IOTA team has been working with real brick-and-mortar companies to build a platform they want to use in their own current and future businesses, rather than creating a platform dreamed up by some academics in their sterile ivory towers without constant feedback from the target users (okay, I won't name names...but one such project is even sitting above IOTA in market cap at the moment).
So, I'm very optimistic that, even if the complete vision of IOTA (and Qubic) is materialized at about the same time as some other competitors, it will be very well placed to be adopted and deployed in the real business settings much sooner.
Plus, I personally think the name and logo really suit the project

Main reason is I see no real deal breakers for IOTA to become the standardized DLT protocol in the near feature. Scalable, environment friendly, zero fees.
When Qubic is ready the potential is unimaginable. It can really solve world problems. Fight corruption, fight money laundering, fight election fraud, give transparency to the public, offer payment and value storage for uncivilized parts of the worlds, etc, etc.

Why I think iota is the key is an easy choice. Tech. World class talent. Massive companies on board. Vision. Interoperability. Scope of IoT applications. Potential for disruption. And all of it tokenized and available for the average person who sees it coming.

At the Startup Autobahn, companies and startups share their creative ideas and are presented to attendees. At the event were present companies like Porsche and Mercedes.

“Get #ready. Expo Day is about to open its doors. 31 #startups, 13 countries and 1 #goal. To showcase what they have achieved in recent months.”
IOTA has been participating with several companies in different industries to create standards for the IoT world. This is not the first time that IOTA enters the automotive space. Back in June, we wrote at UseThBitcoin that Volkswagen released an over-the-air Proof of Concept developed with the IOTA Foundation.
The information was provided by Johann Jungwirth, Chief Digital Officer of Volkswagen Group. He wrote on twitter:
“Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) are crucial for the future of trusted transactions. IOTA has great potential to become a DLT leader with the Tangle approach.”
Additionally, in February 2018, at the Bosch Connected World Conference, Jungwirth said that IOTA has different potential use cases that would help the automotive industry improve and grow.
IOTA has created the Tangle, a revolutionary technology that can be applied to artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and more.
Currently, IOTA is one of the most known cryptocurrencies and blockchain networks in the market. It is the 9th most important cryptocurrency by market capitalization and its currency has a price of $0.97 dollars.
Other company that is working with IOTA’s Tangle is Bosch, which is driving the adoption of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) in the Internet of Things (IoT) industry.

So which one is come-from-beyond? Is it the third man standing from the right in the black t-shirt?
I'm currently comparing other IoT projects to IOTA, and it seems to me that IOTA really lacks critical features.
One of these is privacy: I mean, how can IOTA ever become the infrastructure of IoT if it can't guarantee privacy? Connecting IoT devices to a global network means sharing very personal informations, possibly more than what we share now on socials by means of our smartphones. What about our home devices? And health data?
Also I've been left to the status of IOTA in October 2017: at that time the wallet was having huge problems connecting and transactions didn't go through. How is the transaction time at the moment? Is it like 2 minutes as someone wrote above? If so, how do you expect IOTA to support IoT transactions? In IoT scenarios, embedded devices are expected to react relatively quickly to changes in the environment (think of house doors closing when I leave my apartment... 2 minutes looks like enough time for a thief to make it into my house).
There are excellent blockchain solutions popping up out there, look at IoTex: is IOTA going to be up to it? Honestly, I don't think so.

Well, my favourite one is IoTeX (www.iotex.io | www.t.me/iotexgroup): the team is too good to be true, and after only three months from token issuance the mainnet preview is expected for October 31st.
I agree that there are no active IoT mainnets except IOTA, and that makes things even more interesting: even IOTA, after one (or two I'm not sure) years of development still could not overcome many limitation due to the Tangle design (like an "innovation in blockchain innovation") which could take still years before it finds it's role into the distributed networks space.
If IoTeX will deliver, I think very soon we will have the first IoT blockchain actually working: they provide:
- unlimited tps,
- massive scalability,
- instant tx confirmation,
- full privacy,
- subchains to compartimentize different devices classes/manufacturers/applications,
- lightweight cryptography to run privacy even on embedded devices...
- smart contracts
all of this is in testnet already, to be delivered in mainnet-preview by October 31, developed by a team of PhDs, expert engineers coming from Facebook, Google, Uber, and Bosh, and many other top level members.
Honestly, I see that like the IoT leaders with a ready working blockchain very soon.
I personally believe that ways to remove bad stars from the assembly will be a good addition over time. If the Qubic inventor can determine what assembly to utilize he'd probably go for the main one with constant consensus. The "value" of the assembly will therefore be higher.
