Looks like Canaan Creative got sold: http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-mining-asic-acquired-avalon/. Wonder what this might mean for future of Avalon series.

I hope the new owner will produce a challenger to BITMAIN's dominance.

Its only good for the community and avoid monopoly by BITMAIN.

Mine for a Bit
Well that was some good info would help those that mine on Kano and try to run eth solo mine.  But ehh Kano knows all right?  Cheesy. I get it it was about the "other coin".   I guess since it doesn't actually hurt the pool just the miners revenue it's ok to sweep that under the rug ehhh.

Kano needs you all to be "yes-men" lmao.

No.
Alt-coins are off topic in this part of the forum by forum rules, so I need no grounds whatsoever to delete a post about them.
That is something I am truly glad about.

They are all scams.
You choose to be part of those scams, that is not relevant to this part of the forum, and taking risk in a scam for gain, that is your problem if you lose.

The only relevant advice I'd give is simply: stay away from all alt-coins.

I have yet to understand why anyone believes that a free give-a-way coin has any value or why anyone would not expect it to drop to the zero value it represents.
Excellent point Kano. Have been burned before.

I AGREE!  Any conversation to any of these always references Bitcoin.

Well they have all improved considerably.  Now all under 1 percent.  The vast majority is stales, which I expect from the miners running through MRR proxy, but not the ones mining directly.  The only one I have that bothers me now is an s7 on auto diff currently running 3.649k.  Should I change the diff or reboot?  I'm inclined to see if  it improves since it was way above 1% invalid, so I'll defer the call to you as to whether this will help the miner submit faster or I should wait a bit...   Note: The straggler is an MRR rig...
Well if it's stales, there's nothing I can do about that.
Especially if it's going via a "non-local to you" proxy - that will only slow it down and thus cause more stales.

One thing to know, non PPS pools in the past have been known to allow stales for a short time after they become stale to make the pool look better.
The side effect of this is two-fold:
1) Pool luck drops
2) No one 'expects' more reward (since it has the same 'expected' effect on everyone at the same ratio they mine)

Changing the diff won't make any difference except possibly at the start where it will randomly be better or worse.
However, if your miner is sending truck loads of diff shares that don't meet the diff requirement, then yeah it may be advisable to reduce your diff.
You wont get better rewards, but you'll see fewer 'Hi' rejects if it is always sending them.
However, the pool will adjust the diff up if you set it too low, no matter what.

P.S. I see no email Tongue

So today we had a thunderstorm in NJ and a tree fell on my car and crushed it. Then when I finally got home, my internet line was down and service tech is coming sometime tomorrow (between 8 & 5 - how's that for a tight window? Sheesh!) and until them my miners are offline so my 5ND is in a nosedive. Not a good day Sad

wow.... sorry to hear that.

Here's something to cheer you up; Scott Sterling had worst days....

Hahaha! Thanks - that was pee in my pants funny!  Grin Cheesy
[EDIT] Sorry for the OT. Looking forward to getting my internet fixed and my miners back online here at Kano.is

Kano Can you hold back payments for my wallet a few days? I use breadwallet, but its not Working after i updated it Angry

I Need to make them a support ticket when i get home.
Well email me from your pool email address and I'll put a hold on them before I next process payouts.
Then later I can send the ones held.
A damn I'm glad I'm mining Kano moment...

I'm getting high invalids on some workers(3-10percent).  I took the workers getting high invalids and put them on other pools to check.  So far no invalids there, like they are usually in kano.  I fired up some powered down miners and they started at 100 percent invalids slowly climbing down.  I have other workers not getting high invalids, less than 1 percent.  They are close one percent and usually have almost zero.  Is there some work in progress or needed restart?  Would be good to know for monitoring/troubleshooting purposes.  Thanks
Well the workers page will tell you why.
On the worker page ... click on "Show Details for Invalids:"
N.B. it only resets that when we find a block.
"Stale" your miner submitted them late
"Dup" your miner is submitting the same shares multiple times, stay mining on the other pool who lets you do that Smiley
"Hi" your miner is submitting incorrect diff shares - this can also have no effect on your hash rate if that is all it is doing.

The counts/diff also is relevant to seeing what's going on.

The amount of time mining also matters a lot, e.g. 10-20mins vs 1-2hours
