I don't really feel it matters who he is. As long as we have Bitcoin and they're alive and well, we'll be fine.

This reminds me of the Hawk and Dove model in evolutionary biology:

Quote
Evolutionary psychology starts with a key mathematical discovery of John Maynard Smith [D89]. Using models of populations of co-evolving genes, from the well-developed area of population genetics, Smith posited genes that can code for strategies, good or bad, used in simple strategic problems (the "games" of game theory). Smith proved that these genes, competing to be propagated into future generations, will evolve strategies that are Nash equilbria to the strategic problems presented by the competition. These games include the prisoner's dilemma, a prototypical problem of cooperation, and hawk/dove, a prototypical problem of aggression and its mitigation.

So it is Nick Szabo.  No one in this thread has come up with a shred of evidence to the contrary.

Nick Szabo has all the things I want a Satoshi to be... he is humble and very intelligent and passionate about the technology. If we wagered a bet on this and it was in any

way possible to determine who it was, I would have wagered most of my bitcoins on it. We just need to respect his privacy and the damage it can do, if we go down that

rabbit hole again. Dorian Nakamoto had a tough time, when they fingered him with the "Satoshi" label and I do not want the same thing happening to Nick... He is a very

private person and we need to respect that. I still think, he might be one of a group of people, but there are no evidence of that...  Roll Eyes

It's one of my favorite people to think that he is satoshi, definitely more probable than the Craig Wright scammer. Other than that, maybe Pieter W is also a good proponent for satoshi.

its not nick..
but i do love some of the theories and 'proofs'

the funniest one is using the letters of his name
someone said nicks middle name was thomas

NICK THOMAS SZABO

take the C and the B change them to numeric (c=3 b=2)
3x2=6
6= 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 and 1
1=A and 1,1,1,1,1     (A and five 1's)
1,1,1,1,1= 3 and 2
3x2=6
6=3 and 3
3x3=9

take the Z and change it to numeric (z=26)
26+9=35

dont take these out, just note that the missing letters are O=15 T=20   =35

so numerically we can see there is a conversion method for ZBC=OT
now take out the CBZ and add in the AOT

NICK THOMAS SZABO
NIK THOMAS SAOAOT

now mix them letters up from:
NIK THOMAS SAOAOT

to:

S   (NIK THOMAS AOAOT)
SA   (NIK THOMAS OAOT)
SAT   (NIK HOMAS OAOT)
SATO   (NIK HMAS OAOT)
SATOS   (NIK HMA OAOT)
SATOSH   (NIK MA OAOT)
SATOSHI   (NK MA OAOT)
SATOSHI N  (K MA OAOT)
SATOSHI NA  (K M OAOT)
SATOSHI NAK  ( M OAOT)
SATOSHI NAKA  ( M OOT)
SATOSHI NAKAM  (  OOT)
SATOSHI NAKAMO  (  OT)
SATOSHI NAKAMOT  (  O)
SATOSHI NAKAMOTO

i know nick is not, but i just liked this bit of speculation and wordplay.. put a smile on my face

There are many theorises about who the real satoshi is. The real satoshi needs to sign a legit PGP key before we can trust them.   Cheesy  Grin
Which i think never gonna happen and we will also not see any people claiming themselves as satoshi in future too due to fear of getting caught. Grin

The main inventor of the Satoshi group got ripped off by a guy named Chad and the bitcoin girl. True story.

Not remotely funny or interesting.

neither is your thread....hint: use the search function
Cryptic as fuck but not helpful.

brah, there are a million threads relating Szabo to Nakamoto. Look, all I know is Szabo denied it.

I can tell you the truth but have no PGP key to sign but, neither does Szabo so....

-Satoshi was a group
-They hid behind the name to protect themselves
-No one was a brilliant cryptographer in the group, moreso computer saavy libertarians
-Hash Cash already existed that was the model. The problem was coins could be duped/double spent with Hash Cash.
-The inventive step was having other nodes verify transactions and making it P2P
-The reason for the white paper over a patent was not some great charitable act. Patent immediately implies ownership and again potential legal action or jail time for the      inventors
-The white paper also gave bitcoin freedom to operate from patent trolls that may file after it came out and want royalties
-The person who made the main inventive step never received a dime
-The rest were really just minor experimental details (how to incentivize miners, how many coins, how long to make the mining process, fees)
-In retrospect I wonder if a patent would of been better, but I think it caught on much quicker being open source so, IDK

I wasn't trying to be funny back there. Just because I don't have a PGP key from back then doesn't mean I don't remember how it happened.

What evidence is there that satoshi is a group?  Its Nick Szabo isnt it.

Read his papers here:

http://szabo.best.vwh.net/index.html

And tell me the tone doesnt sound familiar.

The only "evidence" that he is not Satoshi are supposed emails between wei dai and Satoshi.  So much evidence FOR but only a few flimsy emails AGAINST.

Dont tell any journalists.

Old news. They already know. Read the book Bitcoin: The Future of Money.
