I personally think they decided to legalise bitcoin when China banned it - they saw an opportunity to take the lead and leave their old rival behind.

Japan already is. I would rather look for updates on how many merchants and stores accept cryptocurrencies in Japan today (it was supposed to be 260k by this summer). And I am more than sure they have created bitcoin and Satoshi (whoever he is) is really Japanese. It's sad they have strict immigration rules, otherwise I'd be already there Roll Eyes

Looking good for a very rich country known for its advance technology. I am also planning to visit Japan sometime late this year and hoping for more shops accepting bitcoin and altcoins.

If japan really plan this its not hard for them, first they are the hi-tech country they can access it easily second the internet connection from them are free from their country so i think theres no reason for them to be the capital bitcoin of the world because of their powers in terms of technologies...
