Woah, After Napoli also Inter is out from the Coppa Italia.

What a strange turn of events.

Like it's really been a dramatic week to see the both clubs out of the Coppa Italia is really unbelievable, football is just one game that's really difficult to predict because no matter how strong a team is, they may just lose to a mediocre team at a time when no one expected them to lose so it isn't a new thing at all. Well, Napoli and Inter Milan have got more important matches to face both in their domestic league and the European competition so definitely, they will do better in their upcoming matches but notwithstanding, their exit from the Coppa Italia is really not a good development but regardless the two clubs are wonderful.

If Napoli is still trying to improve its position in the Serie A standings, of course Napoli must always consider winning and it would be very unreasonable if Napoli deliberately lost the Coppa Italia to a team lower than them. Apart from that, Napoli also cannot give an excuse if they deliberately lost just because they are still in the Champions League this season, because their fans will certainly be very disappointed if Napoli admits that they deliberately lost a certain match even though it was outside of the Champions League competition.
I think a team will always want to win, even if they are competing in a competition that is not their main target. But the problem is that they lost to a weak team, even though when comparing strengths, they have better strengths than the team that beat them in this match.
I think they should realize that winning is important in every match, no matter if it's in a big competition or a competition that is not the favorite. They are not in a good situation right now, in Serie A alone they are struggling to maintain their form. And if I relate it to their overall performance this season, then I'd say they're in a downward spiral that they're losing.
Every time a team plays, they do try to win, but we all know that sometimes a draw is enough too. Like whoever is at the bottom of the table, you think they go out every game trying to win? So napoli playing against Inter will not think about "I hope we do not lose by much"? Sometimes that's life, you know you will lose, you would be super happy if you get a draw, and you will be fine if you lose 4-0 as well.

I think it should be something that would benefit everyone if Napoli tries to win, but they should realize their situation and not get hyped about every game, try to beat teams under you would be enough, if they can beat about 10-13 teams, instead of getting an unexpected draw or loss, then they will be fine in the end.

On this Saturday there is a really attracting game between Roma and Napoli. The game is in Rome so it can be seen as an advantage for Roma. However I wouldn't trust Roma much for this game honestly. Because I don't like their recent performances in the league. Probably Mourinho will choose a cautious game plan against Napoli.

This is the classic Mourinho in big games in the end.  Grin  Napoli are even better at scoring now as Osimhen is back. He will be their key player against Roma surely. I think both teams will score and Napoli will manage to win the game by a gap of one goal.
Here is the current odds for both teams

Roma @2.95
Napoli @2.49

At this time Napoli is slightly the favourite than Roma and if we see from head to head statistics Roma was unable to win in the last 5 meetings so maybe that's why the bookmakers putting Napoli as the favourite although from the conditions Napoli performance still unstable because changing manager and for Roma too last week their performance were very dissapointing because they lose from Bologna for away match and this makes they stayed at 8th place on league standings

Napoli is very ready to facing this match because they rested some of their key players while against Frosinone this because they want to more focus for this match and Napoli also want to bounce back and to compete with other team for top 4 and for this match Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia who played as substitution player while Napoli beated by Frosinone will be played at the beginning of match by Walter Mazzari and this time i have to agree with you that because Napoli condition was more good than Roma so i think Napoli will being an the winner of this match

It doesn't make sense for Napoli to deliberately lose a competition they still might win, to me it's just an absurd assumption. Napoli have experienced a very significant drop in form this season after winning the Scudetto last season, so they need to take advantage of every competition to win it instead of letting other teams beat them easily.
Yes, this is a realistic thing. It will be very difficult for Napoli to reach the top of Serie A this season and defend the title they won last season. Not only is their condition quite poor, but the distance between points is far away and the strength of the opposing team is actually getting better this season. The competition is very tough this season. And what's more, at the moment, I'm sure Mazzarri's focus is on improving the performance of his squad and trying not to fall into an even worse position. Because after all, Mazzarri also has quite a tough challenge here. At least if Napoli can still enter the UCL again next season, this will be enough for now.
Even though Napoli failed in the Coppa Italia with quite a big defeat. But at least there are positive things that Napoli can take after they out from the Coppa Italia. Namely they can focus more on Serie A and UCL. I hope Mazzarri learns from the mistakes he made in the match against Frosinone in the Coppa Italia. And I hope Mazzarri can really bring good changes to Napoli in Serie A and in the UCL.

Although currently Napoli is 14 points behind Inter Milan who are at the top of the standings. But Napoli still has the opportunity to work harder to get a ticket to the UCL next season. And work better at UCL. Because realistically I also think that Napoli are out of the title race and will only be in the hunt for the top 4 rankings. Because the point difference is widening, it is certainly difficult to catch up Inter with Napoli's current condition.

Last season Inter Milan also only targeted the top 4 rankings and they focused on the UCL. I hope Napoli can do the same thing like Inter Milan last season.

Woah, After Napoli also Inter is out from the Coppa Italia.

What a strange turn of events.
It is good news for Serie A because with two defeats in Coppa Italia, both Inter Milan and Napoli can focus on Champions League where they are two representatives of Serie A in a round of 16. They will not have easy matches with opponents are Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Their sacrifice in Coppa Italia will help them in theory can play better in Champions League because they will no longer be distracted by Coppa Italia. Without matches in Coppa Italia, their players will have better fitness for coming two matches in Champions League.

Selling the best defender without a strong successor is a valid concern. A solid defense is often the backbone of successful teams, and misjudging the importance of maintaining defensive stability can have significant consequences. Defending the title feels harder, because the high expectation and anticipation are already there. It requires careful planning and strategic squad management.
It is common problem type with all non giant clubs because they are not familiar with feeling to stay on top of the league and their star players will always want to leave and join bigger clubs. They even don't have enough deep budget to satisfy more lucrative demands from their star players so usually they will lose best star players after one or two successful seasons.

If Napoli can complete this season in top four, it is their big achievement even they lose Scudetto to another club.

Getting knocked out on penalties is not something strange in a situation like this, luck is needed and Bologna are luckier

Just hope there will be no strange thing like the match against frosinone by napoli. I meant look at the line up and napoli was not playing seriously in copa italia but it lookes weird that if onl a few of us are aware about that. I would rather than called that if the copa italia has been owning by some who was doing shady things. Napoli and intermilan out from copa italita. Roma can take it as an opportunity to steal three points from napoli but this is not going to be an easy game for roma.

Osimhen is not yet performing so well and he was rarely scoring right now unlike last season when he was at his prime time. Im not even seeing napoli as a strange team right now. Its performance is always going up and down like there was something wrong with the club.
Roma needs to only use defensive strategy and waiting for the chance to do counter attack. This most likely helping roma to win the game against napoli and secure three points as the result.

Mourinho can consider using the boring strategy against napoli.

So far Napoli have only collected 27 points in 16 matches, of course from 8 wins and 3 draws. Napoli is in 5th position with a 1 point gap below Bologna, but because Napoli is a team that is still strong, I think they will still compete for the Champions League zone next season.
No team really throws away their chances of winning every game they play. Each team is looking for 3 points and it is not natural for to think that they are deliberately losing even though they are in need of points. Yes, of course Napoli are not strong this season because under Rudi Garcia coaching they lost a lot of points so Rudi had to accept the consequences by being fired early. In fact, this season Napoli is having difficulty staying in the top 4 because other teams are able to perform better, such as Bologna. I think under the coaching of Walter Mazzarri Napoli have not shown their strength in the last 5 matches where they were only able to achieve 2 wins and 3 losses.

Napoli also had strong opponents in the Champions League this season, so Napoli faced many obstacles this season. One of the things that Mazzarri must do is re-form the team and give them full confidence to be able to record another winning streak like they did last season.

It's true, it's impossible if we think Napoli can climb to the top of the standings moreover, currently Napoli are 14 points behind I have to say there is no way for Napoli to repeat the success like last season, Napoli's mission for this season is to get a place in the Champions League and now they have a new competitor there, Bologna. This week Napoli will face a tough match against AS Roma, as the away team it is certainly not easy to get points there and usually AS Roma is very difficult to beat when playing at home meaning Napoli need luck to get points for example, hoping that Lukaku will be absent lol because Lukaku is a goal machine for Roma so imagine if Lukaku wasn't in the lineup AS Roma attack line will definitely get weaker.

By the way, I just checked the top score list and I was a little surprised because of the 39 goals scored by Inter Milan 29 goals scored by 3 players this means that Inter Milan has many players in attack line as a goal machine and if one of them is injured then it's not a big problem because there are still some alternative players. We can also assume that this is Inter Milan's indication ready to become a Serie A champion this season with an aggressive attacker and solid defense, called a complete package.

It seems they don’t really care about this match. Many teams prioritize European competitions and league matches ahead of the league cups or any local competitions they’re participating in. This happens in other leagues too, small teams often win more in this competitions and make it far. They get eliminated at some point by big teams that are focused on winning that cup if they’re not participating in other competitions and don’t see themselves as a contender for the league title. It was really a shock that Napoli was beating by four goals to none, but it is not as surprising as people think it is still.
Sometimes focusing on competitions and matches only in the European League will not provide good value because maybe you won't know that the small teams around you have several players who have great potential, so the big teams will likely comb out really quality players to get into their big teams. so that in this way small teams have the hope of getting into the big teams and may even be able to get players at low prices, but the quality of play on the field can be relied on so that in this way there is no discrimination against small teams.

Could this be the reason why Walter Mazzari dropped his first team? Old rivals I guess, they know themselves better amd how they'll both shape. This is tough game to decide though.
If it was to be last season, I'll say Napoli to win immediately without checking out for who's fee and completely fit to play for the club. Jose Mourinho would be without his best goalscoring player who is the Belgium International who's still serving the three match ban from his reckless tackle weeks behind.

Why's nobody talking about the Triumph of Thiago Motta and his Bologna side tonight? Like they literally held the best attacking club in the Scudetto Competition. It was a massive development and win. Beating them during the penalties I don't really care about, but they held em? I want to go see the line up before I can say whatever I want confidently.

Napoli's recent performance has frustrated and disappointed me. A promising team struggling is hard to watch. I think management's mid-season coach move was a gamble that failed. Starting without a preseason to create the team or adjust to his style was always going to be difficult for Mazzarri. It seems management should be accountable. It's apparent that their important alteration is influencing the team's play.

However, Napoli's problems appear to go beyond the coaching change. The sale of their top defender without a strong successor proved disastrous. It seems they misjudged the difficulty of defending a title, which is often harder than winning it. Napoli's defense is weak, and while hitting the post three times is unfortunate, it shouldn't be an excuse.
Napoli as the league defending champions having a poor season is disheartening to witness. The mid-season coach move, bringing in Mazzarri, indeed posed a challenge, considering the lack of a preseason for him to shape the team and for the players to adjust to his style. In such cases, the management's decisions play a crucial role, and it's reasonable to question the effectiveness of the coaching change.

It's clear that Napoli's problems extend beyond the coaching change, with defensive vulnerabilities highlighted by the sale of a key player. While hitting the post multiple times can be considered unfortunate, it's crucial not to use it as an excuse for defensive weaknesses. accountability lies with the management, and decisions made during the transfer window and mid-season can significantly impact a team's performance.

I'm sure that Napoli lost this game on purpose. They are not in the best position in the Serie A standings and they need to keep playing in the Champions League. The Italian Cup is not important for them and they will not waste strength on it. The main thing for them is to improve their position in Serie A and try their luck in the Champions League.
I don agree with @fzkto on the view that Napoli lost the game on purpose because I don't think they will loose matches on purpose in such manner because of the champions league that's still week ahead, they will have enough time to rest before the champions league, so they will definitely not have to lose their serie A game for UCL games in such manner.

For a team that is considered lower than Napoli in the serie A I don't think Napoli will in any way lose to them intentionally it was just a circumstances that's usual with football taking place, there have always been times where weak teams are able to win big teams and that doesn't mean the bigger team intentionally lost, this may happen due to some circumstances some may result from the players performance that day while some maybe they the team just had a bad day or some times technicalities or poor execution of strategy.

Inconsistency is one of the things that has been disturbing Napoli because sometimes they played very well on most of there matches but sometimes they play very poor so they are difficult to predict in times of wining because considering there last match against Frosinone nobody would have believed that the match will end the way it did because considering were Napoli is on the table it was certain that they were supposed to win Frosinone because Frosinone is on the 13 place of the table while Napoli was on the fifth place on the table but it was unfortunate that there performance was too poor that Frosinone had to win them, and however the wining has affected them on there position because if they had win the match they would automatically entered the Fourth position on the table.
