Did we just have another reboot yet again?  It's showing 1 min elapsed time and my hash rate is all screwy again.  That is like 3 reboots total today right?
No there have been no reboots. There was only the one planned pool software restart 8 hours ago and there was no actual downtime. If you're having connectivity issues it's nothing to do with the pool.

Before I add it on the web site and every where else:

First remote node up and running, in Singapore

Same username or bitcoin address, everything accounts back to the pool stats, as expected on the main web site at https://kano.is/

Pool address is any of the following, but also IPv4 or IPv6

stratum+tcp://sg.kano.is:3333
stratum+tcp://sg.kano.is:80
stratum+tcp://sg.kano.is:443

Give it a try if you are closer to that and let us know what you think Smiley

There's no other services running at that address, just mining.

can this be failover or if the main site is down this is down too?

No it does not make sense to use it as failover. If anything, using the SG server first and the main pool as failover makes sense as the node may go down but the main pool still be up. In case of a DDoS it's hard to know as it depends entirely on what form the DDoS takes and where it's directed.

For people in Oceania be aware that the node being in Singapore doesn't instantly guarantee faster routing as it depends on your ISP and where you are located. Make sure to ping the server to decide which is closer of SG or the main server. Kano and I tested Sydney versus Melbourne and it was faster to SG from Sydney but slower from Melbourne. I think Adelaide, Perth and Darwin would all be closer but test for yourselves.

For those that have been using the Reward Entry feature on http://ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com/, I have an update.
You can now edit your entry if you make a mistake.  Wink
I plan on expanding this feature more soon. I plan to make it so you can pick a time duration and see your total BTC and averages for the specified time span.

Cool. Thanks Zach

This is to update the main server ckpool to allow the new remote nodes option that -ck has been working on.
We'll update you with details of remote nodes once they are working and available, but this is the first necessary step in that process Smiley

Great!  Thanks for the update Kano!

This alerting function for Block discover / workers low hashrate alearting that DMwardjr shows me for Kano pool is so awesome.

Zach, is the one to be thanked for that.  When one gets to a point where they can send him a donation for his time invested, I know he would appreciate it.  Any amount helps.  No pressure, just when one gets to a point where they can donate a little.  I know he would appreciate our generosity just as we appreciate his pool monitor.

Thanks Zach!

Thanks for the kind words!

Indeed, I have found Zach's pool monitor app quite useful, and a bit of a time-burglar, so I am sending a bit o' ye olde BTC to the Zach-man!

Thank You!

Here's his address:  1ZACH1xYA5dxtZcwEPgdE7SfARJiKsSA5
Sent to the address linked in his app, different but I'm sure it's going to him!

I'm sure that one works as well.  I sent a donation about 10 days ago using the one he provides in his signature in the forums.

That is the same address that is shown on the monitor, not sure what address you would have sent it to?
You mention using the address linked in the app, do you mean the android app? Because that is not mine, that is CKPool Stats by TheOneJester.
If you are using his app and appreciate it, then I am glad that you sent the donation to him!  Smiley

I believe that all of us find it useful!  I need that email notification.  Thanks ZACHM!

I'm happy that it is working good for you.

Thanks Zach!

Your Welcome!

All the latest stock Bitmain FW for S3, S4, S4+, S5, S7 works fine, nothing extra to do.

Kano has an s3  update that I recommend using if you do not already have it:

How long does it takes for a pool to restart.
Usually about 100 milliseconds assuming no issues on restart, some miners don't fail over at all while others might for up to 5 minutes. If you have no backup facility you'll probably be mining again in seconds.

Just for a reference, CKPool was dead on NiceHash for about 100 seconds.

Thanks

New to Kano.is. Jumping ship from Apool with a couple S5's and a u3.
I have one running now on Kano as a test and am using cGminer 4.8.0 that is from Bitmain. Question. Is there a better firmware to be running on S5's while on kano?

thanks in advance,
Donny

I have no idea what version of cgminer is on this last firmware update by bitmaintech for the S5.  I have an S5 but it's not even hooked up.  It's just sitting on a shelf waiting for a power upgrade.  I have all S7's using what power I have available at the moment.  Maybe someone else with an S5 could tell you what version of cgminer is on the latest firmware update from bitmaintech.  Of course, if you haven't already, you can download and upgrade to the the latest firmware upgrade yourself and see what version of cgminer it has.  It can be found here:  https://www.bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720150101032800325X8cMcY2y068F
