I know many Christians that gamble and do other things that are a sin. I think the problem is when it becomes an addiction or affects you ability to support your family.

I think it depends on if it controls your life or not. If you gamble just for fun and don't let it control you, then it may be okay (but I'm no expert).

it all depends if you are gambling all your wealth away and you are an irresponsible gambler then it is a sin,gambling should be for fun just to challenge your wit and luck beyond that it's a sin ..

You should have bigger worries than thinking if gambling is a sin or not. I recommend everyone to stop following any religion and start acting for yourself, stop looking for answers in some ancient books that didn't even knew that Bitcoin would exist. Religions just don't make sense anymore in 2016, it's about self reflection and ascending through knowledge.
It is sin to gamble in every big religion.A sin is something which is not appreciable but it not crime.In some eastern countries it is just crime and some it is sin and crime both regardless of explanations by people.
If you are losing your hard earned money than it is sin, if you are winning huge amount without doing any hard work than you have totally different about gambling, gambling for fun it is okay don't put religion in it, for me gambling is not a sin because i am profitable with gambling and it going nice there.

No!!! Gambling is a sin only for those who does not know the techniques and tactics of gambling. Gambling is a form of art if you are betting in sports or something technical. In such cases it will be proven as easy money earner.
If you are catholic or muslim you will know it gambling is a sin.. just relay on video of the passion that jesus distruct the gambling tables.. And also if you are always go to church every week you know it..
As was said above, some religions consider it a sin. Everything that make you addicted isn't good. We need balance in our lifes. Too much food, too much work, too much goodness... Nothing too much is good.
But I believe there is no problem on gambling, for me it's not a sin, just need to know when to stop to don't lose everything on it.
