I'm all for it. This guy has been making physical NFT cards for a while: https://xcer.co/

I've actually done a few myself, though I can't ship any at the moment:

Let's face it: this forum is dying. It needs all the attention it can get. Maybe a sub-board for NFTs would be a good compromise.

I am great with NFT's for physical items - I would just prefer to have the physical item - the nft can be deleted or "unhosted" and then poof it is gone.

Same problems can happen with physical items: they can get damaged, lost, or stolen. They are also subject to forgeries and scams.

Like physical items, if the NFTs are made and stored correctly they can last a long time.

Perhaps but i still prefer it to any nft - I will never purchase a nft.

DM me your XCP bitcoin address, Mopar.
I'd like to send you a free NFT.
If you can't accept, I'd bet TCK would be interested.
Offer is good for both Smiley

I have one and have a few xcp nfts - none I would ever pay for but ones that were given or accompanied a physical item

I think I’m time the digital aspect may come into its own but atm I think ALOT of people see the digital as more of a fad.

All the arguments that bitcoiners make against NFTs are the same ones that nocoiners have been making against bitcoin for years:

- its just a fad
- its not real
- its a Ponzi scheme
- it has no intrinsic value

Bitcoin was the first purely digital representation of currency.

NFTs are purely digital representations of everything else.

100%
I wonder how many numismatists take our crypto coin collecting seriously? [add] Using the same arguments

We've seen an influx of new buyers and enthusiasts from at least one coinmaker's Twitter following, and that's probably good for the forum in the long term, the same way that an influx of new collector's, artists and maker/creators is a good thing.
Y'all all just gotta look out for y'all~

So I sent you enough merits to rank up to Full Member, now you can wear a sweet avatar.

In any case, you should just do it.

I started a Bitcoin NFT-related sales thread in Goods... Seems like the most appropriate place to post them for now. Until NFTs get a sub-board, which they should.

 physical XCP piece?

100%
A great example of the physical with the accompanyying NFT,  a collab between Vlad and Rare Scrilla, here: https://xchain.io/asset/FAKEBTCTKVR on the bitcoin blockchain.

If you bought the mag from scarce.city or Vlad you own the NFT of the cover art.
It doesn't have to live anywhere but in your cold storage wallet at a legacy or segwit address.
It can be viewed in a number of wallets without entering your private key.
I personally trust the bitcoin blockchain with my money and now my art and collectibles.
I can't say that any other blockchain I am aware of that NFT art is being produced on offers the same security.
There's 118 pages of paper that could be damaged or stolen, but the NFT lives immutably on the blockchain.

These were auctioned of on Scarce City, which each magazine sold increasing in price and accompanied by the NFT. Only 41 copies were sold... For  some reason I bought 2 lol. If anyone wants one - let me know.

Also consider minting some 1g or 1 oz silver rounds. Those usually sell out and can also become collectibles. You could leave part of the coin flat for hand embellishment or stamping of serial numbers, that adds extra value also.

If you're saying with one side blank it can become a 1:1 collectible with the owner making their preferred design on the other side of the coin, if that's so, bring it on.

Hell, sell me a 1/21 DIY kit with five slugs and XCP NFT minting instructions for a series of DIY coins- I'd buy.
Even if I didn't participate, just to collect the first DIY COIN NFT kit.
Anybody else share my sickness lmao???

Xcer is making dope physical collectibles/NFTs minted on the XCP blockchain.
I'm not sure of the tech, but I'm not crazy about the XXCER.prefix (ie. XXCER.RARECOLLECTIBLE) that gets tagged onto historical assets when redeemed. That and having to use their site to redeem the NFT (I wouldn't anyway, I'd leave it locked on the card) is adding another party to depend upon/trust and we've seen how that worked out with Titan, a once reputable coinmaker.
I have no issue buying their originally created/minted sets, though, and as stated above, I'd leave the NFT locked on the card (I think, as an example, of a fully funded and a peeled coin - you retain the physical, but you've sold off or moved the coresponding value - somebody correct me if this is a bad anology).

Not a shill for them, but they probably have the coolest complete set of 21 baseball cards (or 42 baseball NFT's) you'll ever own: https://xcer.co/product/1649859332876x495965899793615170

And then there's that thing about the forum. I wouldn't say it's dying, but it's definitely changing and maybe going through a bit of a staid period. We've seen an influx of new buyers and enthusiasts from at least one coinmaker's Twitter following, and that's probably good for the forum in the long term, the same way that an influx of new collector's, artists and maker/creators is a good thing.

I was thinking of the same concerns others had of the collectibles board been inundated
with NFT threads but yea a child board specifically for NTF's is a great idea and could compliment
the collectibles one  and increase traffic.

It just goes to show there are other spaces where people are buying, selling and trading crypto
collectibles, I for one am only aware of a few of them and wasnt aware of XCP ?

There are a lot of cool collectibles out there and many have made their way here over the years, but we have predominantly been a "coin shop".
I'm glad to see magazines and ephemera when they go on sale -- and they make up a larger part of many collections than coins, piece for piece.
And always look forward to the art - in XCP NFT land there can be sub-assets of any given asset.
I think a collector can look at NFTs as sub-assets of the physical, or even physicals as sub-assets of the NFT, depending.

Check out XCP, it doesn't sound like you'll be dissapointed~

Agree on the physical front. Digital NFT collectors will not only flood the forum, but the amount of theft/scams/negative activity will increase also.

Glad to hear that and I hope the consensus here would remain that physical art with digital assets (NFTs) is a good thing.

I disagree with you from my experience with XCP on the bitcoin blockchain.

In fact, more scams have been perpetrated on the forum in the collectibles group during the time I've been involved with groups on XCP. Like here, there's a solid community of people looking out for each other and newbies, warning of fraud or bad actors.

And in terms of the physical collector like myself looking to also have digital assets, or the digital collector learning about physicals, you're right the forum will be flooded with hungry, passionate collectors on the BTC blockchain.
