and how many can you receive as a Newbie?[/b]

You  can receive unlimited merit.
It only depends on your post quality.

In general  if you are interested in cryptocurrency and act as a genuine person, you will receive enough merits to rank up.
I doubt that being a genuine person and interest to crypto alone would be enough in order to gain merit. Many people are interested to cryptos but not all of them are earning merit from other users in this forum. Quality of the posts being created to matter a lot. It should be informative enough or making sense for other people in order for them to give merit. But things differ sometimes. I won't say every post I made are worthy of a merit, but it is just some people are not participating that 'much' in merit sending. Some are saving their smerits for future purposes or in a sense that they are really that making an analysis before giving one. Some are saving in order to give to the people they know. But the bottomline is that, we should respect their reason whether they give or not because that is their smerit, simple as that.

You can't sent smerit if you are still newbie member but if you will receive one merit then you will owner 0.5 smerit. After again if you will receive one merit then you owner 0.5 smerit that's point total you received 0.5×0.5=1 smerit. So after that you can sent one smerit anyone, who makes good topic and helpful.

2 merits = 1 smerit, the s for smerit stand for sendingmerit. You have got 4 so you have now 2 sendingmerit.

You can share half of the merits you have. In simple words, if you are newbie or something else does not matter, you can spend half of what you have.

If you got your answers OP please lock the thread Smiley

There is gold in volatility..
Please i have a few question on the merits system
Is it possible for a user as a newbie to send merits?
If yes, How many?
and how many can you receive as a Newbie?

What I was made to understand by members of this forum when I began my bitcointalk journey are:

1. Focus on Knowledge acquisition.
2. Focus on quality content creation on the forum.
3. Participate actively and constructively in discussion in the forum.

The combination of the above three produce vanlue which member will see and reward your efforts with MERIT.

so, the principle is that value produce merit and smerit in this forum. This is what I do and you'll do well by doing same.

I don't know about that yet, but as far as I know, it is restricted for newbie users to send merit, so they can't send whatever they want to send, because it's hard to do, and I've never seen a newbie send merits to people's threads. other.

There is absolutely no restrictions on newbie members on sending or receiving merits. They can send merits as long as they've earned more than 2 of it, to generate 1 smerit.
And it's certainly not hard to do, all they have to do is click on the +merit icon at the top right of any post they wish to merit and then enter the number of merit points they want to send.

Always try to follow the objective standard of quality when determining what posts to send merits to.

Not your keys, not your coins!
Technically, you can't send merits as newbie. If you receive one merit then you become a jr member and with 2 merits you will be able to send 1 smerit.
It is not correct. It depends on activity point too. If one user has enough activity to become a Junior Member, but only lack of merit (at least one), then whenever he receives first merit he will be ranked up to Junior Member at the next check point of the system (each hour, I guess so). Your statement is wrong if he is lack of both activity and merit points, so even if he receives 10 merits, he will stay as a newbie if his activity point won't increase to 30 points at least.

I recommend OP to lock the thread because his answer was given by some good posts in the first page. If the thread remains opened, we will see more unnecessary answers (we already see some in the second page of the thread). The lock button stays at the bottom at the left hand side.

Yes, this is really possible, all people here are allowed to send merits to anyone, but it doesn't mean that we should send it to anyone here in this forum, just send the merit to those people who deserve it. I think that is what some people do as well, it is really important for us, it shows how great we are this forum so if you send it to somebody else without reading his or her content, that is not good, try to read first his topic or content and if you find it good and useful then you may send him or her merits.

You cannot use your sendable merit, so storing is not a good option, try to send it to somebody who deserves it and by that you give them help too.

There is another discussion that you might haven't know of yet but I will share what it is. I came across a thread where someone wants to discuss if your merif will decrease if you send someone a merit and the answer is NO, your merit will not decrease and only the smerits you have. As far as i'm concern your current smerits is 2 and when you send one then the remaining smerits will be 1. After sending smerits it will became merit and the person's merit will increase and so does the smerit. I'm sure that you'll be able to read it here on how much smerit will generate after receiving merit.

Op you received a total of 4 merits as of now and each merit received automatically generate 0.5 smerits and this time you got 4 merits which means you now have a total of 2 smerits which you can send it to anyone who you think deserve to get one from you. When sending merits to other people could also help them to motivate to create useful threads except those who only aim to earn merits for bounties.

There are no restrictions who can receive/send merit with small exception. Of course Brand New account cannot receive merit *, because technically you have no chance to sent merit if there are no posts at all, but they can send too.
[ ... ]
*- you may see a Brand new account with 0 activity and 1 merit but those are nuked accounts with previously reserved merit before they got nuked ( or deleted all their posts)
It is not true, completely. Technically, the forum updates its database, and then user ranks periodically. I don't know how long the period of update is but it seems one time per 60 minutes (I will add link of the detail if I find it).

So technically, one user can send a merit to a Brandnew account that already makes at least one post or has never made a single post. Despite of the difference in the number of posts they have made, their ranks are displayed as Brandnew, temporarily.

It depends on how we define "What is a brandnew account?"

Based on number of posts have been made
Or based on number of posts have been made AND have been counted by the forum database.

It depends on forum updates, and on our definitions.

If you look it that way yes, you have a small window to actually do this but, brand new are accounts are those with 0 posts, but I'm not talking for temporary things here, the chance to see this is too small.
If you make a 1 post after 15-20 min (sometimes even sorter time), you will rank up to newbie.
If you make 1 post, receive 2 merit and delete this post, that will make you a Brand New with 2 merit and the ability to sent 1 merit even that you are Brand New, and that's permanent not temporary.

Yes, a newbie can send merit to others. There are some condition for that.
Suppose you are created your account today and get some merits from other in less than 30 activity. That means If you have more than 30 activity then you can not because you will be upgraded to Jr member after receiving 1 or more merits.

Hope you can understand. And you are already a Jr member. You don't think about Newbie now😀. Thanks

Everyone can send except for those who are banned, they can still receive merit.
*- you may see a Brand new account with 0 activity and 1 merit but those are nuked accounts with previously reserved merit before they got nuked ( or deleted all their posts)

To summarize>
There are two types of merit those you receive and those you send (sMeirt -generated in merit transactions)
For every merit transaction there is a certain sMeirt generated with ration 2:1 - if you get 50 merit, 25 sMeirt are generated in your account. If you receive 1, 0.5 is generated but you can't send decimals.
A newbie can send (if he as received some or he is a merit source (unlikely the case)) without restriction, except one.
You can send up to 50 merit to one user in 30 days.

You do not expect to send merit to other people who do is to make constructive that is liked by many people and make you get merit, that's the most important.

Probably read this so as to get a general idea of how the forum works. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/newbies-read-before-posting-1689727. Merits are rather easy to earn around Newbie to Full member, but after that, posts require really helpful content or content that has some form of development towards the crypto scene.

I have sent you 1 merit point for this topic, once you receive another point, you will be able to see that you can send 1 point to a post of your choice. There is no restriction for newbie to send smerits if he owns them.

I don't want to control how you spent your merits, but I believe sending to a thread or post like OP is not a wise decision. His question has been asked many times and there are countless resources that can be found to answer him. Not to mention all of his previous posts were about bounties.
Is this a big deal !!?
I liked the post. I liked that op asked here like any newbie would do even the subject has been discussed thousand times before, he is not begging for merit or offering to buy some. Nothing is wrong, right?
If you check my merit history, you can see that i do always send merits in couple, except this time i sent op 1 merit for a good reasons:
- Up to Jr.member rank so he can enjoy some features and make a self conclusion about some newbie limitations. Should learn some basics of this forum before to continue using it.
- Encourage him to make more good posts and HQ topics to earn another 1 merit so he can send one. Am sure he would understand the process very well as he sees changes in his profile.

@Joniboini
What did you mean by "wise decision" ?? It's just 1 point mate  Undecided
Do you check the post history of any user before to decide sending merits to one of his posts?

I thank you all for your replies and thanks for the merit too Coupable
I appreciate all posts and discussions here I’ll make sure to check for a topic before posting too thanks all😊

First thing to say to you: "Don't use bold like this. It makes your words become annoying"
Quote

You will only see your merit button on the right corner of each post box when you already received merits.

I don't remember the button will appear when you receive your first merit or it will appear when you receive 2 merits at least. You can confirm this information (now you received your first merit). Have you seen the merit button ?

You can send half of your earned merits. For each earned merits you have 0.5 sMerit (sendable merit) and you can not send 0.5 sMerits. You can send with even amount of sMerits, not odds.

I am not sure why you received merit for this post it explains nothing, helps noone? Talking about merit will not help you get it just bringing it up can get you a red trust. DO NOT ASK FOR MERIT OR YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE RED TRUSTED AND DEEMED USELESS!! There are TONS of threads about merits and Smerits! DYOR and you will find all of the information!

Here is a thread about the merits and rank system and who can send as well as how much you can send out! If you receive 2 merits you can send 1 out as of right now you have .5 smerit! Not sure why you were merited I would have been red trusted for such a question lol
