Any indications from Epstein in that direction AT ALL? Did he say he was feeling suicidal? If not, you cannot just up and assert "that he would want to kill himself."
I don't think he made his 'direction' public at all.
He went from living a life where he was able to get whatever he wanted to facing the very likely reality that he'd be spending the rest of his life in prison. It's an extremely resonable assumption to make that anyone who went through this kind of life change would be at high risk of committing suicide.

I had a friend recently explain to me that we are thinking too small. They are covering it as a suicide but in reality there were a lot of people who were upset with him and more than likely planned his death
It very easily could have been a suicide that was only possible because people wanted him dead.
