Very interesting article HIGH MOBILITY and the
IOTA Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the integration of IOTA content, blueprints and tutorials into HIGH MOBILITY´s developer platform.
HIGH MOBILITY envisions solving one of the key challenges for carmakers as well as app developers: how can big corporates engage and work with thousands of independent developers simultaneously and how can a developer use standardized car APIs for seamless prototyping? Through community and collaboration HIGH MOBILITY bridges the gap between car manufacturers and app developers to enable new mobility services and apps.
The first joint project, executed in just a few weeks, demonstrates why agile startups like HIGH MOBILITY are well-placed to accelerate IOTA’s technology. From this project forward HIGH MOBILITY is now a key player in the IOTA Foundation’s ecosystem. To launch the collaboration, the two companies have focused on a blueprint for smart charging as this effectively demonstrates how developers can build and test apps using HIGH MOBILITY’s standardized connected car API on the IOTA platform. The initiative aims to translate the value of IOTA’s open source technology into real world applications and catalyzes the ecosystem of both parties.
IOTA’s open source technology offers new opportunities for autonomous and electric vehicles and infrastructure, fostering ride and car-sharing applications and connecting mobility participants in a new peer-to-peer ecosystem.
“Over the last month the Foundation has matured its open and permissionless mobility and automotive ecosystem and an “early adopter movement” has been started. As the industry begins to recognize the huge potential of distributed ledger technology it is essential to establish collaborations that enable permanent innovation and the growth of a multi-player ecosystem. When I met the founders Kevin and Risto in 2016 in Stuttgart, I immediately liked their pragmatic approach and focus on solving real industry problems. I am convinced that bridging the gap between corporates and developers and implementing easy to use and scalable tools will solve major pain points in adoption,” said Alisa Maas, Head of Mobility and Automotive, IOTA Foundation.
“We have seen a lot of interest from developers in combining vehicle data with distributed ledger technologies. With IOTA’s ledger and the team’s vision for future mobility, we will see it being applied by many new services. The type of applications that can be enabled with IOTA’s cutting edge technology and vehicle data are many. In the first blueprint we see not only how vehicle data can be put onto a ledger, but also how it can be combined with charging infrastructure and payments. I’m confident that this will get ideas flowing in our community,” said Kevin Valdek, CTO, HIGH MOBILITY...
