Some airdrops asking for AML/KYC  with airdrop estimated amount for less than $5. Will you sign up?
You can give your identity like as passport or driving license only for trusted exchanger not for any airdrop or ico.I think its so risk and why you give your valuable identity for some money. So first know more details where you upload and given your passport  or driving license nowadays most of the site sell  your identity so always try to safety

For $5 I wouldn't go through the  hassle of KYC and passport.

For the sake of such a small amount, I would not provide my data, but I also advise you not to provide passport data for the passage of the form, but a driver's license, I think it's much safer, but nevertheless most refuse to provide their data, so think twice ..

You can check Term&Condition before do that, they assure securing your private information. But with 5$ i think you shouldn't do that, it like you sell your info with a cheap price. Do KYC just on the ICO you want invest in.

This could also be due to the rise of certain projects wanting to avoid potential investors from banned countries. In this case, asking for a passport would seem to be a rational KYC policy

You can answer your own question though,

Will you sell your personal information for an amount of less than $5?

The one great characteristic of Bitcoin as Cryptocurrency is being decentralized and if these new ICOs need this kind of requirement don't you think it is worth it?

Personnaly for all ICO or exchange that need KYC I use watermark on my passport or ID.
For each ICO I create a special .png watermark "for XXXXXXX ICO Only" and I merge it with the picture of my passport in several place of the passport.
For the moment I only add one problem with a rejected kyc with this method but most of them accepted my watermarked passport.
So I strongly advice you to do it. With this they will have your ID but they won't be able to use it.
You can try to use those kind of website if your are not a Photoshop expert : http://www.picturetopeople.org/text_generator/others/transparent/transparent-text-generator.html

Would err on the side of caution or "no" for this one. The cons outweigh the pros here. There's other form of I.D. with far less implications of fraud.

Be very careful about submitting your information. Dyor is spouted a lot but it's really the only to mitigate your risk.

I have a list of active airdrops if you're interested - most don't require a KYC and I've weeded through the obvious scams and phishing attempts.

Copy / paste the twitter url in my signature. On my profile is a Google spreadsheet that I update daily.

I would not do it for such a small amount. My personal data have some value to me, $5 is not even close to that.

It depends on ICO project type. You have to find about that project before give your KYC documents. I have never seen less than 5$ airdrop need KYC. Be safe man. Don't give your KYC for scam projects. I personally don't give my KYC documents for like that airdrops.

It does have an obvious answer mate. I am not that poor risking and trading my identity for just $5. One letter of my name cost more than $5 so probably NO. Some informations of mine are not yet included so it's more more than $5.

Most KYC require some kind of identification document (ID card, driving license, passport) so at some point you can't avoid it. But I wouldn't do KYC for unknown airdrop just to get few coins, I only do it for verified ICOs. I wonder when will we be able to make online ID on the blockchain and use it everywhere on the internet...

It's good for the ICO to have your passport for your personal information but if you have other ID like membership card and they don't require you to use passport then use it. Just to be safe.
