Good we are square on this thread. I will lock this in a few days. I will start a new thread in a few days.

In the mean time onwards and upwards. I know the 50 diff level took a long time to pass. I wonder if th 60 diff will be as hard to break.

someone couldn’t keep it in it's pants so we could have got negative diff Grin Cheesy

I tried calling my buddies at KNC, and asked them to turn off their gear for a few days so that I could win with my small negative guess. They just laughed at me......   Smiley

On a more serious note, I think this is more than just "variance". The last two increases together suggest that we have a real and sustained increase in hashrate. Absent some kind of disaster, or collapse in BTC price, we won't see a difficulty below 50 Billion again (IMHO).

I am on a short vacation looks like we moved up and over 2 percent about 50 blocks to go. Good luck to the ones in contention. I will be posting with this account for a few days.
I have an iPad mini with no important info to use for the trip. Do not buy anything from anyone with any name close to my philipma1957 account.

Almost 12 hours later and still over $287, wonder if we'll see $300 this weekend?

140 blocks made norm is 144   so -4   we are creeping towards a   -  diff rate.

Wonder if we get a surge to over 2.5 % or we drop  to -0.10%

Around the middle of this round i thought that it might get to be negative Grin

LE: Price too high for me! need under 200 'cause i want to buy some Cheesy

This would be great.  I would love to see a negative rate,  its been a bit since one.

If price hangs around 280 and we get a negative that would be a win for miners for sure.

Its dead Jim.

Seriously I don't see the 500ph mark until well after the  ½ing

Call we officially call the ASIC boom over?  I think so, ASIC Boom RIP 2013 - 2015.

We've defiantly reached a plateau, haven't been in territory like this since mid-2011 thru begin of 2013.  Where do we go from here?  Realistically I don't know how much bigger the network can grow, especially with the next halving right around the corner.  I think the network becomes more efficient, but not much larger than ~400PH/s.

Call me crazy, but I don't think it's dead yet.  I think we could see 425PH by end of year, along with an associated 20%+ total diff increase.

Simply basing it on if new hardware finally gets out.  I think we'll see a 20% efficiency bump with it, and I think it will have a net trickle-down effect, with those at the bottom (most inefficient hardware) tossing old gear and get more efficient.  I'm not sure there would be a market for that old gear, even with free power, so it might not be as much as I think, but I still think we're in for another decent sized jump before the halving.

However, as always, a lot will have to do with the price of BTC.  If it stays flat up to and through the halving, I think it could bring the total hashrate down considerably as more leave the game because they can no longer afford to mine at all.

But, that's the great thing about speculation... we all don't know but it's fun to talk about... Smiley

I still think there are a lot of A1 gear on network in cheap electricity areas.  This gear has to drop off someday.

We know LKETC make a TON of dragons.  And other companies made some A1 stuff aswell.  Likely most will be replaced with a newer miner sometime.
