We can not simply ignore faucets, it has many factors influenced with bitcoin ecosystem.
1. Faucets are initial attractions for new comer into bitcoin
2. Today's less amount of satoshi may worth hundreds of dollars in future.
3. Faucets help bitocin to reach many new wallets.
4. Faucet owners buy bitcoin to refill. But users never get enough fund to sell in exchange.
5. Facets are better than PTC sites. Means, bitcoin has refreshed one online industry.

When BTC started, nobody had any and it was worthless, so it was right to give away thousands of BTC to make it popular. All that has changed. Now that BTC's worth something, now that companies are building on BTC, now that serious business transactions are made with bitcoin, it's about time for faucets to adapt.

BTC is real. It's money, and you've got to work to earn some. I hope all faucets will disappear in 2015. Faucets are hurting bitcoin by making some people believing you can get it while doing nothing sitting in your home. No, BTC isn't like that, and it shouldn't be any easier to get than any fiat currency. Even for small amounts.

Believe it or not, My Referrals make me around 60 K Satoshi a week, Me without even logging into my account, Once a week i go and withdraw what i have earned. If you take in real longterm consideration, of about 10-20 years, Just like back in the day, 5 bitcoins were given each roll. These 700- 800 satoshi per roll may become 70-80$ or may be even higher. Its not bad to have the additional income which in future may be life changing one. Bitcoin will create new elites thats for sure.

Completely and fully agree with this. I am a little tired of hearing many people say faucets are not worth it and are bad, while at the same time many other people say they are expecting Bitcoin to go up a lot.

Perhaps they are not worth it now. But maybe will be worth it later. Futhermore... you do not have to lose that much time when using faucets. I have an online job and manage to claim from faucets here and there while I am doing it (for example, when I am waiting for my email to load or a weighty page to show). It adds up.

I also agree with you, no one will get rich from the faucet nowadays, although some people have nice earnings from them.
The problem is that many use faucets in the old way, individually and with direct payments,it is bad for Bitcoin network and for them one day when
decide to spend Bitcoins, they will pay a greater fee.

Rotators make it easy when work with the faucets, and services such FaucetBox solve the problem of sending small amounts of bitcoins.
I do not see faucets as something bad for Bitcoin, in a way they help in promoting Bitcoin, and the owners of faucets buy Bitcoins to paid they users.

I think faucets are great for Bitcoin.  They introduce you to Bitcoin and are able to give you a small amount of coins without hurting anyone.  Like someone else said as well, when faucets first started and they were giving out BTC in loads, people didn't know they would one day be worth a lot of money back then.  Maybe 1000 satoshis will be worth something one day.

hello there !
i am just 3 days into bitcoin world thanks to faucets and i have good time more than any other thing or game i played in the internet so far
it is amazing to have a near-real money curency to play with ,no matter how much it worths, that reminds me some hours i spend watching serious poker playing with fun-money in pokerstars.
most of all ,the fair proof of those mini-games like dice or minesweeper it is a great experience for me and besides any profit i see my time well-spend, versus other games or internet activities.
i like reading a lot about anything interesting and there is a lot of reading around bitcoin world.

as about the statement this post has i think it is good there are faucets still around to let people like me (newcomers) to play with this wonder called bitcoin or cryptocurencies in general Smiley

have a nice day everyone ,Elias

PS my blockchain.info has already 0.32$ worth of bitcoins  Grin

It was viable when faucets paid 0.05-0.1mBTC per claim. The transaction fees was around there and it takes a few claims to cashout. However, with the rising transaction fees and price, the payouts were significantly reduced. There is much more time required to gain BTC to even get a payout.

Yup! but people trying out faucet just they have experience in a small amount of BTC, but newbies never intend to stay on faucets but there are some still on to it, and faucet isn't bad either.

Nowadays working in faucets is worthless, you have to spend long periods of your time, and a great effort resolving captchas to make very little earning, so it's not money for free, you make a hard job to earn so little profit

Why it would be worthless for a beginner to start with faucet, will certainly not click through for nothing,if he earn $ 10 a month for one or two hours in front of computer it is something, especially if it is from a country where the monthly salary is $ 20-50.
If he can reach a larger number of referrals earnings will be increased with time, there are people who earn very nice from faucets because they have a large number of referrals.

You noticed you have a rotator and may be you have great number of referrals to make this amount (10$) monthly from faucets, it's not the same case for everyone, i think the avg of earning monthly without rotator nor refs is less than 5$ monthly from faucets. Yes it's something for starters, but it's far to be called as "earning" or "free money" especially in relation with the time and the effort consumed.

They are educational but that's about it. To test your newly made wallet to see if it works, but that's all.
It isn't proportional to time vs worth. Your not making too much per claim and it would be better to invest your time in doing something else that is worthy enough of your time.
The sites now have so much advertisements and hidden code, people don't notice that drain your resources such as cpu processing power and internet connectivity. I am using an older computer and notice the cpu's fan blow into high gear when ever I visit a faucet site, so something is being triggered in the back ground of these sites whether it be scripted links embedding into the browser (cookies?) or malware. As it only happens when I go to the sites of these faucets. And hence draining my internet connection as I have applications running that rely on internet connectivity and their progress grounds to a halt when going only to these sites.
So something is going on behind the scenes here.
Just to show you "Nothing in life is free!" Even if you think completing capatcha is work enough for some "free satoshis  Cheesy"

Faucets readjusted the reward to the value of bitcoin,if all could win 1 btc for every claim ,we would be rich.Faucets were the first thing that bringed me into another level of knowhow about bitcoin, soo i dont consider them bad but a way to promote bitcoin, besides google taking advantage of them to sell more ads ,ask google if they wanna all faucets to close? The admins ,google and some members of faucets are getting daily something like 0.05 btc daily, soo is these a bad thing?

Faucets are free way of eduction for novice people of bitcoin. It attracts people and promote the idea of bitcoin.

Actually, one who really tries to get the most of faucets, and wait for next bubble can make I guess fairly good amount of money. So I don't see how faucets can be bad for Bitcoin.

The faucets are low enough that the time it takes to "earn" from them is not worth your time doing.  I think they are great and show off bitcoins micro transaction potential.

Your faucet should be hacker proof for you to pay out $10 per person per month. Not to mention what will happen if 1 000 000 people sign up for your faucet. As of today,

Freebitco.in has 1 700 000 users. If all of them claimed $10 per person per month... the owner of the site will be bankrupt within the first day.  Shocked

So you can see why the owners of faucets payout in relation to what they earn from the faucet per month. Let's just be realistic..  Roll Eyes

It's not about making money from one faucet,I use rotator and can make more then 10$ every month, spending one to two hours using faucets.
It is far from some serious profits, but watching videos on YT or playing games for hours for me is bigger waste of time.
