If one were to buy and hold solid avaerge coins (not a coin that kicks out and gets 10000% gain), but rather a nice steady gain like eth, Ltc etc (top 20) and starts with 10k, is it possible to reach a million without trading and buying/selling at highs and lows? If so, how long would you predict it would take? Or are most coins not going to last long term, so every 6 months would I have to rebalance with newer coins?
It all depends on the mood of the market, major investors and positive news. Taken together, these factors can lead you to a profit of $1 million. 
I think it is possible. If you continue to hold a coin or more and that coin is growing in the next period than you can be lucky enough to have great results
This is more than possible if u work in a team of professional traders tracking prospective ICOs that will multiply your profits very much. I`m sure that during the year of hard work this is possible if u have an initial capital of a couple of dozen ETH.

Everything is possible as long as you believe on it. But it gonna required a sacrifices from you because it is not easy money here. Just make sure you will do your own search and make a plan before trading everything and for sure you will be fine here in crypto world.

Yes. That will be possible even withholding alone. Imagine if you bought top 10 altcoins today 1-2 years ago, you are already a millionaire as of now. especially if you both coins like ethereum, you would have made significant amount on it

With holding, anything is possible, a Million USD however can be far fetched that will take a considerable time. years to be precise, besides some will feel that they have gained enough and will want to cash in at some point.

Recently i was regretting selling one of my coin i sold because of getting panic while dumping and sold after few months it got more than 10 times growth . Another one i sold for small growth but now it also reached 4 to 5 times of actual price . So i would suggest hold it until the project success or at least working product comes out don't go with market trend.im I've learned a lot that patient pay.
Profit is profit no matter what happens don't regret anything. Just don't do panic selling starting now take it as a lesson learned for yourself. We all do mistakes that's how we learn things especially right here in crypto world a lot of us new here and the market is really volatile that's why it is hard to predict the movements. In the past years it was easy to make one million with ten thousand dollar invest. And i think many people did this. Actually the market does not look that bright, but i would say its still possible. But its much harder. Because they are so many initial coin offerings running, and its a hell of work to find the one coin with potentail and good project behind!
I think it may be possible only if you invest in really interesting project on the start. I think that there is no chance for Bitcoin to go to 50K or Ethereum to go for 5K or above.
