There was similar news in 2017, when some airlines or also hotels accepted payment in cryptocurrencies, pension funds invested in bitcoin, in Japan some businesses paid salaries in bitcoin...
No doubt there is more and more of this kind of news now, but strangely enough it always appears at the right moment during growth... So I wouldn't pay much attention to it...
Were they only news or these institutions really accepted cryptocurrency (Bitcoin mostly) as a payment? I wasnt really looking, but I think I havent found any review or people sharing their experience of paying crypto for services in 2017.
I remember someone from Russian local board making a list of companies who accept Bitcoin as payment. I've checked several companies from that list and there were no option to pay in Bitcoin. In their news section it was mentioned that they accept, but when you place an order and come to payment confirmation, you would most probably see only VISA/Mastercard/Bank wire options. And I'm sure, if you visit their offices, people will create "round eyes" when you will try to pay in crypto. I wonder if something has changed since than.
