BTC to the MOON in 2019
April 17, 2017, 01:57:54 AM
Nowadays we do not use paper money anymore. We do all our shopping online. We do not need paper money for clothes, food, etc.
Payment systems are constantly changing. Bitcoin is the result of this change.
So Bitcoin is a real payment system. Yes bitcoin is a money.
you cannot deny the importance of paper money i think it is much more important than bitcoin or any other crypto currency. yes the online shopping is pretty popular but i think the importance of real money in daily life is not denyable. most of the people are using real money instead of bitcoin for the online shopping. they are unaware of anything like this. yes bitcoin is a new concept but i think it will take time to be popular.

Over half of the human population on this earth there is a set of people who are still unable to use the technology correctly, the most basic thing that they use is for paper money and coins, I agree with you about bitcoin is the currency that is highly prospective, but the balance the world economy still need to be using real money.

Until now I am still optimistic about the development of the paper wallet, and even tend to be in the future we use metal coins wrapped in gold and silver also for bitcoin.
I don't see there will be some paper money for bitcoin, I still want it to be an online currency and I do believe we
do not have the power to do that. The government has their own money depending on what country your are living
and that is the only one that will be recognize as legal currency.

There's almost no one in the first three pages of this thread that still comes to this forum and the OP is a scammer that hacked an account that went active after 6 years. Hell, these people probably don't have anything to do with Bitcoin anymore. I think FreeMoney is in jail. Moonshadow is a scammer. Andresen isn't a dev now. hugolp is a scammer. Kiba hasn't been here since 2016. You may as well be answering the question of a dead man.

Yes, Bitcoin is money. There you have your answer. Start a new thread

Well, at least, theymos is still sticking around

Regarding the question itself, people are still debating over what is money as such (let alone whether Bitcoin is money), so you couldn't expect that everyone would agree that Bitcoin is money. For example, I could easily claim that to be money something should be actually used as money (and not just possess the qualities required for it). Since Bitcoin is mostly used as a vehicle for speculation nowadays, it is nowhere near being full-fledged money

It is possible that some bitcoin states can be categorized as money because they have functions as official payments, but not for people living in states that prohibit the use of bitcoins.

Prohibits the use but still it is money when you got out of that country. If you are a buyer then lose your bitcoin in trading you will feel it. The feeling of getting hurt when you lose your money is the same. I think because some works for freebies that is why they cant say it is money. Hard earned fiat converted to bitcoin is the reason some of us get here and still that is happening.
Same also when buying gold. You invested your fiat in it and even saved money just to buy it. If we all know that then we wont be saying things like bitcoin is not really money.

but i do not think that still there any place in the world where people are totally depending on online currency and not sing paper money at all. although there are some places where people are using bitcoin as optional but not totally depending on it for living.
although it is a fact that still bitcoin cannot be use as currency in all over the world and in very few places it can use use directly for shopping but we are still hopeful and very soon we will also be able to use bitcoin for shopping in our locla shops.

Yes the use of bitcoin is an option for to use as money so it is the proof that yes bitcoin is a money if there was not any chance for it to be used as payment then we would then tell that bitcoin is not a money but now it is proved that bitcoin is a money.

I do not know where did you get this information but this is not entirely true. I cannot even give a single country that do not use fiat anymore.

Fiat money is still the mostly used type of money across the globe. It is being used every minute for payment. You claim that digital money is the only money being used and you even neglect the fact that digital money, at any point, did not surpass fiat at all.

i also think so that there may not be a single place where people are totally depending on bitcoin, and where there is no use of fiat, to me i think in most of the area people are using bitcoin as an optional with fiat and they mostly depend on fiat for living. i think it will still take some more time when people will start using bitcoin instead of fiat.

Bitcoin is not money, it's just a virtual currency that is not backed up by anything but users. In a short time he managed to develop very well, but the future is in doubt.

Here is the definition of "currency"

Quote
A currency in the most specific use of the word refers to money in any form when in actual use or circulation as a medium of exchange, especially circulating banknotes and coins. A more general definition is that a currency is a system of money (monetary units) in common use

Bitcoin is a  crypto currency using cryptography, the difference is bitcoin use decentralized control while others tradtionnaly are centralized electronic money

You had it all wrong! Currency and money are just often used interchangeably, but they are not the same at all. Based from your quote "...A more general definition is that a currency is a system of money (monetary units) in common use" clearly state that currency is a system of money and not the actual money itself

That's nitpicking at its best (or worst)

The notion of a system of money just refers to an abstract representation of the value of goods where this value is measured in some dimensionless unit. Since there are many goods out there, we would be necessarily dealing with a system consisting of an abstract table including values of different goods. A set of tokens representing this unit of account is called currency or money. There is absolutely no practical reason to draw distinction between money and currency

It is a wonder if there exists any major difference between money and currency other than the fact currency is one form of money among other forms of money. It was back in the days that we used to have money backed by gold for instance, but these days, we are having absolutely nothing to back money. From the Peso, Rand and Dollar, etc, it is plain air that is behind them and that explains why the governments across the globe are able to go on printing spree whensoever they feel like it and much more reason why inflation has now become such a huge monster every nation is battling with

That's why people are living on credit

It could be loosely claimed that it is a win-win situation of sorts. Government prints unthinkable amounts of money, people take credits since it becomes a rational economic approach to borrow money, spend it, return some part of the debt after some time, and borrow again. Then rinse, repeat. The current economic model based on constantly devaluing fiat encourages spending, not saving, so spenders and borrowers get advantage before savers and depositors
