I don't think that china can control bitcoin because the transactions are confirmed by miners and there is a proper code for doing that.
However, I am willing to see some of the replies made on this topic.

i think no one know truely know that how controlling the bitcoin because bitcoin is anonymous currency so no know know that how controling the bitcoin and its wrong news that people says china controlling the bitcoin.
can control a lot of sense, may be included can change or affect the market price of bitcoin, and bitcoin users in China is huge. and of course when they have a cohesiveness that could affect bitcoin
Well if you have large amounts of bitcoin that could really change the way it flows, you could control it. They are saying that China controls it because they have mining farms for Bitcoin, and they saw that as an opportunity to earn it. They invested and now has lots of bitcoins with just that, being a massive player in the Bitcoin community, they are assumed in control.

I think that china does not control bitcoins but dominate  and influence the bit world
I agree that there are too many miners in China and china has most of the bitcoins in the world they may not actually control but they may influence a lot

BTC is decentralised currency so it is sure that the Chinese government is not controlling it but the miners are
no one can be sure that china is controlling BTC or not
but yes we all agree to working of miners ,chin has a lot of miner's

i think no one know truely know that how controlling the bitcoin because bitcoin is anonymous currency so no know know that how controling the bitcoin and its wrong news that people says china controlling the bitcoin.
However, if there is a group of people who are having too much Bitcoin, they will certainly have some obvious effects on it, like what the Chinese are doing right now. Most of the Bitcoin, I think it is about 50% of the amount of Bitcoin exist on this planet, is located in China. Therefore, you can say that they surely control Bitcoin

I agree that China has a biggest part of BTC in the world but recent events with PBOC will prompt either to switch to other altcoins, either volatility will blur softly. Anyway, I think that in long term it is positive for Bitcoin because China will lose their monopoly rights on BTC.

Just read this:
https://www.wired.com/2016/06/fastest-supercomputer-sunway-taihulight/

They dont "control" bitcoin they have "control" over a lot more than that. So bitcoin is a small fragment of the concern.

no one country can control completely
no matter how many measures, the black site still works
This is totally happening
Chinese government can not manage the Bitcoin
I believe that is true
yes that is a  fact that not a single country is controlling bitcoin, although it is a fact that the number of bitcoin users are more than any other country but still they are not controlling bitcoin because bitcoin is a decentralize currency.

I agree that not a single country is controlling bitcoin but there is some country that have great influence to bitcoin market and one of them is China.  We all witnessed that whenever China release a news whether it is positive or negative, the market react to it.  That is a clear indication of great influence of China to Bitcoin.  It may not be controlling Bitcoin but it influenced bitcoin market that much.

Although the Chinese are having the big influence for bitcoin, But you may need top read the whole post. Eventually, the average pools are holding by the Chinese.
Every of them has the big role for the future development.
You must earmark if the every development of bitcoin is running the consensus(mostly of them).

It's a BiG NO NO!!! China doesn't control bitcoin!! China is only the biggest user of bitcoin because they have the biggest population among the rest of the countries worldwide. We can never tell who controls bitcoin because even the real founder or maker of it is still unknown. We only knew that he is Satoshi Nakamoto but no one can really prove it.

China is not only the biggest User of bitcoins but if you investigate you will find the 70% of the Bitcoin mining is being done in China. For this reason, they are the controllers of bitcoins and its price more importantly. Rest of the world is just following them.

Yes, i think china is the biggest market of bitcoins.
yeah I admit that there are a lot of miners in china so that when they do something that probably will affect the price of bitcoin itself. the greater the country's users, they will have contributed to the bitcoin

What people seem to not understand is that influence does not equal control.
I think in this situation they are mostly the same. China can easily control the prices of Bitcoin since there are too many investors putting their money in this cryptos. Imagine that one day all of them sell all Bitcoin, the bubble will explode, the prices will be at the bottom and I doubt that bitcoin can recover after this event

Well that depends, doesn't it? If I "influence" somebody's decision-making process 100% of the time, is that not indistinguishable from "control?"

Big time investors are definitely manipulating the price to make money, and a lot of them are Chinese.
If you think this drop from $1100 to sub $800 wasn't partially manufactured, you're fooling yourself.
Smart, powerful people used existing events, spread FUD to further push prices down, and bought tons of cheap Bitcoin that weak investors sold off

Are you sure that the plunge was manufactured?

I'd rather say that the rally was on roids itself, and the collapse was inevitable. In fact, the manipulators didn't even need to do anything special to crash the price. After it had grown so much, it would crash under its own weight, so to speak, if supports got removed. The price growth was supported as long as it was profitable to support. As soon as it stopped being profitable, they crashed Bitcoin. Massive shorts by market makers (a handy euphemism for market manipulators) gave the price a good punch in the right direction

What people seem to not understand is that influence does not equal control.

It is mostly a matter of convention
