I'm new, and totally excited to see how I can build up a mining rig to run 24/7 (hopefully with help from solar panels). Running on my spare PC right now, with an ATI 4850 doing about 80-82Mhash/s on BTCGuild. Overclocked the GPU to 725, underclocked Memory to 500 and it has been running steady for about 24 hours no hiccups.

My plan is to build a system with 3 or 4 ATI 5830's running (hopefully) about 300Mhash/s each when I move into my new place (I live in the boonies). I have already planned to invest in solar power for my home and was thinking of going the easy route (dubya dubya dubya clarianpower.com/solar.html) so I am not really worried about the electrical costs, as well as lighting costs due to the house using as much natural light as possible. I will probably have to use PCI-E extenders and build a custom case for the rig as well. I may have to use water cooling, but I am a total newb when it comes to that. That's pretty much it!

An intro thread for a medium based upon anonimity Smiley

Anyway, I heard about bitcoins after reading an article about someone losing $500,000 on this stuff to a hacker.  Just poking my nose around doing "research."

Hey,

its me!!!!

Post to get out of this noob shizzle

If you have such a HUGE problem coming up with something new to say - WHY are you complaining (polite term) Huh
]
You can READ all of the forums as a "guest" so unless you an "opinionated curmudgeon (like me!) what is your problem??  Huh

Well that is an odd question... To post replies to post that I find interesting, which I can not since I am apparently a newb?
I have been browsing this forum a lot as a guest. Now I decided to be able to respond people. Is that so bad?

Hi,

I'm Tom and yes, I know, I have a stupid username (tominator).  Tongue

I've been following bitcoins for a little over a month now and I have made about $1,000 now just by mining and selling coins using a couple of my computers.

By trade, I'm a web developer and computer programmer.

I tend to lurk a lot on the forums and on reddit.com/r/bitcoin, just reading and hardly every saying much. Every now and then I see someone posting something similar to my viewpoints on things, but I'm finally getting to a point where I feel like piping up with a comment or two of my own, which is why I came here to introduce myself.

So yeah. That's me.

We created http://CurrencyTycoon.com - a currency simulation game - includes BTC so you can practice Bitcoin day-trading with rates from the real world, starting with $1,000,000 USD in the bank. Uses OpenID for login and can be accessed from a mobile device. Currently looking for some beta-testers! Thanks.

Hi, I'm here to insult mt. gox constantly for the complete ineptness of it's owner, his failure to do anything reasonable to protect his website, and to beg Kevin to keep every last dime he can get a hold of in the hopes that pathetic excuse for an exchange gets tanked and the owner is left destitute. That is what he deserves.

Those 600 or so BTC are rightfully yours.
