BTCD wallet released in mid-2014 with zero upgrades since...

Except for the BitcoinDark repo with 4,040 commits.

That could be looked at two ways. One could say "Wow! Over four thousand commits. He's been really working hard." Or one could say "Really? Over four thousand commits and nothing to show for it?"

I know that some people judge a developer partly by his activity, but activity without results is no better than zero activity. I agree with @TheMystic. Maybe he has bit off more than he can chew.

Er, no, he's not. Really, you can probably trust me on this........

But jl777 also isn't a shill for the 1%, he has a genuine commitment to the ideals of crypto-currency, even when those ideals could get in the way of a quick buck or an easier life. Check out his contributions to the current debate within Nxt about potential illegal listings ( a la Silk Road) on the Nxt Marketplace:
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/how-to-filter-out-drugs-on-my-local-copy-of-the-marketplace/msg182339/#msg182339

I trust the guy, mostly. He seems genuine and competent. Of course, he could still break bad at any moment, but so could anyone......

This is what I mean by "having NXT by the balls"...
JL delivers maybe 5% of what was promised after one year...
And everyone sucks his dick because this anon person is "genuine" = Stockholm Syndrome.

I really love NXT, it's origins and history...
And everything it MEANS as a potential counterweight to Wall Street and Hollywood and Govt.

It's truly breathtaking to watch the core NXT Devs deliver feature after feature like clockwork...
Maybe 20 new versions since I bought my first NXT 10 months ago...
As a software engineer in a past life, the robustness of such a complex system is mind-blowing...
I really can't recall a problem after 1000s of trades and transfers and using the API.

Compare that to what SuperNET and nxtVenture has delivered after raising millions $$$$$$$$$ in BTC...
Basically MGW (6 distributed servers) and the copy/paste BTCD wallet released in mid-2014 with zero upgrades since...
And they still keep passing the hat around... after having sucked 90% of the oxygen out of NXT.

And now making noises about "burning through cash", etc = Exit Strategy.

Hey, FOR THE SAKE OF NXT...
I really want the guy to deliver and hope I'm being paranoid...
But I have DEFINITELY seen this exact, precise movie before...
Right down to the "just a C programmer" jive... and "I don't care about money" hokum.

Just deliver production software, baby... someone has to say it  Smiley

SuperNET and nxtVenture are more financial animals than tech, the one everyone is waiting for is InstantDEX, and afaik it's basically finished and has been in testing mode for a couple of weeks. The production software is close baby ...

The problem for jl777 seems to be finding other coders up to the task, so he's ended up doing a lot of work himself. I can remember he was offering bounties to code projects but didn't get many applicants, so jl777's doing more of the work than he probably wanted to. It's like jl777 is building a house, and he's laying the cement slab, doing the carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electricals himself, then doing the interior design & painting. A lot of the work seems to be almost finished and to 'lock up' stage. When someones building a house everything gets built at the same time, everything is integrated. You don't build the toilet, then the kitchen, then the bedrooms - that would be ridiculous. You lay the slab, then build the basic frame, then the walls, then put a roof on. Then all the interior rooms and fittings are completed at the same time. Everything is being constructed at the same time, nothing is 100% completed until the END. I'm not a software coder myself, but it makes sense for me that things like ramchains and tradebots need to be made before instantDEX will work properly, but jl777 releasing ramchains or tradebots now would be like a builder 'releasing' the toilet in a house without walls or a roof. You can't use the toilet until the basic house is completed, and we wont be able to use InstantDEX until a lot of other compnents are completed either.

I think it's easy to under estimate the scope of jl777's vision.

Either that, or he's bit off more than he can chew.

at least you put your name to this statement for posterity. IMO jl777 is the complete package, the first crypto dev with real world finance experience AND communication skills, plus his work ethic is phenomenal, and his ego is in balance with his skill-set, and that's what big money investors expect.

So ExtremeFacials.com, tell me, what contributions has James actually made to the the crypto world that have benefitted anybody except himself and his investors?

We're not interested in re-creating a tax-free Wall Street. We're interested in liberating the concept of money from Wall Street and all its burdensome regulations that hobble the average person from being able to afford to live a decent life.

We don't care if certain devs appeal to big-name investors or not. If they do, it could very well mean the death of the project, since the entire concept of cryptocurrency was necessitated as an escape from the evils of Wall Street and the financial sector/government complex.

We're not trying to go back there, even though the greediest of us are trying to drag the scene back into the stinking quagmire of modern-day finance, for motivations of pure greed (and out of sheer disregard for the credibility of the entire movement).

TL;DR: Fuck people who attempt to appeal to the 1%. They are ruining everything.

James main contribution, so far. Im sure others has help him tho in the process of releasing mgw in the current form.

Sebastien256 beat me to it. I followed NXT from the sidelines and thought like many that jl777 was probably better at communicating ideas than delivering results, then I used the multigateway for myself and realised he had knowledge & skills. Sure, his timelines have blown out, and he's deliberating communicating about projects and ideas that wont get developed for a while so people understand his plans for the future (unless he gets more developers onside which looks highly likely) and that leaves him open to the criticism that he's more talk than results, but once I used the MGW for myself and spent time to actually try and understand what jl777's vision for the future is, I realised his approach to crypto is fundamentally different to most other crypto developers.

He's more like a Steve Jobs type of guy, but back in the early 1980's. I bet if you'd been around in the early 80s you would have been critical of Steve Jobs too, and the google guys, and Zuckerberg, and ...

edit: if you follow the SuperNET slack you'd realise jl777 shares your passion and belief for how crypto can liberate money from wall street

Satoshi wasn't about building his wealth selling promises.  Also, James isn't a core dev of Nxt, he was originally a Ripple enthusiast before he found Nxt, which was long after BCNext launched it.  Personally I like James, but the OP is stupid.

I don't think Satoshi would sell assets, or work on an alt coin when he could improve bitcoin. His style was to create something without trying to sell it.

Why? Look at Nxt. It is clearly the next Generation of Crypto Currency. Where does this leading position come from? Definitly someone, who is involved in Crypto-Dev for a long time. Someone for whom Bitcoin is from yesterday. Nxt is Ethereum..right now Smiley  Grin

you wise. jl777 is no more than just a low level coder and a scammer.

at least you put your name to this statement for posterity. IMO jl777 is the complete package, the first crypto dev with real world finance experience AND communication skills, plus his work ethic is phenomenal, and his ego is in balance with his skill-set, and that's what big money investors expect. I went to university with a guy who had a reputation for having a big ego because if people asked him after an exam 'how did you do?' he'd reply, 'I'll get over 90%'. People always thought that was arrogant, but guess what, he would get over 90%. Occasionally he would say "I messed something up, I'll get 75%", and he would, but not often. This guy was smart and self aware, so he appeared arrogant, but wasn't at all. I think jl777 is like that guy, but he knows he needs to promote his projects in a crowded space, and the way he does it is detailed, honest, and always with good humor and courtesy.

Most people undersell their capacities with false modesty because that's socially ingrained into many cultures, but if I'm going to invest 10-20% of my life savings into a crypto project I'd prefer to go with the dev who knows he's good, and says so. jl777 has a large team behind him now too, so while I don't think he's satoshi, I do think his potential to deliver quality products is superior.

that's what every bagholders are saying, their dev is the best dev ever.
heck, check out crave bagholders, everyone there think their dev is best dev ever in the world. the guy(dev) just pop out of nowhere with no trace or identity and everyone their invest 100% of their life savings.

There are >> 10,000 software companies...
That actually release production grade software or upgrades every day (unlike the jl777 group)...
But these Dudes are masters at floating near-worthless NXT Assets to keep the previous Assets afloat.

For example, they just floated MMNXT 2 weeks ago to keep BTCD afloat...
And it's valued at $681,000 on Crypto Cap...
But as a Pro Trader for 20 years this idea that you can make real money arbing Alts with bots is absurd.

I would like someone to give me a link to an actual Financial Statement...
Any statement from any of the 15 companies in the jl777 stable that an accountant would not die laughing at...
Even some Google Docs thingy that show a trace of revenue...
Because I've owned most of these Assets at some time and have never seen anything.

I'm not saying James is a crook... just in over his head... and eveything is late MAID, STORJ, Etherium = late....
But even MCXNow had super-detailed Financials before Ken Armitt/RealSolid swindled us all for $5,000,000.

Also, the jl777 Assets are so thinly traded that he can just set the price where ever he wants...
And if jl777 fails or is "hacked"... that is pretty much the end of NXT = he has NXT by the balls  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Fear and greed, baby... makes the world go round.

Nxt isn't ground breaking enough to be called "next generation of cryto". PoW is still better than PoS, if you weight in all the pros and cons.. dont get me wrong NXT is great, but not enough to dethrone BTC.

This makes me smile through the blinding ignorance
