Why is this event so shocking? It isn't the first company and even the first hotel accepting Bitcoin.
Very good for the development of bitcoin. I am sure that the news will make bitcoin can be used more for everyday transactions in the country.
As bitcoin becomes noticeable on the internet, more establishments, figures, and entities will jump into the hype in hopes of becoming and/or staying relevant to the growing demands of the people. So the main point here is if we want to hasten the process of bitcoin being adopted and accepted by every country on this planet, we should talk more about it. At least that's how I see it.
When bitcoin was discussed more and more I thought the global public would accept this well, I think crypto is still not able to touch all people in the world, so I think this might have to be done so that bitcoin can be adopted in the future. 
It's already emerges as the future, cryptocurrency has been used for paying many things online since years ago and even if you are really invested into changing your way of paying things with crypto you can do it, there's many platform out there that acts as a 3rd party that could provide a way for you to buy things in real life using crypto. it's just most of people didn't really put attention there.
Bitcoin adoption is something which has been happening for a while now, many people are getting to know about bitcoin and its usefulness and these is making bitcoin get more adoption, the demand of bitcoin will keep increasing because more and more people will always see the need to invest and most big companies will accept bitcoin as payments because there know the value of it and what there stand to achieve from holding bitcoin. It's sure and certain that bitcoin is an asset so people will always wants to invest in it.
There are two main reasons for big corporations accepting Bitcoin as payment method :
1) With growing demand of Bitcoin there is hype about Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies in the market.Many customer are now using them and to cope with customers needs they are accepting these decentralise forms of payment.Moreover it increase their share price with these announcements in the market.
2)They are getting btc and other altcoins without any investment and this is increasing their profits share by huge volumes with few months of time so why shouldn't they be accepting it.Their main goal is profit which is what they are easily getting with matching customers demand and satisfaction.
Optional payments using bitcoin are also a good payment to apply. Obtaining bitcoin and altcoins without investment would certainly be very good and the main objective of implementing bitcoin as a payment method is due to the hype that is going on and crypto is becoming a popular payment over time. This is expected to happen as digital transactions are now into the mainstream and there are so many adoption happened so this kind of acceptance will probably wild spread not only with hotels but for sure in other essential services. The one I keep forward to look at in future is to see the sign Bitcoin Accepted Here in cashier booth at the grocery store.
That would be my go to buy a hardware wallet now, so that I can bring it anywhere to transact with the use of Bitcoin. Right now, I am still using desktop wallet and partly online wallet to hodl my Bitcoin because I ain't even going anywhere that much. No reason yet to buy or invest too much in Trezor or Ledger.
It is now a norm in our society that crypto investment is taking the lead in our daily transactions. Many years back we all saw this has a scam avenue. But today it is our major investment alternative and millions of investors are storming the market daily with their portfolio. Yes bitcoin started its journey from 0 and in short span of decade it touched 60k. No one can say with certainty that how far bitcoin can go from here 100k, 1 million or may be higher than that. From day one haters say that it’s a scam and will be over soon but bitcoin proved it all wrong. Its clearly coming faster then we imagine
we have some more acceptance of this kind which is many step forward. all true crypto lover is not only about profiting but also about spendability of your coin. there is a joy that comes with being able to spend your coin anywhere in the world freely. it can only take some time , i am sure we will soon get there.
Definitely, but I don't see the point that cryptocurrency becoming a shock to most people, I mean did a lot of people got heart attack when online payments for hotels become a thing, I am pretty sure that they didn't, I don't know how OP defines shock but I think it is odd. For most of us, who are active in bitcointalk, this is not a surprise. The bitcoin adaption takes time but once few big companies will adopt bitcoin, then we will see a rush of companies integrating bitcoin into their businesses. I will not be surprised that sooner we may expect every major company will support bitcoin payments.
Not a surprise for me knowing that cryptocurrency in general is becoming mainstream already across the internet and across the world.
More and more people are knowing it and most of them sees the good side of it thus, adoption right now is going way faster than we are expected.
More and more establishments in different industries will do the same in the future. Cryptocurrency is becoming popular already although we can't consider it as a primary mode of payment since cash is still the more preferred one. I'm not excited with this news already since many did it. What I'm excited and curious with is that, when they will continue accepting cryptocurrency when the bear market comes. Will these establishments choose to accept it even though they see the prices of coins dropping day by day?
This is not surprising but I think that before bitcoin becomes a currency that is used for our everyday transactions during our regular lives bitcoin needs to surpass PayPal and other electronic forms of payment that are so popular on the Internet, when that finally happens and you can buy with bitcoin in almost every website that is when we are going to see a huge increase in the adoption of more traditional businesses like convenience stores and restaurants. More and more people are knowing it and most of them sees the good side of it thus, adoption right now is going way faster than we are expected.

That is specifically how things will be going now and up to the near future where institutions and big establishments will get to tag along Bitcoin adoption to cater the demands of their customers and supporters just to be able to support what they think people are wanting to have basically which is to get into the hype of the current trend that is catering Bitcoin services into their places. There was a thread here long time ago that says the same that hotels are now accepting cryptos as payment method. It's not something to be surprised of anymore actually. Having a cashless transaction is quite common now for the obvious reason of no physical contact with some people.Even the travel payment here in my country is doing cashless now actually like those toll gates in freeways.
