I think you forgot to check first the history of bitcoin as the first crypto currency. Many are now millionaires because of bitcoin, that is why making such kind of amount is no impossible because it was already proven by bitcoin. When it comes to altcoins i believe that many are already gained millions of dollars when you invest during the private or the pre-sale time in eth and litecoin, and I think neo investors in neo too.

I don't think a million is possible. Crypto isn't going anywhere. Crypto might go up to 2 trillion the most we will see in our lifetime. And if you have strong hand u will likely survive. I dont think big name wall street backers are into crypto like the teens. These days teens are depositing into crypto and it will take years for growth. We wait will every year for a bull run on the holiday season. Hardfork. Almost dead technology. With no recognition.
To become a millionaire with blockchain is not as hard has it seems, what matters is your ability to invest wisely, your resolve when the market is going down and also the amount that has been invested.
If you already have 100 000 - 200 000 dollars, so make x5- x10 during one year will be not problem. Many people become millioners with blockchain, but depend how much money you have at start

If one were to buy and hold solid avaerge coins (not a coin that kicks out and gets 10000% gain), but rather a nice steady gain like eth, Ltc etc (top 20) and starts with 10k, is it possible to reach a million without trading and buying/selling at highs and lows? If so, how long would you predict it would take? Or are most coins not going to last long term, so every 6 months would I have to rebalance with newer coins?

I think that's very possible. Provided you do it the right way, and wisely. Can earn millions of dollars by trading. The more you are smart and wise in seeing the state of the market, when to buy and when to sell, which coins are expensive, how the graphs, and others, then you will be more likely to earn in the millions of dollars. You can also invest from a new project (ICO). You should be able to choose and sort out which ICO projects are most likely to succeed at a price that skyrocketed many times over the starting price. I guarantee you will get a profit that exceeds your estimates.

I agree with this one because in crypto world anything are possible. Just have to make sure you are doing fine learn as much as possible in every aspect and I am really sure you can make million dollar here especially right now crypto world are still young and once it is really adopt here in our world for sure you will be fine.
