12:12 AM And I can only send 1 tx in those 3 days
Dominik Schiener
12:12 AM if you haven't replayed your txs, it got pushed back, so if someone is not doing a tx in babysit mode it may never be confirmed.
_mr_e
12:12 AM And this can easily get worse if the attacker ups his game
Dominik Schiener
12:12 AM we're going to run a couple of spammers now, so lets see how it goes
12:12 then the network needs to do something about it
12:12 the attacker is doing us a great public service
_mr_e
12:13 AM So what is the network doing???
Dominik Schiener
12:13 AM without him we would probably still be at a 20k tx count
_mr_e
12:13 AM Spamming the Tangle so it takes all the new participants a week to download the chain?
12:13 Already?
Dominik Schiener
12:14 AM no
Pascal L.
12:16 AM Wtf dose Iota just use one core when using Baybysit mode?
Dominik Schiener
12:16 AM it checks for txs to confirm
12:16 takes time. After that it goes to use all chosen cores
Pascal L.
12:17 AM Ah okay, thanks
_mr_e
12:52 AM @dominik:
then the network needs to do something about it
So what is the network doing about it?
12:53 Is there some kind of a code based solution coming or do we just have to outspam attackers for all eternity?
12:55 also, I have been replaying
12:56 but it does not help
12:57 I also have someone who has sent me some iota, but it won't confirm either
12:57 so I cannot send their btc
Scott
12:58 AM They are working on it, patience required
_mr_e
12:58 AM that's good to hear
12:58 I am just trying to understand on what exactly they are working on?
12:58 code changes? more spamming?
12:58 is there any official aknowledgement of the problem and what is being done to solve it? (edited)
12:59 or any eta
12:59 or anything at all

ad 1) The iota-gui-beta-1.0.1.zip for the source is empty (except for the README.md file). And I guess it isn't included in the other files as well (e.g. the .exe cannot contain source files).

Unobfuscated Java binaries are equivalent to source code.

Admit the hack weirdo!

And; no im not dolores12

What do you mean with "everything was fine"?
Was the tx 100% before and now it's back to 0%? That happens sometimes when your node syncs but no reason to worry, it will jump back shortly.

Yes, tx was 100% and showing within the balance. Will wait for the new wallet now and then try to sync.

Thanks for the answers, btw  Smiley

You should try  Wink

hint: if you're using the exe, the source will usually be extracted to C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Programs\IOTA Wallet\resources\IRI\src\iri

I have 1 transaction stuck with 0% on both seeds and they don't appear on either balance. Everything was fine a few days ago, but now it is unconfirmed. Fortunately, this was just a test tx of 1i.

Double check please, if a tx has 0% you will see it as balance in the account that sent the iotas.

It's not really possible to lose your iotas unless you forget your seed, your seed get's stolen, you send to a wrong address, or reuse an address several times.

Although Admiral_Bit might be a scammer... I'm a bit confused about the software and the approach how it is developed. I'm not an expert in cryptocurrency software, but in general, for example, you would not change APIs in a version update from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 which is currently the case. Changes in the minor version number normally indicate patches/bugfixes. Even if the developers do not go with the common major.minor.patch version scheme, I find it still confusing to announce big API changes with only such a small version number change. That said, the GUI wallet is currently not fully working for some users as you can see in the slack channels.

Can somebody answer me the following questions please:

1) Where can the source code of the GUI wallet be found? We are all running a software here which claims to be open source, but as far as I can see the source code is available nowhere. Who actually knows what the program is doing on your PC? It might even be a DDOS client for the developers (no offence!), who knows... ;-)

2) As I said already I am not an expert with cryptocurrency software. However I know that every software has bugs. Since there obviously are people that cannot transfer IOTAs with the current version or having problems running the wallet in general, how is guaranteed that no IOTAs are getting "lost" due to a bug in the wallet or the underlying system. People are trading IOTAs for xx BTCs but if a new version is coming along or if you cannot update to a new version that introduces API changes, how can you access your IOTAs still?

If anyone could shed some light on these to things I would be very happy. :-)

Thanks!

1) open source since the beginning. Source code is included in all downloads: https://github.com/iotaledger/iota-gui-beta/releases
2) Either a tx does not go through and remains 0% confirmed, then the balance remains in your account. Or it's 100% then it leaves your account. It's not really possible to lose your iotas unless you forget your seed, your seed get's stolen, you send to a wrong address, or reuse an address several times.

Admiral_twit is a con-artist, you were warned!

------------------------------------------------------------

... Yes I am really bad and really no one should deal with me...

... to be fair I have to admit that the trolling grew a bit out of hand ...

... why do the sellers react to it every time when I post that moronic story about the Price Gauging (sic)?...

... I have collected 15k€ over the last 2 weeks with my friends to invest in IOTA

Die Devise ist: 1. fudden, 2. billig einsteigen, 3. Mit Gewinn wieder raus.

Ich bereite übrigens gerade einen neuen Schlag gegen IOTA vor. Danach ist das Ding fertig...

The motto is: 1. fudd, 2. buy cheap, 3. get out with profit.
By the way, I am currently preparing a new strike against IOTA. After that, the thing will be finished
...

Beware of price gouging!!!

I´d like to remind all potential buyers of the fact, that all IOTA OTC offers on BTCtalk are way beyond any reasonable market price . Before you buy from OTC sellers keep in mind that the current offers reflect a projected initial market cap of 15 - 30 million $. Price markups reach from 2000% - 4000% on the initial ICO price. --> The price your seller actually payed for his coins.

There is not one single crypto or oldschool derivate which would have justified an ICO or IPS surcharge of over 2000 %. Remember; Bitcoin uplift took several years; Etherium exchange price was way below current IOTA ICO price multiplicators

It just does not happen on this planet... If you buy 100Gigiota for 1,5 BTC now you will get ripped off and it will take months of market time to recover from your financial quick shot.

As for a serious suggestion: Wait to buy IOTA until they are traded on the exchanges. All market rules indicate an exchange price which does not exceed 100GIOTA / 0,5 BTC.

Right now OTC sellers can be devided into 1 of the following strategies:

1. Seller believes that exchange price will be way lower than rigged OTC offers on Bitcointalk. If this would not be the case, seller would wait until the sale on exchange markets
2. Seller believes that the outlook on IOTAS potential is overall limited and expects an early crash. Selling via OTC has biggest potential of ROI

Consider; what other reason would a seller have to offer IOTAS at the current price? If prices on exchanges happen to magically multiply by 3 - 10 times of current OTC price (this would constitute an initial exchange markup of 6000 % to 40000% compared to ICO), why would anyone sell now? Charity?

You see; none of the offers here will lead you to quick ROI. Every investment into a new cryto coin comes along with a certain degree of risk. Buying OTC prices will multiply your risk. Believe me; risk assessments are part of my daily business....

Conclusion: All IOTA OTC offers on BTCtalk are intransparent, rigged and overpriced.

Think now; thank me later. If you think my post is FUD just recalculate your risk for yourself...

UPDATE: Price confirmed by IOTA DEV:

BTW. what about my bet:

im betting 0,5 BTC that exchange prices of IOTA will be under 0,5 BTC / 100Gigiota 24 hours after exchange start.

@Sellers: Since your prices are so modest, whats the prob with joining the bet? Just do it...

I won't bet against that, it's probable.
