Thank you for compiling and publishing the list! It looks like the IRS has changed the link for their exempt organizations search tool. [Edit because the forum auto-blocked the link as suspicious Undecided] Domain is the same, but directory portion of the URL is now: /charities-non-profits/tax-exempt-organization-search

I'm hoping to have our educational nonprofit, the okTurtles Foundation, added to the list. On our donation page, we have two BTC addresses, with one supporting segwit.

okTurtles Foundation : 47-1188610 : Miami, FL : okturtles.org

Thanks Smiley

It's probably a good idea to send a link of this thread to The Pineapple Fund (https://pineapplefund.org/), since they're constantly in search of charitable organizations to donate to they might be interested.
The page from the link you gave provides no way that I can see for contacting the Pineapple Fund. Maybe you know another way and can take care of that for us?  Thanks so much.

Bumping this thread.

Anyone know of any International Legit Aid agencies that accept Bitcoin or Altcoin donations?

The list on the first page had some. Are looking for anything in particular?

Sorry, SeedMadagascar. Your charity does not meet the first criterion for listing here. (See first post of this topic thread.)

Hi there!

I'm hoping to get my charity on your list: its SEED Madagascar. We have recently decided to accept Bitcoin donations and need to get the word out.

Thank you!

Great list. Does anyone know of any Charities/Foundations that support Blockchain related activities such as the Ethereum Foundation?

I'm surprised that American Red Cross isn't the list. However, i don't found any statement from their website even though many news media have shared about it long time ago. Forgive me if i gave wrong information.
Yes, when I first set up this resource, BitPay was signing up a lot of charities - large and small - and the larger ones got a lot of press fanfare.  But several of those charities never really embraced bitcoin enough to facilitate donations through their web sites, and hence don't meet the criteria for the listing here. The American Red Cross was one such charity.

It's a little buried on their web site, but it is there.  Here's the link to the page: https://www.centraltexasfoodbank.org/get-involved/donate

Our semi-annual review discovered the following charities no longer qualify for inclusion on this list – all, because they no longer have a bitcoin donation option on their web sites...

Blue Alert Foundation : 45-5607994 : Venice FL : bluealert.us
Apache Software Foundation : 47-0825376 : Forest Hill MD : apache.org

I'm adding allgoodthings1 to my cool book. He asked me to send his tip to a charity. As per his wishes, I sent it to https://thewaterproject.org/ . It looks like a good cause. Thanks again for making this helpful list.

Can you give us a short explanation on how the vetting is done and verified?

There has been no vetting of the charities on this list, except for that which the IRS does to give and renew their 501(c)(3) status. This is simply a listing of all the organizations that meet the two criteria mentioned above. Some of the organizations do refer to their standing with respected third-party reviewing groups; but every donor must do his/her own due diligence in selecting where to donate.

Who is doing the vetting? How do we know we can trust you with this... ? Can you give us a short explanation on how the vetting is done and verified?  It would be sad if

we donated to some of these charities and later find out that the vetting was not done properly and that the donations was going to someone else s pockets.  Roll Eyes

If done properly, I would thank you in advance for a job well done. Charities are close to my heart...  Wink

Hi, what about NGOs outside the US? As far as I know only US charities get approved by the 501(c)(3)....
501(c)(3) is a U.S. tax provision for U.S. charities, for the benefit of U.S. taxpayers.  Some send part or all of their income (donations) to support foreign entities; most do not.
