It feels very strange for me to see the winners announced and not have any merits to dish out. I'm probably going to end up reviewing some posts and hopefully I find a couple of posts worth meriting anyways. It's become somewhat of an addiction to sift through posts, finding interesting threads to get involved in, build up and potentially merit.

Congratulations to all of the winners, you are the first to be looked at when I get the chance.

Great, I'll update the top post. Thank you so much for your continued support of this challenge, Geraldo! You were the very FIRST participant to enter the challenge, and the very first merit sponsor! It's crazy to think that it has already been over a month and the challenge is still ongoing. Thanks again for your contribution, Geraldo!

My pleasure.

I'm just trying to do something better here, Joe. It was clear enough hows Merits systems work. And what you were doing with this signature challenge is one a kind way to distribute sMerit and to keep our forum better.  I am proud to be a part of this.

Keep going, Joe!  Wink

I really enjoyed participating in this challenge and I applaud you for making this effort to better the forum!

Personally I feel like my 2 best posts this week where:
-Poker Sites to Play On <-- sent 4 merits
-Explanation of OTC trading <-- sent 4 merits

Congrats!

I am interested to become a sponsor. merit and money both. but only if you show me some improvement in this forum. because I am not seeing any quality and improvement anywhere... every thread is full of spammers and shitposters.

You think we people are fools here who are trying their best to make this forum a noteworthy place, as well as a place to stop by in regards of gaining knowledge about Bitcoins and the crypto space?

Quote
anyway. I have 90 Smerits and a lot of bitcoins. let me know when you need some.

Edit: heard a lot about my trust. so please don't start this topic here spammers.

Have you ever loved or been loved by someone?
I guess NO. Because then, you might have known that love is unconditional, you don't need to show off in front of anyone if you really care. Now, my final words to you - KEEP CALM, KEEP YOUR MERITS, SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH SOME NATASHAS AND GTFO.  Angry

Round 4: Notes & Critique

r1s2g3: This week, it seems as if you've taken a genuine interest into how the forums work especially with the merit features. It's a good thing, however, because you've chosen the opposite route of members that are just fishing for merits. Your posts are contributive, and you've definitely done a lot of research for many of them for this round! Great job! For the future, I'd love to see you take more of a direction of finding threads that have to do with Bitcoin and Altcoins, rather than just meta and merits. It was hard for me to critique you this week, as the majority of your posts were in those boards. Overall, however, great job. You're definitely above average.

Hi Joe , I will like to apply for 6th round.
I filled the form but sheet is not updated.
I was somewhat busy for last week (and might be for this week too) but still I like to  apply.

Thanks Joe, for your honest opinion.

Pretty tough time for me in selecting the Bonus Prize as either the Newbies didn't produce quality content either or left the campaign. As I stand by my word, though some Jr.Members were pretty good with posts, I will reward only a newbie. This may change only if none of the newbies has participated in this challenge in the future rounds. Hence I award butka a merit for his great post on explaining hashing functions in simple terms. Hope he gives me some technical advice on progressing with my bitcoin knowledge further. Let me save my 1 merit for future rounds. Since I didn't post anything good for the past 2 weeks I have been lagging in merits... Would work on quality content and start receiving smerits so that it won't get dried soon...

Consolation Prize: butka

2 Merits

(sponsored by LoyceV)
I've merited Understanding Bitcoin's Hashing Function in Simple Terms with two points. Well done!
I only have one suggestion for butka: use your sMerits when you see a post worth reading.

I am considering this, actually. To have this challenge every two weeks would make things a lot easier for everyone, to be honest Tongue I'd like to know what everyone else thinks about this before I even bring it to the table. Thanks for the suggestion.
I can imagine it's a lot of work to read all posts. In two weeks, you'll have to read twice as much. If you choose this, I'd like to give two consolation prizes: 2 merit for 2 Newbies or Jr. Members who just missed out on all other prizes.

I've merited the same post as you because it was very well written and high quality.

Question: How to you set Post start and Post end#? Last week i ended at post 205 and this week started from 210? Should not be 206?

Your post start # is dictated by your first post made into the Round. I don't count posts that are made before 8:00PM on the first day of the new round. I just count the number of posts that were made since the beginning of the round and subtract that number from the total current post count (when I view the user's profile). This new number is the number I use for the Posts # (start) for each round.

Suggestion: May be we should make this competition Bi Monthly instead of weekly? I'm sure non of the participant's main focus is the prize award but Merits...
So we can increase the merit reward and more days will give chance to more the participants to produce quality posts.

shahzadafzal: Another solid round for you. But again, be careful when choosing which topics to post in.
Thank you very much, really appreciate your critiques.
Agree with your comments but trust me this week, it was very difficult I did not find much (new) topics  of my interest hahaha.

Usually I don't go beyond page 1 to find any thing interesting but this week I did scroll until Page 3. (mostly i stroll around technical and bitcoin related discussion)
That's why this time you see my some posts in Off-topic and Local section too. I was afraid I might get disqualified due to less posts.

And yes I'm enjoying bitcointalk.

This number is the lowest average and merited participants we've had so far. I don't know if I should be concerned just yet Tongue

Joe, seems I run out of sMerit, so next round I'll provide one (1) merits only, for third place.  Grin

It's crazy to think that it has already been over a month and the challenge is still ongoing. Thanks again for your contribution, Geraldo!

I have some spare merits so for round 6 I'd like to sponsor the 2 remaining merits for 3rd place

I really appreciate you stepping up, but I'd rather you use your merits to award to other members that you may encounter around the forums. I can cover Geraldo's portion moving forward Smiley Unless you really really REALLY want to give u pa couple of your merits... Then I guess we could arm wrestle for it Tongue

I believe that i have to link the posts as well, which i think are my most meritable posts.
These are my favourite ones:

Nexybit, horrible rates, Self escrow and accepts bounty campaign (only) posters.

Cant send BCH from ledger nano S wtf... 0.50 LTC to 1st person to solve it

I agree; those posts are meritorious. Merited. Congrats again!

Thank you so much Joe. I'm so glad I found your competition in the first place. I have to say, I've learned so much since I started this challenge. If nothing else, your challenge gives structure to my posts, by the simple fact that I know they are not going to be unnoticed. What I've learned the most is how little I understand Bitcoin. You've correctly noticed that I have a problem finding the correct boards to post in. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try with the two boards you indicated. I might skip next week due to personal reasons, but I'm here to stay in the long run.

I am very happy to participate as a competitor for 2 rounds, as sponsor for 1 round, and now back again as a competitor in the best signature campaign out there =D

butka: I'm really glad that you're part of this challenge. You've easily been added to the likes of @nullius and @Blue Tyrant as perfect examples of Newbies performing the correct way. Your dedication to the development and technical knowledge of Bitcoin is extremely impressive, and you're asking the right questions the right way. I've learned from the topics you've started this round, and while its apparent that you didn't have all the knowledge of the given topics, you've positioned them in a way to invite the correct answers, and you did it in a non-threatening way that was inviting for more established members to easily contribute to. Thank you for being a part of my challenge. I know that your interest mainly lies in the technical side of things, but feel free to venture about the boards! For example, you'll find a lot of questions by Newbies in "Beginners & Help" and people looking for help in "Project Development" that I think would benefit from your insight. Overall, another solid week for you!
