Attending a bitcoin conference is a good idea , some people learn faster when they are In an interactive room and what they have grab from speaker will remain in them. Going to a bitcoin conference you need to be also smart because some speakers who organise conference do it to make money ,some don't have any knowledge to give out.

Unless the Bitcoin conference you go attend to is crap.

Tip: If you really really want to go to a Bitcoin conference, do research on who the speakers are. You mostly wouldn't want a bunch of random nobody's.

Hey so im still fairly new to the space, ive been investing for about 7 month now and thought about going to a conference. im not to social of a person but i feel like it would be a good opportunity to just be around the environment. Has anyone been to one? and do you think its a valuable experience?
What is the reason of going to the conference when you have known bitcoin and also using it bto trade for about 7 months plus. Although new knowledge might be gotten from conf. If you are not satisfied with the knowledge you on bitcoin and you bwant to expand the knowledge on it then it is good you attend the conference. Attending different conferences or seminars also help to expand the knowledge on bitcoin. Like many people have Cryptocurrencies or bitcoin in particular knowledge before but as they came here to the forum they have learned new things and also educated people on what they have learnt. The experience is always a good one because you will learn new things if you ask questions at the end of the conference. That is anything you are not good with or sure of will be answered but the speakers in the conference. But if you have learned then you can just go and listen to the topics and analys it on your own ways.

Here's what can go wrong in a Bitcoin conference:

  • They shill you shitcoins. (Yes, in a Bitcoin conference, I know)
  • They say things you've heard before.
  • They misinform you. (and funnily enough, you know they're wrong)
  • You can get victim of a $5 wrench attack.

It reminds me of the first time going into a crypto conference last 2018. For most of the time I was an introvert guy. But I am no stranger when it comes to communicating and networking with people during my days as a network marketer. But of course, crypto conferences are way more different than network marketing conventions and events.

While I was there sitting at the back, a foreigner guy who used to work in OKEx (now OKX) back then approached and networked with me. I wasn’t really getting used to talk to foreigners back then, but I have slowly adjusted and appreciated the experience. Fast forward to today, I was just active attending crypto conferences and events to network with others.

Not once have I gone to a bitcoin conference or anything so far. I love learning, but I don't like how people talk about other people's success that I don't think has anything to do with the lesson I want. Most of the conferences I hear are about investing or how to make a profit and financial management, rarely any technical issues are discussed.

I don't think it's worth it, but maybe some people are interested in hearing about other people's successes so they can learn something from the investing aspect. But I can really say bitcoin forum are much better than conferences.

I went to the 2013 and 2021 conferences, and both were definitely worth it.

I didn't go to the 2022 and don't plan on going to the 2023 conferences because they have become too big.

If I have an opportunity to go on such privilege conference then I would. Yes its definitely a worth it experience. I attended an nft event and the talks and experience shared there is awesome also a great way to socialize and talk about different stuff when it comes to bitcoin. But like you said you are not a social type person, it still okay. Just listen there and gather more knowledge. Who knows, maybe later on youll be the one invited to talk to on such event.

OP, if you get the opportunity to go to a Bitcoin conference, do not hesitate to do do.
That's pretty funny! Advising the OP to shit himself [1] if he gets an opportunity to go to a Bitcoin conference. Grin

You do not need to be so social at conference. I am an introvert and even though I do not feel comfortable in groups, I still enjoy attending something that I am interested.
It should be an experience for you, OP. If you have other higher priorities at the moment, it might not be worth it at all so just go for it if you indeed have plenty of spare time.
You might be able to learn a thing or two in that conference since it is group discussion anyway.

I would be looking forward to attend one someday and I wish I could be luckier in schedule, so go for it if you can, OP.

It depends on what you expect to get out of it. For me, I would only be interested in the possibility of learning something new (something fundamental). Right now, my needs are more than met by this forum, YouTube and reading books, articles, papers, etc. so I personally don't see the appeal.

I wouldn't risk my privacy(might be a honeypot *wears tinfoil hat*) just to see it live, unless I'm there to promote a business/service and/or connect with people.
Yep, I can see ordinary people rolling their eyes, but you're totally right; there are significant privacy & safety risks to consider.

Right now i dont really have anyone i could talk to ab btc or crypto.
What about all of us? Smiley

Axiom? More like a proverb, I think. Unless you're building a theory, that is. Tongue

I rather take a decision that excludes me from unnecessary adrenaline rush than indulge it and don't be at ease while it lasted because I'm curious to find out something.
Adrenaline rush? We are talking here about going to crypto conference and not about skydiving or bungee jumping. Just use common sense and you are good.

This sounds very paranoid to me, and I would personally take an extremely slight chance of something happening to me than go through life with that mindset, constantly thinking what can go wrong. Sure, I won't go to a dodgy part of town to some shady conference, but I also won't stop me from doing some things just because there is a minuscule chance of a bad thing happening.
But of course, there's something called instinct. I've learnt never to argue with mine. Once it comes up whenever I want to take a vital decision, I go with my instinct. It's not a question of me trying to satisfy a curiosity or justify how manly I am. Remember that axiom – curiosity kills the cat? That's right. I rather take a decision that excludes me from unnecessary adrenaline rush than indulge it and don't be at ease while it lasted because I'm curious to find out something. Being paranoid, if you asked me, isn't after all a bad thing.

Coming up or my growth in Crypto-currency has lead me to so much enquiries about Crypto-currency in general and that includes going to conferences, seminars and workshops. But I can give you some note you should be aware.
#Do not go to any conference as a dummy: what I am saying here is going to a Bitcoin conference without first having little knowledge isn't beneficial, also have little knowledge can even make you engage the speakers more.

#know the difference from Crypto-currency conference and advert, I have made this mistake thinking I was going to a seminar about Crypto only to find out that it was a scheme by a project to tell people about themselves.

#Be ready to learn and unlearn when preparing for it. Knowledge is meant to be flexible doing this would increase your Crypto-currency growth.

Attending any conference that talks about BTC/cryptocurrency is definitely worth it. Not only do you learn firsthand the fundamentals of BTC but you also have the opportunity to ask questions to all the people that attended. This kind of interactive experience makes these types of conference very essential and helpful especially if you are new to the cryptocurrency space.

Back in 2017, I also attended this conference (unfortunately, it was a ponzi conference USI-TECH) in our country. I was able to talk to various people who invested in this scheme and they provided and taught me the basics of cryptocurrencies. Though I highly advise that you prevent investing in ponzi-schemes. But my point here is that, conferences discussing a certain topic will always be worth it!

Yes it is an experience you cannot do without, it's going to be a remarkable one indeed especially if it's a global conference that brings together cryptopreneurs from different parts of the world
As someone who attended a couple of bitcoin (and crypto in general) conferences, I can tell you that its definitely something you can live without.

What if those putting up the conference aren't genuine Bitcoiners and aren't out to actually teach but to get contacts of people they're likely going to snoop on later? What if they're scammers who might likely ask to trade for you or provide one signal or the other? Besides, you've to reckon that once you put yourself out there and mingle with people you truly don't know; your privacy is compromised.

@OP It might be worth your time if you are looking for employment in that sector, but otherwise its nothing special.

Introverts don't like socializing. If I'm correct of what you've described of yourself im not to social of a person, you seem to be an introvert. So, I'm wondering why you still want to get in the mix with a crowd of people you truly can't judge what they're capable of? There are many "what ifs" here. You've to consider all the salient issues raised here and then decide whether you want to go that way or simply continue to learn online from the comfort of your room.

MAaaN...!! CUT THAT STUPID SHIT
good opportunity if can attend bitcoin conference, it will be great experience. you will directly see people who have an interest in bitcoin and see bitcoin mentors and explain bitcoin in detail. conferences that are held offline with face to face provide an extraordinary experience and of course many people will come to the conference. and there will be many sponsors at the conference, this is an opportunity for you to get to know all of them. Don't waste the opportunity, come and join the event.

~snip~Bitcoin conference will also be held in Amsterdam 12-14 October 2022 and next year will also be held in Miami.
