I think you should buy Bitcoin instead of buying at ICO. Because ICO is very risky especially your newcomer in the crypto market. You do not really know which good coin. If you buy and invest in Bitcoin it has proven to be very promising for investment assets.

My advice is better you buy Bitcoin and keep it as your investment coin.
If you are investing in ICO then you must have a lot of experience, while you are a beginner and in ICO Project should choose a good and potentially successful project this is one of the risky challenges when you are a beginner.
You should make a Bitcoin purchase only.

It all probably depends on the type of risk appetite you have. If you are looking for huge gains with huge rewards, then i would suggest doing ICO research ( takes a lot of patience and research because lots of ICOs out there are complete scams). If you are looking long-term steady growth, simply invest in Bitcoin. You can't go wrong with bitcoin.

Bitcoin is still a good investment but if a newbie like what happened last year who starts in time the price pumps then dump it might be a frustration. Better study first the market and see its potentials to not regret anything at all.

Most ICOs these days are not worth buying during the token sale. The bonuses some lavish investors just to get funded tends to get dumped on exchanges, dragging the price well below the ICO price. Factor in bounty hunters and you're better off buying off exchanges

I will always prefer Bitcoin. It has proven itself already and I know what to expect. On the other hand ICO can deliver a lot more profit, but need a lot more time to research to find the right ICO.
I still prefer Bitcoin, but splitting the investment between the two option is not bad, either.
