I finally bought some and was happy with my packs.

Yesterday at the conference I was told Series 2 is already 80% (or more now) sold out!

Did u guys see the presale started for the Bitcoin 2023 commemorative series. They're doing one for every conference they go to. Very limited to 2100 packs. I just picked one up to see what it's all about. Unfortunately I missed out on the orange pill packs.

I think the market can support both card projects. They are different in many respects. The main being 1 million cards vs 70000. I think in the end both will be valuable. I will be diving into series 2 if i get the chance. Series 1 was gone before i could buy. Definitely wont start my collection at these prices

Is the market that hot for these? The cynic in me says they’re being bid up to promote those prices online

I don't think the prices are being manipulated.
Series 1 sold out so quickly I think people are really feeling the FOMO on these cards.
They also have some known Bitcoin people involved with the project, so word is getting around quick with some earlier Hodlers.

I collect the Cardsmiths currency cards as well, but looking like these BTC cards might end up having higher collectible value.

It's also about the scope of the cards....   these are purely Bitcoin related
The Cardsmiths are about currency in general, thus them featuring non-crypto related things and people.

It also has to do with the marketing and people involved.
I would gather that if Cardsmiths had been introduced at Pacific Bitcoin conference and pumped on Scarce City like the recent/current auctions, they would be just as hyped/valued as these

...just my 2 satoshis

The reason I never got into Cardsmiths is because they have shitcoin cards. Everything I collect is purely Bitcoin related. The only piece I have in my collection that is not Bitcoin related is a Dennis Rodman signed Potcoin card, that was too good to pass up lol.

Bitcoin trading cards is unique because they are the first Bitcoin only trading cards. No "crypto" bs is involved.

I thought the same. Need more than one marketplace to ensure level playing field.   Cardsmiths on becketts, comc, mercari, ebay etc. Hard to manipulate the price

Managed to get some sealed series 1 packs. Considering the prices some of these cards were going for at auction, I'm afraid to open them.
Seems like collectors are going crazy for these cards.

I have a sealed series 1 box sitting on my desk right now. I am scared to open it too.

I mean look at the prices these cards went for the other day: https://scarce.city/collections/bitcoin-trading-cards-2

Wanna sell?

I would for the right price, and have had a couple other PM's about selling, but I honestly don't even know what to value the box at considering that some of the cards are selling for that much
