Not if you are mining myriad with x11 or qubit algo. Smiley

Won't mining using these algos not get your GPU to the same temperature as Scrypt?
If not, why would that be? Do they use less of the cpu?

Thank you!

Scrypt is more memory-intensive and so the GPU will draw more power and generate more heat.
Oh that's interesting.
But I don't understand, how the fact that it uses less memory means less power drawn.
Does the card only power up the memory chips used?

Thanks!

Hodl!
As part of stress testing mine I had them in an enclosed area, and let ambient climb to about 36C in there.... so if they can run in that, I know I just need external air exchange... YMMV in Arizona or Alice Springs

Hi ... it's getting hot ... will you use air condition to cool down gpu's or will you try to "survive" with underclocking?

Using Air-con will just increase your electricity costs drastically, so I will underclock my GPUs a bit when it is hotter.

Actually some of the new altcoins are supposed to heat up your GPU less, think it's mostly the X11 based ones.

x11 miners don't really utilise full gpu potential that's why gpus run cooler . But as soon as optimised miners is released or ss they say there is already one behind the scenes , then the scenario will be different altogether .

Time is on our side, yes it is!
I'd suggest you take into consideration of the best ways you can ventilate your mining area if heat becomes in issue in the coming months.

I may write code in exchange for bitcoins.
Isn't there a new altcoin called summercoin.  I totally thought that's what this thread was going to be about.  My bad.  Still, it's a cute connection.

Wellll, watercooling would probably double the investment that you have to ROI, then what cools the water? Yah, that hot air that was the problem in the first place.

Well it is not a H2O what you use to make watercooling, and I know watercooling is veeery good option even when is jam hot.

CoolStream Smiley will help you keep your watelcooling cool Smiley
And many other parts of it will do the job in a same time.

This for example: looks lovely :0

You can undervolt the cards or run newer algos like x11 etc.
this should be the best option

no won use watercooling on the GPU I thought that would be the way to go, is to have watercooing.

Or maybe sell your gpus and asic on eBay for a very high price? Just kidding  Grin

Well, it looks like I'll truly have to air conditions for my rigs, however, I'm afraid this will break the point of my profitability ...

I thought most people have those crazy fans near the miners? plus some glass isolation thing.

How are you guys handling it? Do you guys give the miners a break?

Undervolt (more), make sure the fans are at 60% minimum, and don't mine scrypt

The area my computer is is has rather poor ventilation, so summer heat will be a problem for me even with AC.

However, I don't mine much and my AC is (mostly) free, so it should work out. I don't envy the major miners who have to pay their own cooling bills though!
