Hi Karodozo,
Basically public keys are used for accounts to be fully recognized in the blockchain. Nowadays, it is not necessary to enter the recipient public key when sending NXT ( in this case Janus tokens) to a newly created account, but some services or exchanges may still ask for it, for additional safety reasons.
