We don't have to ask if the online casino were operate for a long time because they have the money and management to do that. May be will be different if the online casino is still new to operate, because several new casinos, as I know almost on average have large capital before creating a new project. Because of that, we have to research first who the owner is and how the team operates before investing and continuing to play. If don't have enough capital just to pay the winner, of course, we have to avoid.

In case you are really reading replies here: it totally depends on which Gambling site you refer to.
Just a few examples: we have many shady Gambling sites, known for scamming like 1xbit (check 1xbit's trust score)
But we have also very legit sites, like Sportsbet.io or Betnomi.

You need to do your own research, which site is legit (and which one is not legit).
A good start is Bitcointalk: check out each ANN of any Gambling site and you'll be able to review their trust scores.

Even a physical gambler would know the very basic things about how a gambling business works, especially the fact that how they earn money, who wouldn't know that there are only two entities in a casino, one is the gambler and the other is the house, so whoever losses, the second one wins. So it's pretty obvious that the house makes the money from its gamblers.

Of course they are paying the promotions using their own money came from various different sources such as investment to them, casino revenue, Owners own money, etc. Paying a influencer is included in their marketing budget if they like using influencer to promote their casino. There are casino that don't use influencer to promote their casino instead they are using advertisements, casino bonuses or other type of promotions. It's hard to tell if casino is safe to play but there are things that can help you in determining it if it's safe to play like the community trust and feedbacks which is my number one metric in gaining my trust to try it and see it for myself.
