There is no way to prevent the bad use of fiat neither bitcoin or other altcoins, the owner can use it for anything he does wanna, the only thing that will show is the adress being used for such transaction, knowing its pseudo anonymous we dont know what are the funds for. Bitcoin has attracted several drug dealers, and the famous silk road, that were closed in the begining, but dark markeplaces keep playing and there is no way to stop all forever.
That's why there's a freedom for every users to do what they desire for their bitcoins. However, anything they committed illegal will have to be dealt accordingly with the law when caught. People will bad or illegal intension will always do, but in my case I would not try, it's hard to end up the rest of our life in jail.

Looking at the anonymity of bitcoin it's nearly impossible for the government to find someone doing illegal stuff.. most likely when someone is doing that will use temporary bitcoin address.
if that so,give me the reason why silkroad could be traced down and being seized their bitcoin? some expert here said bitcoin is actually pseudo-anonymous,could be traced down by using some sort of explorer like what another altcoin can,and it's definitely not impossible to be traced down, even easier than fiat, but you can still hide your identity by doing some step
Hiding can be continuously, until it was of interest to your person. If you engage in illegal business and use bitcoin for it, sooner or later, it will still come to an end.

what kind of end you are trying to say ?
i think you are trying to say that someone can trace your transactions with blockchain ?
so let me tell you what if you use coinbase for this purpose they send your payments from different address every time.

Yes bitcoin is widely used for illegal purpose because it is pseudonymous and do criminals find out much safer to use bitcoin for transaction rather then real currency. There is no way to track the user who is sending money to whom. So it's of comfort for them.
i think no one has clear evidence about the fact that bitcoin is using for illegal activities, because of its anonymous character, may it is using for illegal activities but not as on a such a larg scale as still  very little number of people know about bitcoins,
i think there are some cases with a clear evidence. also people want to jail or were prosecuted that were using bitcoin. bitcoin itself might be small but you can expect a high percentage of illegal activities among bitcoin users.

you're right, I guess because bitcoin, illegal transactions into transactions safe and controlled, but I still think that it can be traced if the world's major organizations such as the FBI is seeking its path, but I believe it will also be difficult and requires a very long time.

yes, bitcoins are used for illegal activities because of its anonimity. anonimity of its users. since going into transactions doesnt require you to divulge your real identity. compared to credit cards for instance.

And that is why many criminals are loving to use bitcoin because it is protecting them for using it. That is the benefit which are more favorable to them for doing their illegal activities. As long as something has value for usage then criminals will dive into it and will think of something just to connect and use it with their illegal acts.

Everything with value can be used for criminal activities. Bitcoin in this case is a perfect tool since it's fully digital and instant to transfer. But should we blame Bitcoin for this?

It's impossible to blame Bitcoin for wrong usage of it's users. We can only be happy with the fact that Bitcoin is being used by a wide variety of people. It shows how well Bitcoin is functioning as curreny.

People will always find reasons to look at Bitcoin from a negative point of view, but if you do so, then you should look at Gold, oil, fiat, and the list goes on, with the same level of negativity as they are also being used for illegal activities. Bitcoin shouldn't be the only one to be blamed.

In my opinion, physical cash and bullion are more anonymous than bitcoin. If you transfer physical cash to someone, there is no way to trace them back to you. On the other hand, each and every bitcoin transaction leaves behind a trail which can't be destroyed, in the form of blockchain. Even mixing is of no use. In rare instances, wallet thieves were caught even after they had used coin mixers.

so you write yourself that bitcoin is pseudonymous, but also that "there is no way to track the user". i find this confusing. also how is this better then "real currency"? paper money is also hard to trace.

Definitely, bitcoins are being used for illegal activites. However, this is the case with every other currency so I don't think it should be much of a concern to the bticoin community, except the government may use it as an excuse to criminalize the use of bitcoin.

For example, cash is used to buy drugs. So??? What's the point???

Exactly, it does not make any difference unless a government make this thing a excuse for not accepting bitcoin by saying it is being used for illegal activities so it is a criminal's currency and we won't let it be used in our country, now that would be another thing.
Is there any currency out there - crypto or fiat that is immune from use by people who have elected to take to vices? If there is any such currency, then bitcoin can rightly be called a criminal currency, but if there is none, then it is not bitcoin's fault if criminals are also attracted to it. If anything, it is a pointer to the fact, bitcoin is having across board acceptability.

Well some people have used bitcoins for illegal activities. But this does not necessarily mean that bitcoin can only be used for activities that are not legit. Many people have used bitcoin for legit stuff and even donated some bitcoins to various funds and charities. Its just the mindset of the people who are holding the bitcoins.
I agree with you . bitcoin user mindset is the biggest problem. use bitcoin constituted by the wrong mindset, because if we have a good mindset, we can use bitcoin appropriately and also directed it positive.

Yeah the fact that bitcoin is being used for both good and bad purposes is undeniable and it's all about how people choose to see and use. There are people who keep buying drugs, weapons, or even hiring hitmans with bitcoin but there are also people who spend all their bitcoin for donation, charity funds. So it's up to individual's view of bitcoin.
We can't condemn them but instead we have to welcome them as they are helping the adoption increase and the volume in the market circulation, everyone should be responsible for using bitcoin and must face the consequences of it. Whatever happen to them, we are benefiting from the action.

I see more and more acrticles of bitcoin being used for illegal activities
will this hurt bitcoin in the long run , will governments ban this just like they started to do wih paying in cash for some services
to harden the use of illegal , and money laundering

Every medium of exchange like fiat money or gold also being used for illegal activities. However, bitcoin has many advantages such as fast transaction everywhere in the world and anonymous makes bitcoin just right to use for those illegal activities, just like silk road anonymous black market for drugs and other illicit goods, that's why every state has tight regulation about bitcoin and some of founder of exchanges ever caught and go into jail because indictment of money laundering.
