in this very interesting thread, we would also like to be transparent for our collecting community and show you what our private key behind the Icarus hologram looks like
the pk consists of a qr-code, which also protects those who damage the qr-code when peeling the hologram through a certain redundancy - the qr-code is then still intact and you can extract the pk.
it is important that the 3 larger squares are not damaged!
you can see what that looks like in this short video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ntIrjnHJ5-AkR7Uqyh6xgK6b3PPA-H0r/view

Beautiful coin and what a hold. Congrats on that. Make sure you yoink the BCH off there too if you haven't already. From my observations we shouldn't ever have to worry about Casascius, CryptoImperator, Lealana or BTCC private key inks fading on us anytime soon. I still wonder if they took this possibility of ink degradation into mind during the earlier mints of these coins. But i'll be watching, waiting in the shadows. Thanks for the bump and the pictures.. everyone here appreciates it.

I would have to find the thread again but there was a xmr Lealana where the ink literally faded when peeled in the matter of just taking pictures it was noticeably fading.

That is the only one I have heard of or seen that did that though.
I do remember that thread now! I want to say it was green ink for some reason. I can't imagine us letting it go without smoothie chiming in or us figuring out the problem though hmmm. Would be interesting to find. I spent 10 minutes with the amazing search function we have but to no avail.

smoothie did help resolve it and rxalts was able to recover the xmr.

I think there might have been a second thread, but this is the one I found.

Woah, that was definitely scary! People have been asking me how to remove the hologram without damaging the private key. Do you have any tips on the best way to do it or what to pay special attention to? Also, congrats on holding onto that artwork for such a long time!

Any Casascius Peel dates coming up or anyone have any to report?

2025 Perhaps?

Interested in how this is progressing.

Thanks!

Not sure if you mean this thread but... https://casasciustracker.com/

TeeGumes seems to have been busy or away a while. I wonder the status of this project, but not worried. Wink
Sorry guys, kinda lost steam and passion for this since the forum tech just doesn't show imgur links anymore. Let's say you're selling a coin and the buyer is unsure of the contents of the paperslip/ink condition I can on request check and verify that one exposed to the elements is indeed fine. I've just been visually checking yearly to confirm the ink is still viewable, just haven't thrown them under the scope.
Surprised there's no AI quick fix to fix all the broken images on this forum. Many many gem threads have lost their sparkle in this way.

I noticed the same problems over here. Best of luck. waterproof plate savant.

Hey @teeGUMES,
I agree it’s a bummer to not see all the great pics that were posted.
Not sure about an AI to resolve this - but the pics are not all lost.
If you “inspect” the page on the thread, you can see all the original Imgur links.
Granted it would be a bit of a pain to take those images - download them, re-upload, and relink them all using a different image hosting service that works with the current forum.
But technically it’s all there.
Maybe a project for someone with a bit more time to do.  Wink  Cool
Thanks!

PS - Hey bucky - i miss you, where ya been bro? Grin

Damnit... Somebody posted some script or fix for this to move links from imgur to talkimg - I'll have to dig around for it, it's a separate thread somewhere. Tongue

Edit - Found it!

I peeled my Titan this week. I will go grab some pics and see if I can post them.
What happened to your Titan?

On another note, any chance you would add some Moonbits to your list @teeGUMES ?

Love this thread, amazing effort. If you want I can peel one and send some high quality pics. Or just send you the sweeped chip.
If you prefer to peel your self, can also send you a chip for just the funding + shipping price, let me know. Smiley

Is it better to store these in a box with little-to-no air flow and desiccants? (Those little "do-not-eat" packages)

Is a dry environment best or is a bit of moisture better?

Thanks!

I store my coins and collectables in an air tight box or container with the silica gel packets away from any light as well...just like I store my stamps.

I also in that same box with the other boxes...place a large  Rechargeable Silica Gel 450 Gram Carton...that once saturated with water can be heated in an oven and be used all over again.

Moisture and light are my enemies here...so for my mags...I take color photo copies of the product and display that on my wall and not the actual item.
Did the same for my bitbills...only copies are displayed...wouldn't want the light to fade away my items.

Ideally, a climate controlled environment is best. I use an airtight box for unslabbed/ungraded coins, and yes I use dessicant packages as well, just to be safe. Metals and moisture are a bad thing IMO
