of lack of money. You know going to the school our parents do think that it's so easy and after paying school fees, buying textbooks, feeding and miscellaneous everything bills has been done. But i can relate with the current student these days that these are the primary things that we do spend money in school for. There are some secondary things that we spend money on. So, if we cumulatively gather theses expenses, we will find out that it's so much for us as a student to bear.

This is where the skills need to come to play. Once a student start making use of his skill in school to make money. Some little distractions that money can cause in school would be limited. Although focusing on business or skill instead of focusing on education also result to bad academic performance.

It is very important to acquire a skill before seeking for admission. It makes life less difficult compared to not having any skill to offer, to generate extra stipends for you.
But sadly,most parents don't see it that way cause they are the ones paying your fees and bills, but not minding you have other expenses life throws at you when you leave home, in a school environment. That, leads students to do crazy and illegal stuff just to meet up and survive...

As for example, plenty university dey offer co-op program wey dey allow students to combine school and work experience based on dem area of study. This one dey give students practical experience and money wey dey fit use support themselves too for school and e dey go on like this as dem dey continue to pursue der degree. Dis kind system fit dey very helpful to many students, as e dey give them the chance to learn practical skills and make money and at the same time, them dey make progress towards education and e fit also help them to save money for the future. So to dey learn skill before getting to school dey very important for people wey no too get money, and e dey also make people use that opportunity dey self employed even wen dey don come out from school.

E dey very important and also an added advantage for those way learn skill or hand-work before gaining admission in to a high institution expecially for some of us way come from a very poor background considering how expensive school be na, I remember one of my lecturer way tell us that year say school no be for poor people e no really mean say poor people no fit go school but that school is expensive.
It was very difficult for me to cope well in school because there was no other means income unless I call people at home which their responses no go even come that time u need it.

Another advantage be say looking at the country now we have some many graduates and the white collar job vacancy is very low unless say una family get long leg, so now if you get skill or any hand work after graduation u fit start up your own work or business you don't need to learn any skill again or waiting for White collar jobs.

A lot of our youths don't take skill seriously that is one of the things regretted while I was in school was not having a skill i saw other people with skills in school especially painting and electrician and other skills that you will get some change from to sustain your self while your in school. even when you leave school you won't have much problem in surviving, my neighbor in school then knew how to paint at of that time the guy was chilling and we that don't have a skill we had to wait for our parents to send us money, that was our difference with them so if they don't pay our parents then no money for us i think when i have my on kids i will make sure i teach them the importance of having a skill.

I don see friends wey get handwork before  University and ee give dem advantage for school during dere weekends or if dem get chance dem go go hustle with dere handwork get money, but de thing dere be say na to make sure make ee no affect ur studies. Well at first the importance to learn a skill in life itself is mandatory and it becomes even more important when you are actually from a country like this where the hardship and struggles is x5 everyday so you not learning a skill is simply uncalled for because when you are not dependent on the system you can actually create ends means for yourself so you can manage it to survive because even the university on his own is a hunting place and only the prepared survives the struggles and hustles.

This topic is really a good one, because if parents that are average or poor to train there children to school can make them learn handwork before going to school will help there kids.am a living example when I got admission to the university.my parents paid all my year one institution fees.but from my year 2,I started paying my bills till I graduated because of my handwork I have as a chef.after school I cook I make noodles and spaghetti with chicken and grilled fish,I was make money and paying my school bills and living comfortable.but it was hard work and determination.

To be honest, the idea of having a legitimate source of income, especially while still a student, is very appealing; therefore, learning a skill becomes essential for those who wish to take advantage of the chance to make money while still in school, especially considering the state of the Nigerian economy and the direction of social dynamics. Before beginning their postsecondary education, people should understand how important it is to have occupational skills because of the uncertainties and difficulties that come with the current state of the economy.

When it comes to being able to support themselves and deal with the financial demands of university life, many students who have previously developed a vocational skill are in a much better position than their colleagues who only get family support. Although parents surely make every effort to meet their children's needs and wants, but it is important to recognize that their resources are limited and may not always be enough to satisfy every whim and necessity.Therefore, having a useful skill helps students pursue their academic and personal goals more confidently and steadily on their own, while also relieving financial pressure on parents.

Economic wahala and high unemployment fit discourage some parents from making education priority for their pikin.
