Hey so im still fairly new to the space, ive been investing for about 7 month now and thought about going to a conference. im not to social of a person but i feel like it would be a good opportunity to just be around the environment. Has anyone been to one? and do you think its a valuable experience?

Yes it is an experience you cannot do without, it's going to be a remarkable one indeed especially if it's a global conference that brings together cryptopreneurs from different parts of the world, I've not been able to attend a global conference before bit i do attend the ones organised from my locality here and i can tell you vividly it's worth attending, you get exposed to several opportunities in the crypto space, you will also stand a chance to have an encounter with some of the founders, developers and experts in cryptocurrency, they do have sessions where different areas in cryptocurrency will be brought to discuss, a try is worth giving.

Its the BTC Conference Miami 2023. The prior ones look like a great experience. What im really looking to accomplish from going to try and meet people that share the same interest as me. Right now i dont really have anyone i could talk to ab btc or crypto.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope
Such conferences are generally sponsored by several corporate brands, depending on the scale of the event. Actually the point of the show is not bitcoin lessons, but (say) 70-80% is marketing where most of the speakers are promoters.
And yeah, nothing is truly free to share anything in this world without getting what it deserves. If I had to attend this kind of conference, I would have to camouflage with zero crypto knowledge and act unconcerned about any offer.

It depends — what bitcoin conference specifically? I've seen a good number of Bitcoin conferences online, but those are the bigger more reputable ones. Can't say for sure what would go on with the smaller local bitcoin conferences; they might end up promoting some cloud mining scheme or something.

But personally, I wouldn't go to one. The bigger conferences have their content free on YouTube anyway. I wouldn't risk my privacy(might be a honeypot *wears tinfoil hat*) just to see it live, unless I'm there to promote a business/service and/or connect with people.

So i was interested in going to the Bitcoin Conference Miami 2023.

I've been into one but basically, it's no longer like an unknown found gem in the forest when I joined that conference. Because the knowledge they've shared isn't really new. They're like the ones that are being taught in the forum by the experts here then.
But I think that conference isn't all about sharing knowledge about blockchain, bitcoin, and the entire crypto but just for socialization and I think they're, the organizer, was successful if that's the case.

Its a beautiful choice of priority. Miami Bitcoin conference will give you the best experience you may ever think of but how about talking to people in your neighbourhood about Bitcoin before the conference. That way you can groom new Bitcoin enthusiast and also people you can always discuss about Bitcoin with while you keep plans on attending 2023 conference

Unfortunately, this is true.  I have been to a few small conferences and pretty much all of them were plugging a scam at some point.  Not to mention there was like nothing new about Cryptocurrencies I heard there that I did not know before and small ones typically also have Shitcoins plugged all around.  They are very basic, with scams sometimes plugged in the middle of the 'show' and most of the people I met had a God complex of some sort.  No, thank you.

The best option is the one you mentioned.  Livestreams.  Although I do not think I have ever heard about a large conference being live streamed on YouTube, would you mind sharing a few names?

This! The privacy risk is high when attending such conferences, and this risk increases when it is around your locality.

Yep. The last thing you'd want is someone to follow you as you leave the conference and hit you with the $5 wrench attack.

If I really needed to go to a conference for whatever reason, I'd go full Watchdogs. Hoodie, face mask, a hat, and some shades.

Literally every information one would need about Bitcoin is available online, so the only reason, I see, to attend a conference would be to network. This is useful for a social media personality or one selling a service, but regular Joe's who are into Bitcoin, can do without that publicity.

If you must attend one, be wary not to disclose personal information and be sceptical of any offer or service being marketed.
You get to see first-hand the interest of others about Bitcoin and maybe get it off your bucket list.

I would have to consider the quality of information the conference will offer. Secondly, the location and cost would also matter to me. If the entry fee, transportation costs and other logistics are expensive then I might not attend. But one of the benefit of conferences is connection. Sitting in the same environment with likeminds can link you up to an opportunity or an idea that can open new profitable doors.

But most conference in my country are usually overhyped. You would here of an international bitcoin conference that would attract speakers or bitcoiners from all around the world. But it would turn out to be a conference put together by few local chaps with no international affiliation or connections.

I am also an asocial type of person and it's been a while now since I am invested in Bitcoin but I haven't tried attending a single crypto conference or gathering. I made a lot of friends online as they are into crypto too and most of them already attended crypto-related gatherings. So it is not bad actually. If you have the time and you want to attend then go. You might learn new stuff there or meet new crypto friends. Who knows it'll lead and start a crypto career for you.

If it is within your convenience and you are not going to spend too much money travelling to attend, then it is surely worth it, most times people attend conferences when one or some of the speakers are people they have admired for a long time in the network, so if they can seize the opportunity to see them talk about bitcoin live, they will.

Since you are interested in bitcoin conferences, you should check the bitcoin meetup section for updates and news about things like that: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=86.0

If you are in the UK, there is a news there on a bitcoin conference coming up in the UK: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/uk-bitcoin-conference-21-22-october-2022-edinburgh-5406152

If you have knowledge about bitcoin then going on conference is just a waste of your time because for sure they will just tell you the basics and the history of bitcoin. But if you don't know about it better start with it since somehow you can gain knowledge with them, but make sure that you go on legitimate conference where main intention is to educate people about bitcoin and not those scam platform who hype people then offer scams.
