So far, it hasn't been an actual currency yet. Because of too high volatility, high fees and long confirmation time few merchants accept it and many people don't like to use Bitcoin for daily purchases. Maybe in the future it will be possible though...

Sure, all of that is a possibility, but also the opposite can be true. 
I thing that Bitcoin started new era what we call money. 1st was Gold then we have digital age. 1st was Internet developing now we develop Bitcoins. What is good in BTC that is pure moeny.
Absolutely not. All "old" currencies will remain in place and that, what I will say is Bitcoin has the potential to be a new currency but it isn't a currency yet. Governments won't let Bitcoin be there normal currency ever, they have no control over it and won't be regulated, so nope, not going to happen.
