A little bit off topic, but isn't that case solved now.

I mean last time I heard, that exchange was asking for details from investors so as to pay them back. If they have processed the payments, shouldn't the initial decision be reversed ?

Join the world-leading crypto sportsbook NOW!

He probably wouldn't be a bad choice for a patroller to be honest going by the amount of copy and pasters he's found and reported. Getting tired of nuking them.

I will recommend deadley or skang if they are still active.
Recommendations, if not followed by supporting points to prove they're a good fit are less likely to be considerable. As far as I'm aware, I haven't seen any of those members posting actively or never came across any threads which are inclined towards the 'well-being' of the forum.

Like I previously mentioned, we need someone who is active and know the existing issues forum suffers from. But that's just me.

Because we are not posting much doesn't means, we are not active. I spend daily some hours in forum. I also recommend Skang too, he is also good guy and was very active with Indian crypto community.

I will recommend deadley or skang if they are still active.

Thanks Pankaj.

Not pointing any fingers; but many people on this forum are like that, be it the merit or the trust system.

I know few seasoned members who are capable of this position but most of them are inactive or less active at the moment. Theymos should look into this and appoint the moderator at earliest, as there is lot of cleaning required at the indian board.

Skang ain't one of signature spammer. He uses the board only for serious discussions.
The active people you are talking about , are the ones who spams the local board just to complete their weekly quota.
I have seen Skang in meetups and that man has my trust. His meetups were well organised and used to provide a good platform for serious discussions.
I dont see any reason to support any of the above user's.Just because they are active(**cough cough**campaigns**cough cough**) or they are hero/legendary doesn't make them eleigible to be a "mod".And some of them have gained trust by being an ass licker.

This is tottaly my personal opinion.I am not the one who's going to choose the mod.If you are offended then you can ignore this reply :v

+1 for skang. That guys looks honest too.
Not sure whether he will be happy about being a mod.Seems like a man busy with his life.
If he is interested in being a mod, then I vote for him too.

Theymos hasn't acknowledged the thread yet and we have no idea what he has to say about this.Maybe he has other plans for finding a suitable Mod.

Please make him the mod; looks like a useful individual...
Haha Thanks for your compliment but like I said I wouldn't even stand close to the eligible member who actually deserve to be a MOD.I mean they should be very high in numbers when it comes to submitting reports and overall report accuracy.Secondly,I'm just not interested/responsible enough to take that position.

P.S. We can even have a voting exercise among 2-3 candidates who appear to be suitable.

Not their nationality; but a knowledge of the local languages and attitudes is a must, I definitely don't want someone mocking the Indians in a racist manner for reporting the posts with reverence just because we have a habit of looking up to authorities or those in a position with power.

And that itself is a racist thing to assume that only Indians have a habit of looking up to the people in power or revering them. Its common with any culture across the planet, it's human nature. Although I am sure your intentions were not racially biased when you wrote that sentence.

I am very much aware that Full Member ain't high-ranking nor that I am experienced, but to get a rejection even though you haven't applied is highly amusing.

Xal0lex was just made a mod of the Russian board and he is only a Full Member. I think I became a mod at Full Member or at the latest Senior. I think being an established member is important but it's whether you are actually willing to put in the time and effort and to do so and in an accurate way that is the most important thing and to be an active reporter is the best way to do that currently.

The only thing I wanted to do by establishing those guidelines was to remove myself from the contention in a subtle way; because I know that many people believe that commenting on such threads automatically means that you are applying for it (not that I find any problem in the fact that people are applying for it directly as @apoorvalathey did; it's fine); as is quite evident by the tete between @TheUltraElite and @joel.

P.S.: @joel if you are applying for it; I've seen your posts and activities since Nov and wasn't even aware that you are an Indian; I do feel that you will be one of the suitable candidates and you do give the forum enough time.

Question is, would they be willing to reveal their nationality at all? Privacy issues? Roll Eyes

If they want the job, then they must. Its a position of power, they'll essentially be the face of Bitcoin in the country, just like how Benson has been for all these years.

Although I agree to what you said, but many people like to think that it's an attribute exclusive to SE Asians on this forum.

This. He claims to have brought up this context before as well. Dont get me wrong but it seems to me now that Joel is actually trying to promote their own name for the new mod taking advantage of the situation of the Coinsecure and Benson being AWOL (??)Not that I would have any objection to it. (I dont know about others though)
How am I taking advantage of the situation ?  FYI,theymos removed Benson explicitly stating,
Note that I removed Benson Samuel as moderator, but only because I view the situation as potentially too much of a conflict of interest. I have no reason to doubt Benson Samuel's character.
which I totally agree with. Here is my post (a year back) where you could see me whining about no strict moderation in the Indian Sub : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.19271392

But nice of you to put it in the Disclaimer.
Because I knew there could be cases of an ad hominem attack.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
If Theymos is indeed looking for a moderator of the Indian board, I would like to throw my hat in the ring as well. I may not be an established member of the community, given that I frequent most other boards as well. I have the time and I do report posts to mods frequently.

Theymos did not make any statement that he needs a new moderator. Joel_Jansten is simply pointing out the fact that the Indian Local board need a mod, along with the recent issues at Coinsecure and Benson being busy - not being able to moderate the section.

I doubt it is not just a hack but Indian forum lacks strong moderation in general.I had brought up the issue a few months back as well (unfortunately I couldn't find the thread)

EDIT : This thread is for general recommendations and I'm not self promoting by any means. Additionally, I'm not interested in becoming a moderator since it's a job which requires time and quite an amount of effort which I can't commit to.

Fact is, there are not many established old timers from India who are still active anymore. And its an imperative that to be an Indian mod you HAVE to be someone from India.
