Enough with this overtaking thing, let's don't ask things such as like this and we'll just see it if it happens. But to the fact they are different coins that does have different focus, comparing and thinking that other will overtake bitcoin. You have to re-think.

I don't think that ripple is going to overtake BTC, look at the supply it's not the same.
ETH may come back to rank number 2.

i dont think ripple can overtake the bitcoin. may be the marketcap increases if ripple is supported by some good comapnies in future. i think the the increase in the marketcap is due to the the bank acceptance. but i dont think the price of the ripple increases to a high level.

This is a tough call, a very tall order. I dont think ripple can achieve that feat.

You are right, the presence of XRP in the top three coinmarketcap little shake the dominance of BTC and ETH. This is becoming more interesting because XRP has a larger volume of ETH, even though its unit price is cheaper than  ETH price so many people switch with XRP. I think ETH is preparing strategy for this, we just wait what will happen, hopefully bubble XRP can last long.

For me it's very impossible for the ripple to overtake bitcoin because is the best of all crypto currencies. Bitcoin is very high to reach by other alts and no one can reach what bitcoin has reach and everyone can tell that.

Bitcoin is the foundation of many coins but is the oldest which means it doesn't have the technologies of the newer coins. Newer coins are improved and have more features but they don't have the development of the bitcoin team

Yes Ripple can catch and beat Bitcoin in market cap, especially as big banks are now getting in on it.  It creates an interesting question for all currencies going forward.

We do not know that the ripple will override the bitcoin because the bitcoin is known by the crypto currency but the new's bigger is actually the ripple. Ripple, also known as XRP, is the third largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalisation – which refers to a company’s outstanding shares. SOUTH Korean regulators discussing implementing tighter regulations surrounding cryptocurrencies hurt the value of most major blockchain currencies, except for ripple.

Those days ripple is doing really well, it has more than half of bitcoin market cap and has 19% market dominance.
I hate ripple as a cryptocurrency as it's centralized, now seems that ripple is the queen, not ethereum.

That really is making me upset but I want to hear your thoughts.

I do not think ripple can replace bitcoin as the best coin. Though it might have replaced Ethereum as the second best as Ethereum is only worth a few thousands, it cannot replace bitcoin which has a price of over $14000.
Besides, one of the reasons bitcoin is the best coin is because it is decentralized, as ripple is centralized, I'm very sure it can't replace bitcoin.

no ripple can't be replace the bitcoin, right now the ripple market is down i think cause ripple can't hold more volume again and the price can't get up anymore this ripple gonna down and down and the price will go back to normal. this coin is one of the best investment beside bitcoin but right now it's a little expensive.

It is only because of huge total supply 10 billions XRP (okay even with circulation supply ~40 billions in coinmarketcap calculation) This guano have no utility for banks, they are need technology, not XRP

It will never happen that ripple will replace or overtake bitcoin. Maybe just for now ripple increasing and bitcoin is dicreasing but it cant replace it. It will never happen that the value of ripple can increase and will the same as the value of bitcoin. Decreasing the value of bitcoin is just for now maybe few day after the value bitcoin will increase more that the highest value it takes. We dont know what will happen next but the that i know is that ripple will never be the same as bitcoin and it can never be overtake it.

With the regulation on December 22, the value fell below $ 1. However, this decline took a very short time and the XRP went through a rapid upward trend and saw the new record, $ 2.84. This trend led Ripple to take 2nd place in the market with $ 90.5 billion in capital. This rapid rise of Ripple led to controversy in the crypto society. Some are of the opinion that Ripple may be a fraud committed by some banks and financial industry while some believe that BTC is the new successor.

Not gonna happen till ripple is suddenly adopted by all banks as their blockchain coin and Bitcoin is banned by all countries. Ripple just had a momentary boost or a so called pump and is now retracing back to its previous price. Currently, there is no coin that can overtake Bitcoin. Bitcoin is just too huge.

Of course bitcoin is too huge and cannot be overtaken by either ripple or ether. I cannot believe how people can think that may happen.

unlikely, very unlikely ..
if you want to replace bitcoin first must beat ETH, because during this time ETH always follow below as long as bitcoin up
and I think that's hardly hard

Ripple 'overtaking' Bitcoin is about as relevant as JP Morgan's share price overtaking Bitcoin. They're fundamentally different things not in any type of competition. How Ripple wound up being lumped in with actual cryptocurrencies is an eternal mystery to me.

Woah, slow down people, just because some people became rich by starting mining when it was worth $.001 it does not mean it is good or better than Bitcoin. It is worth only $3 for God's sake! One Bitcoin is worth more than $15000 which is 5000 times bigger! Sure, Ripple has gone up for quite a percentage, but it does not stand a chance against Bitcoin in any aspect.
