Why the blocks are taking so long? (In the network I mean)

There are a lot,of s-5s and older gear being turned off.

Before the 1/2 ing an s-5 at 6 cents power made money.

Now after 1/2 ing all gear older then the s-7 or Avalon 6.

Is losing money.

So we have downward pressure on hash rate.

There is close to 300-400 ph in old gear even if s-9 are coming on line a lot of old gear is shut down.

Thus slower hash rate

so with 3 cents power s5's are still viable?

well here you go 1 s-5 at 3 cent power mining at kano pool.
I assume 0 cost in that you paid it off already.
I use 12.75 for block reward and 650 for coin price
1% for pool fees
2% for diff growth

So it would be good for a while still.

Sadly I'm one of those renters.

Looking into nice hash to establish why so many blocks are being withheld by them.
By now my hash rate should have hit a block but it hasn't.
Action needs to be taken against nice hash. Ending my rentals within a week to cut losses

If you're going to rent, you might want to look into MRR, miningrigrentals.com

You have more control of what machines you get and you pretty much get a guarantee that your rented speed will be reached and kept or you'll get a refund. You can also communicate with the rig owners for more time if the rental is performing below expected average.
The prices may be a little higher, but you get a quality rental for the exact length of time you specify.
Not sure how their prices compare with NH/WH. I haven't used NH for a long time.

Block Time! Smiley

Sorry for the short notice, but I'm throwing in a ckpool restart.

Most users on the main server will just get a reconnect in cgminer and continue.
Node miners will get a full reconnect that will take a few seconds.
Got a few internal network errors in ckpool so prefer to restart it.
Restart will be in about 15 minutes at 14:45 UTC

Rentals may or may not survive a restart - they seems to not handle that properly at all.

Edit: ckpool restart went all as planned at 14:45:25 UTC
Hash rate showing back close to what it was before, but prolly with a few less rentals that don't handle a reconnect.

We need to take action ourselves by grouping up so we can lower the bids in NH. It's at an all time high post 1/2ing at an unreasonable price

OK, I give up, Chelsea gets a feature picture of just before her death, as a sacrifice to the block gods.

I tend to agree, Phil. I know I'm running six S3s at home, but only because the power is free (and that's all the amps I have). I've got an S2 that's gathering dust, but would be OK for someone with free power. Once I can put an S9 online here at home (I also have three S7s in Labrador that are still solvent), I've got three other low-income disabled folks with free power who will receive the older units, with the objective being to learn mining whilst getting nominal return, and saving up for better hardware. I was waiting until after the halving to go ahead with the project, but it's obvious now it's going to work. It's kinda exciting.
