just to let you now CapnBdL will never get paid what is due to him. he found block #384498 and because of the 5N range the poor guy lost money!!!!!!

Kano if you had 10 to 20PHS than you could do 5 times solve shares, you are taking advantage of smaller miners.

how so??
with the 5N it means you have 5x MORE time to get paid for your shares.. meaning if you strike a lucky streak and get 5 blocks in 5 days each share will be paid 5 TIMES.. its happened..

also with the 5N it means if you get disconnected for a few hours, it doesnt really hurt your avg a whole lot.. this is nice.. very nice..

also with the 5N it means if you dont get a block for 5 days, you can still get paid for ALL your shares.. this is also nice..

Do the math ....  He lost a lot of BTC.  Most pools are at 2.5 average N range. I guess the only thing that matters is ....if your happy with your payouts and CapnBdL is happy with the loss of BTC than just add more mining power.

Hey Kano, any chance we can get the idle timeout on the webpage extended?  I like to check back every so often throughout the day but it seems like if I go more than an hour or two I get logged out.  I would love to see something more like 24 hours before it logs you out.
I simply use the system wide php setting to time web connections out.
To extend it beyond (my setting) would mean I'd have to actually timeout early everyone and have the web server keep the sessions long for everyone up to the higher limit.
Thus it works the same shorter time for everyone.

If you use FireFox or Chrome there's an add-on/extension for both
FireFox: ReloadEvery
Chrome: Auto Refresh
that will refresh say every 5 or 15 minutes (whatever you set) Smiley

I seem to find new useful items out on the web just about every day.  Here are a few more Smiley  Thanks kano

I can see why he'd want to set an idle timeout.  Makes sense.  But perhaps a configurable option (but not allowing "permanent").

Had another short hiccough at the data centre again half an hour ago.
(still awaiting a response from them about why it happened)
Was less than a minute at UTC ~11:02
If anyone lost connection or failed over at that time - that's why it happened.

Kano - The payment for this block (385383) has not yet appeared in my wallet. Should I have received it once you get it confirmed as sent or can it be delayed further?
Thank you.
Yeah when I say "confirmed" I mean it has been put into a block.
That's the first confirm (but by the time I post, or you read the post, it may have more confirms)

I guess some wallets may or may not show the txn on the first confirm, or may be slow updating.

I'd actually suggest checking BlockTrail as well as Blockchain since Blockchain seems to think the payout is too big until it's confirmed Tongue

Aside: although I don't think it has ever happened yet, the payout can lose it's confirm if the block that confirmed it was orphaned and the other block that won the orphan race didn't include the payout transaction.
In that case it would just have to wait again until another block included it.

I look at the website and it says we have 1858 Workers.     Aside from the big boys at the top of the stats, the only one doing their job is kano,

I am going into my garage and picking up my miners and Shaking the piss out of them... I advise everyone to do the same...

I am going to yell at them as well... "None of you miners are doing your job... !!" I need some blocks and I need them NOW!!"
Heh, my miners are pretty slack also, never found a block on the pool and only mine about half the time ... makes them sound pretty lazy actually ...
They get a jolt every day (when I switch them on at night) but that doesn't seem to help so far Smiley

Have you looked it up on blockchain.info?

Thanks RealMalatesta, I should have done that first. My payout is there so it must be my wallet not updating (I hope).

You might wanna try that while wearing nothing but a red thong and flip flops. You know. That way they take you seriously. Grin

The pool is configured to start you mining at 1042 difficulty.
The pool adjusts the per instance difficulty to maintain a share rate of approximately 18 shares per minute.
However, there is a lower limit set on the difficulty of 42.
Could you please a little bit explain this quote above.

First, instead of "Edition" you mean to use "Edit" or "Addition" (as in additional information), otherwise your English is very good.

When you first connect to the pool it is set so that you mine at 1042 difficulty.  This means only shares with a value of 1042 or greater will be accepted by the pool (it takes a share more than the network difficulty, ~72,700,000,000 right now, to successfully solve a block).

If you do nothing the pool with automatically adjust your difficulty to an appropriate value, based on your hash rate, so that you submit about 18 shares every minute.

The pool will never adjust your difficulty below 42, and likewise if you use a command line command to tell the pool what difficulty you want it cannot be lower than 42 or the pool will just use 42 as a minimum.

Essentially you can just ignore all of this because it ultimately has no effect on your mining or your ability to solve a block and the pool code will adjust your difficulty for you without you having to do anything.

thanks...I will think at Addition when I add something...

Heh yeah once they get over 200% it's becomes an annoying waiting game.

That one was CDF 0.905 so mining expects > 235% to be, on average, one in every 10.5 blocks
