A very simple question.

Should I, as a citizen, be concerned about what's happening to the world? I know I don't feel right when I ignore society's problems as I might have my rights infringed. But, I look around some of my people who're ignorant and they seem happy. Is this constant concern beneficial, after all?

Information is key is this regard, it's always a good thing to get informed about every progressive development or happenings around you, but we should not be moved or controlled by the situations around to the extent of making life uneasy for us to live in, many has out the whole pressure of this world on themselves as if they will achieve everything and things must just conform to their dictate forgetting that death is the end of it all, some people were less informed and does not bother because they were well contempted with their life, as long as man is not the major causes to the current challenges we faces each day in life then i think we all havebthe freedom to livebthe kind of life we want not even minding about others ahead of us, the world is made a riot zone because everyone wants to get to the top and in doing this there's much of competition, once we are contempted with the way we live, the whole problem is brought to an end in love.

If the world becomes bad around you, and you ignore and continue to act unconcerned, it will become a concern to you someday when you now get affected. Although knowledge of something can suffocate happiness, but it is better to be conscious and know what is coming than act unconcerned and still get affected. The bliss that ignorance gives is a façade. Knowledge remains power.

No it is not, imagine every time you ignore things around you feeling unconcern about everything that is happening in your environment, your happiness might end up in a sorrowful way. You need to know about everything happening in you environment and also add effort to make sure things are fine. When you are ignorance of things, you will mislead yourself thinking you are on the right track.

There is a woman that don't care about what is happening in her environment because she wants to keep to herself to stay away from problem. One day she was passing by the street, her daughter was knocked down by a car unknowingly to her, a man stopped her to tell her about her daughter's accident but she ignored the man. Later in the evening when she hasn't seen her daughter, she was looking everywhere and asking questions if anyone saw her but they all ignored her. It was the police that came to inform her that her daughter died two hours ago in the hospital. We should not be ignorant of what is happening in our society because that change can start from you.

Ignorance is bliss is merely used as an expression when knowing too much or too many sad and hurtful things can effect your state of mind than it is said that's its better to remain ignorant . Ignorance is not used as to remain unaware of your surroundings, circumstances or current affairs. You should know about all the happening going on around you and you should live like a vigilant and alert person to keep you safe and updated . When you are aware of everything you realize and know about alot of things that's happening.

Actually worrying excessively should not be, because, it will only cause negative feelings over time. Happiness that people feel, may be different. But the happiness that I feel is the happiness of a healthy body, peaceful mind, and being together with family. Of course sometimes a lot of money also becomes happy. But not everything can be bought by money.

If there is a stupid person who knows nothing about anything, maybe in his mind all he can think of is being happy and free. Well sometimes ignorance can make us happy. But I don't know, I don't know. It depends on one's mindset.

Ignorance is not bliss and has never been. In one way or the other the thing you are ignorant off have effect on you, if you are ignorant of the world economy for instance, that does not mean it does not have effect on you because you are either buying or consuming something so if the price of goods increases it has effect and if it decrease you are affected.

Even the Bible said it, my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. As long as you are a part of any system, the things happening around that system affects you, so you should try to be part of the system and know what exactly the future of the system holds.

Ignorance is a bliss as long as you are not getting affected and as long as you are not losing because of it. Else ignorance is a curse, which destroy not only individuals but families, states, countries and even civilization. All ignorant societies in history are dead. So be mindful we awake and be blissful

I have always hated the "ignorance is bliss" expression because people take it too literally. It's a loose expression, not serious conjecture about the nature of life. I am close friends with a seasoned psychologist and once upon a time, was also briefly studying psychology. I have spent a lot of time thinking about precisely this subject and expression. Here are my thoughts.

I grew up in a dirt poor family in a poor town. Trust me, ignorance is not bliss. If you've ever been around truly ignorant people, you would know this by heart. Maybe, you just haven't witnessed the animalistic suffering of truly oblivious people. Let me tell you, it's endless and leads to no where. Even the average person lives a rather boring and meaningless life, without ever knowing the thrill of being intellectually and financially empowered. The truth is, "knowledge is power" trumps "ignorance is bliss" every damn time, EVERY DAMN TIME! I have personally experienced this. I got into crypto early on ( I made this account in Jan 2015 ) and now, I am doing very well for myself. I can do just about anything these days and it's beautiful. I've never been happier with my family. It's all because I spent the last nine years or so studying economics, geopolitics, and blockchain tech. Again, knowledge is F'ing power!

I am in total agreement with Jordan Peterson on this subject. In short, this notion that "intellectuals are often depressed" is misunderstood nonsense, it's what psuedo-intellectuals tell themselves to justify their depressive garbage and to convince themselves that they're super smart. It's also an avoidance technique. I would know, I use to believe that type of garbage but that's when I was a freaking teenager, not a grown ass man. What may I ask is intelligent about meaningless suffering? What's intelligent about getting into your own head and solving none of your problems? What's intelligent about having a counter-productive mindset, a hopeless mindset? What's intelligent about getting lost in philosophical / psychological traps while your life erodes in objective reality? What's intelligent about being a passive player in an active world? NOTHING! TRULY intelligent people solve their damn problems, empower themselves through knowledge and keep their house clean, as Jordan Peterson would say. This has been true for thousands of years. I mean, would you have rather been a surf or a Medici type of person?

Anyway, as someone that's spent a lot of damn time reading into geopolitics and society, I think people are being overly dramatic and biased about the current state of global affairs. The reality is, China and Russia are probably about to get smoked via economic / unrestricted warfare because they keep playing with fire. This is similar to when people where all doom and gloom about the U.S. vs. Soviet Russia but what happened? Soviet Russia collapsed and the U.S. economy went on a F'ing tear. Why do government and military officials act like it's such a dire situation? It's to avoid complacency. The reality is, the U.S. is so much more powerful than people realize. Just look at how quickly they assembled Western powers to wage economic warfare against Russia. This war isn't not going well for Russia, even if they do manage to take over Ukraine. China's economy is already in a vulnerable position but now, they're going to have to get weighed down by helping Russia, too? Yeah, it's not looking good for either of them, whereas the U.S. will likely quickly recovery after this institutional shift. The reality is, we are in for a bumpy road but most likely, Western nations will come out on top yet again.

P.S. Congratulations. You managed to get a LONG time lurker to post something. That's how strongly I feel about this subject. XD Anyway, back to lurking for another couple years.

Ignorance is a bliss is not an excuse for lying to someone, expecially someone who trusts you. It's disappointing to find out about a cheating partner, that never thought about been caught or the consequences of his/her actions

Is ignorance bliss after all?

As long as it doesn't hurt too bad, and especially if it brings joy and happiness. However, a content and happy person should be wise, and measure what is going on in reality, so that he can avoid future pain that might come after the happiness, now.

For me the answer is no and yes. In this age one needs to be abreast with happenings around. To get a good job or opportunity you need all the information. To make decisions about career, family or health information is very vital. To solve problems or contribute to community development, you need to be fully aware of the happenings around your environment.

But sometimes these news or information can cause worries and anxieties which can even lead to health issues. Bad news sell the most and they make up 90 Percent of what we hear or see. Unpleasant news about wars, police brutality, rape of minors, ritual killings, etc breaks my spirit. I feel devastated when I know I can do nothing to end thes evil occurrences. Hence, sometimes it's advisable to back the world and face your world if you can.

Every body have the right to involve in societal problem around your environment. like myself i don't deliberate politics in out my environment. I discusse and analyze politics in my country on air like hobby. All because I love politics. But for political collisions i dont put much interest because it causes damage for political career if you don't practice it well. Politics analysis is what keeps so people surviving because they love it.

Ignorance isn't bliss. An ignorant fellow is always at a disadvantage in every situation. Being ignorant, the fellow is unaware of what's going on in his immediate environment and the world in general.
The ignorant fellow bears the burden of not knowing and that too isn't good. Ignorance as an excuse doesn't stand up in a courtroom. Information is power and the less you know, the more you are losing out on various opportunities and growth. The ignorant fellow should not be envied of his simplicity and probably of the fact that what he doesn't know wouldn't bother him and burden his heart.
Not too long, I was ignorant of btc and it's possibilities. Those days weren't blissful. An ignorant fellow doesn't know anything

If you throw a rock in the ponds, then the waves hit all the sides of the ponds. Our society is something like that. If someone causes a problem on one side, then people from the other side will also face the wave directly or indirectly. If someone's behavior is making you nervous that it will cause a problem in your life too then try to teach them what they are doing is wrong in a good manner. I think with a friendly gesture no one will feel offended.

Being unconcerned about societal problems around you is likely to being unconcerned about your very personal problems. Like you said if you or every other persons should  keep an unconcerned attitude the repercussions will definitely affect our right and daily activities.

When we feel concern about problems around our world we tend to individually or as a group dig up solutions to them.

If you are considering to join a fraction of those that act ignorant to their society problems, have you also thought of the possibility of everyone in the world thinking in same direction. What would become of us all.

The naked truth is that those that are keeping IGNORANCE are just selfish kind of person's and am sure you ain't selfish which is why it bothers you.

Being ignorant is not a blessing but they may look happy from our point of view but their point of view might differ, they want to be like others and May feel like this is where happy life lies.

Learn everything and experience all the things and select which way is more suitable for you that is the blessing and we will not regret about missing anything in their old age.

Just put it on a smaller scale.

Shouldn't you be worried if something terrible happened to your Neighbor or closest friend? Of course, you should. We are all humans, and we all have emotions and feel pain.

Because the same kind of thing could happen to you tomorrow and just like you ignored them, they ignore you too. Imagine drowning in a pool of water and despite your screams for help, people are just walking by the pool side minding their business.

They'd rather think what kind of coffee they're going to drink today and where are they gonna go for vacation this summer. Say what you want about me, but I don't wanna be like them.
Neither do I, but they seem happy. I agree with your PoV, though.

Sometimes I really think that people that voluntarily or involuntarily ignore just have it better in life. I wouldn't choose it like that, but still, I would try it for a while, just for a piece of mind. But it's not just global events, those types tend to ignore anything that is not directly affecting them, and even then, their (sometimes) happy-go-lucky mentality can bypass the issue at hand.
